The MOB Shop

Went on the Sulphur Mountain bike ride with my company. It is definitely something I would do again with a group of friends. Most of the ride is downhill which helps for people like me that aren’t very athletic. There are a few hills to get over though. You will definitely feel the burn in your thighs after those hills but it was all worth it, especially when your appetite builds up and you can go grub at the local pizza or burger joints!

Friendly service, we lost our way when we were trying to get back and arrived around 5:10 and the staff still waited for us. Will definitely recommend to my friends in the future.

Rented out the silverback bad boys! They were the perfect bikes for riding around town! The mob shop employees were very friendly and informative of the area so we got to pick the kind of adventure we wanted to go on. My husband and I rode our rentals to the ojai olive oil company! It was a easy to moderate bike ride!

They are extremely knowledgeable about bikes, are over the top accommodating and really go out of their way to be helpful. They have great ideas for bikes, trails and have great tours for those who need an out of town solution. I have never seen such a selection of bike rentals, which means you can «do it all» in Ojai and even bring the bike home with you if you want. These guys have most of what you can’t find in stores in northern cal (maybe southern too). This is really the place to go if you want to «tool around town» or if you want to get out in the backcountry with a bike. Great tours, great bikes, great people. You don’t find it very often, so make a point of checking this place out, even if you aren’t looking for a bike. Be inspired.

Extremely impressed with this place. Customer service was above and beyond. Unlike other shops, this one allowed me to demo a new Salsa Bucksaw floor model that I absolutely loved. Kelly was very helpful and went out of his way to get me dialed on some great mtb trails in the area.

Beautiful rustic Ojai! I came to appreciate more of this town when we took the East and Valley tour. I’m glad that we did it. Date of visit was June 27,2015-Saturday at 12 noon, and the weather was on the high 80’s which was just perfect.
The reservation was made 2 days prior and Kelly helped us. When we arrived there, staff immediately attended to us and we didn’t have to choose the bikes to use because they knew better. If I remember it right, they had the Hybrid bikes for us. Caitlin was our tour guide and she made the 10-​mile bike tour as easy as possible although she was a professional mountain biker and from this town. Caitlin led us to the valley where there was a lot of ranches, orange and avocado farms. I learned so much about the Topa Topa Mountains and Chumash Indians who were the first residents of Ojai. Ojai is bordered by mountains as we have noticed. And food chains are strictly banned from this village. That’s even cooler! I think that makes this town differ from others. It’s their conservative way of preserving the town from overdevelopment.
It also made sense why this small town has a lot of retreat homes because of its peacefulness. While bike touring, it felt like I was on meditation. It’s that comfortable.
Overall, it’s unforgettable and we had so much fun especially with the hilly roads. It was a 3-​people tour btw. Caitlin offered water and breaks when I needed it. And she gave us pixie tangerines at the end of the tour. Sweet!

The level of customer service here was like no other. All the staff members were not only courteous but made us feel right at home. It’s such a welcoming environment and they really took the time to make sure my girlfriend had the right bike. Very caring people all around and would definitely recommend this bike shop to anyone thats in the city. You won’t be disappointed!

Great people, friendly service. $ 26 bucks to rent a bike for the day and explore Ojai. I’m sure the bike tours through Potter are great too, but we wanted to go off on our own, and we had a great time. Take the trail towards Ventura or explore local Ojai neighborhoods and vineyards. If we come back, we’ll rent from this place for our whole stay.

This place is great. It has some of the best service Ive ever come across. Always friendly always smiling, very knowledgable. Doesnt get much better than that.

Excellent service. Mob shop was able to service and repair my classic beach cruiser. The companies passion for bikes and customer service can be felt as soon as you walk in the door.

Rented electric bikes this weekend. We had a blast flying through the orange grooves. The staff was really helpful setting us up and explaining how the bike worked.
One of the bikes had a very minor problem with the power going up hills. The staff was extremely apologetic and even refunded our hour. Awesome customer service. Will definitely go again on our next trip to Ojai!

We came here on our trip to Ojai in 2012 and had the best experience. Tim (not sure if he still works there?) set us up with two hardtails and recommended we go to the river preserve to ride – perfect for one beginning rider and one intermediate. We loved riding through the orange groves, wow. If you have never tasted a warm orange straight off the tree, then take this trail and let it be your first time. The trail was a steady but gradual climb and is for the athletically inclined only due to small boulders, etc. A major warning to all you out-​of-​staters: Stay off the sides of the trails because in CA there are tons of prickly things that puncture tires!!! Well, we didn’t consider this as we were just giddy with the desert scenery and trying to ride the banks of the trail, so ended up with a flat tire 30-​minutes into our ride. As we were totally unprepared, without a patch kit or pump, our only option was to call the store from our cellie to see what they recommended. Well, they responded immediately and sent out staff BY BIKE who got to us in 15 minutes, if not sooner. He patched our tire and we were on our way again! I couldn’t believe it. They didn’t even acknowledge the inconvenience of the situation for them either — instead the guy that saved our arses said he was actually happy to have an excuse to get out of the office for an hour or so. I couldn’t believe the great service and hope to get back there soon. Truly a great experience that I am still thinking about. Those are good people there at the mob shop — you will be in good hands renting from them.

The most helpful people on the planet if you arrive in person. Best not to email or even call. They’re too busy being awesome in person. Go in person, if I haven’t made that clear.

Great shop! Tim, one of the owners, helped us and was very nice. He made special arrangements for us and had great advise for routes and paths to explore. I want to go back for one of their guides bike trips!

These guys and gals are great! I was visiting Ojai from northern California and needed a local shop to rely upon to support me on my ride schedule around the valley.
Greg and Kelly were both so personable and helpful to me from the moment I walked in I couldn’t tell if they were other customers or employees. I was blown away to later learn they were the actual owners.
They gave me detailed directions to several rides in and around the area — Kelly even offered to take me along on a ride with him and his son.
I had several issues with the bike I brought to Ojai and their service was 100% competent, quick and affordable. Greg even offered me a complimentary espresso while I was waiting for my bike.
Can’t say enough about these guys!

Man, why can’t ALL bike shops be like The MOB Shop??? I went in here on a lark trying to find something to buy for my husband and there was so much to choose from and at such ridiculously reasonable prices.
One of the co-​owners who helped me was so nice and knowledgeable-​not pushy or arrogant at all. I was able to find a perfect gift within minutes (which was good because I was on a time crunch) and find MORE things that I will buy for myself next time I come into the store.

went to ojai last november for a romantic getaway with my boyfriend. we had our 2 foster kittens with us as well & decided to rent some bikes for the day. at the mob shop, we were thrilled that we could rent 2 cool bikes, along with an enclosed pet carrier… so we decided to bring the kittens along for our 20+ mile bike ride. this was a first for us, as well as for the guys at the mob shop apparently! kittens in a pet carrier on a bike?! whaaat?! haha
we defied the odds and everything worked out purrrrfectly! we biked almost 24 miles on the ojai to ventura trail… it was an amazing bike ride; the kitties survived (one loved it, the other meowed incessantly); the weather was great; a little girl tried to climb into the carrier with the kittens LOL; and we got the kittens, the bikes, and the carrier all home in one piece. all in all — it was a GREAT day!
so… bottom-​line: the MOB SHOP ROCKS! they have amazing bikes for sale/​to rent and the staff are friendly, helpful, and informative. it was a pleasure renting bikes from them :) if you visit ojai, you really need to stop in here.

These guys are the best!
They sell and rent great bikes… specifically, electric bikes, which are wonderful. You don’t HAVE to use the electricity, they’re just like normal bikes but they have a little battery you can turn on to help you get up a hill or, in my case, help pull your fat dog who’s riding in a cart behind you (that they provided).
My wife and I had a blast riding our bikes, with our dog, all over town. Whenever we got tired, we just turned on the power and glided right along. Can’t recommend them enough. The guys at Project-​Ride gave us tons of advice about where to bike (and where to eat) in Ojai.
Two big thumbs up. And you can rent normal bikes as well, if that’s your thing.
Side note: Having visited Ojai from Los Angeles a bunch of times over the past few years… it took us a while to discover Meiner’s Oaks. It’s worth the short trip from «downtown» Ojai. Some great, great restaurants like Papa Lennon’s and Farmer & the Cook.
