This was a very disappointing restaurant. If I’m going to shell out $ 45 for a steak, it better have some flavor. In that, they fell flat. The food was Ok, don’t get me wrong, but not anywhere near the quality for the price tag. I would have been happier at Outback for 1⁄3 the price. The beer selection was Ok, nothing special. Our waitress was friendly, but not very attentive. My wife say with an empty water glass for quite some time. Again, not the level I expect at a high end restaurant. Most likely I will not be going back, as there are a lot of other similar restaurants in the vicinity.

Meh is really the best way to describe my lunch experience here. My fiancée and I stopped in to try a new place for a quick lunch. The staff was very friendly upon entering and our server was on-point. We never had to wait for anything. The service attention was top-notch. The food and dining room was another situation entirely. We were sat at a table that had a shelf like separator to more seating. The shelf was dusty. I can honestly say I’ve never observed so much dust at a higher class restaurant. We both ordered lunch, her the buffalo burger, me the fish tacos. Bread was gratis, which is par for the course these days, but it was served in a paper bag… I was speechless. My fiancée started laughing. The bread was good, but work on the presentation! Her buffalo burger was cooked correctly but she was not impressed overall. The highlight for her were the fries, which she said were very good. My fish tacos were«meh» to put a word on it. Underseasoned and really lacking any depth of flavor. The rice was spectacular. It doesn’t bode well when your protein takes a backseat to the sides being served. All in all, not impressed at all. It was $ 28 for lunch… nothing extremely expensive, but we will not be dining here again. There are just far too many better choices in the area.

Food is bland and over priced. Not impressed. Steak wasn’t seasoned at all. Could have had a meal at Outback for half the price, that I would have enjoyed.

Still have yet to be disappointed. They have updated their menu with new choices. Great drinks and food. Try the lava cake, and if you ask, they will add some ice cream, which is amazing. Female bartender is the best I’ve ever seen. So fast, but never looks flustered, even when busy. One of my favorite places to dine out.

Very disappointed. Frozen soggy shrimp starters. Bread in a bag, and then cold, not room temp, but cold ribs. Did they even try? You’ll probably get a better meal at Applebee’s(which I hate). Good luck guys, don’t say you weren’t warned

Part of me feels like I’m wasting my time even writing reviews anymore because Unilocal has become such a ridiculous and unreliable source of info. Seems like nowadays the content of most reviews goes something like this: «The food was great, service was on point, atmosphere was fun, but… meh — I just wasn’t feeling it. 1 star.» Why has this site become a place where people who are actually just jerks come and pose as super-discriminating«foodies»? Obnoxious. Anyway, rant over. I suppose this is precisely why I feel compelled to continue writing reviews when praise is warranted. I’ve been to G & B’s many times over the last several years, and I have to say that I think the food and service have gotten much better over the last couple. The last few times we’ve been here the food has been above average and the service has been very attentive. My dining companions and I have had everything from chicken, to fish, to beef, to pasta, to salads, and everything has been prepared well, cooked to order, and seasoned excellently. The menu is well-curated with enough options to please most, but not so many that it feels overwhelming. Our servers have always been knowledgable about the menu and attentive without being overbearing. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than other restaurants, but this is supposed to be a more upscale dining experience. The number of locally-owned restaurants in the Lansing area is dwindling quickly, so get out and support this one because it deserves it.

Caesar salad was quite good. prime rib was tasteless and very fatty, not a good combination. While server did a good job, her response to my compliant was she would let kitchen know. This is second time we have had poor food experience at this restaurant and I am likely not to give them a chance at 3 strikes. My wife’s filet was fine and my son’s chicken dish was fine. With their prices, I expect quality in every dish.

I’d give the food 3.5 stars, and the staff 5.0 stars. Crab cake appetizer was decent. The seafood sampler entrée was also just decent. The ahi tuna was a little tough. The chili shrimp were delicious, but small. The scallops were a bit undercooked, but ok. The seaweed salad was ok. The rice was ample, but cooked wrong. The asparagus on the rice was overdone and very small. Beer options are pretty good. I’d get better local beer on tap. Napa Valley wine was a grand finale, thanks to the bartender recommendation. Best restaurant in walking distance from the hotels, by far.

They were out of three of of the options I wanted to order for dinner. The service was poor and the food was WAY over priced. I wasn’t impressed with the meal I got, the vegetables were under cooked and my fish seemed very oily and heavy. I Don’t recommend going.

I’m not sure why the reviews are so bad for this place! I ordered the seafood platter which had sweet chili glazed shrimp, scallops on Japanese seaweed salad, blackened salmon fillet, asparagus and basmati rice. The salmon and scallops were both fresh and tasty, but I was not as big of a fan of the shrimp. The rice and asparagus were average but OMG the bread in the bag is amazing and buttery! So good. Our hostess was super sweet and attentive the whole night! Very cosy and comfortable atmosphere and nice location!

After having read several less than stellar reviews, I was hesitant about dining here(didn’t want to spend a lot for a mediocre meal). My husband, our friends & I had a fabulous time & I have NO regrets about our evening there! The appetizers were delicious, from the crab cakes to the baked Brie to the Ahi tuna! Our entrees arrived in a timely manner & the presentation of all the dishes was gorgeous!!! Dessert did not disappoint, either! Wine & conversation flowed & Lindsey, our server, was both attentive & efficient. I understand the restaurant has a new manager & suffice it to say that I will give him credit for a wonderful night! I can’t wait to go there again!

Gilbert and blakes tonight was very disappointing. Thank god for the new server we requested Lindsey! She was the best part. We come here 2 times per year and have always had a great experience. This was different. Our first waitress came out with a British accent that disappeared after the first two sentences. Awful service, didn’t know the menu or specials. Then the partial owner, lance, questioned me on why I didn’t like the waitress, and never came back to see how we were or if our experience was better. Really has went down hill– disappointed to say the least! Decent awful service — except for Lindsey.

Great chicken sandwich and very friendly, accommodating staff! They brought us a lunch menu during dinner time on Sunday since we weren’t looking for a big meal. Thanks!

Food was mediocre and service was awful. We chose to go to G&B for Valentine’s Day. We were able to get reservations for a decent time and when we arrived we were seated quickly. So quickly that the host left us in his dust on the way to the table. But that’s where the sense of urgency of the staff seemed to stop. We waited about 10 minutes before we were greeted by our server. We ordered a tuna appetizer that was pretty good but was not what we had ordered. We also enjoyed the bread which was warm and buttery. We finished the appetizer and waited at least half an hour before our main entrees came out. When we got our entrees it was not what we expected at all. My husband had ordered the strip and prawn special and got the filet special instead. We had all ready waited so long we didn’t want to send it back. He enjoyed the risotto and lobster but the filet lacked seasoning. I had the Chilean Sea Bass which was cooked very well and had great flavor. The basmati rice was also cooked well but had no seasoning either. Stir fry vegetables tasted ok but some were done more than others and also could have used more seasoning. Overall we were extremely disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant to friends or family.

The place looks nice when you walk in but it has a very funky(not good funky though) vibe. Having a seat at the bar the place just seems unfriendly and clique’ish. I have no idea how to explain it but you just get the feeling that everyone in there comes in all the time and they don’t particularly like interlopers. Moving beyond the atmosphere to the food… it’s expensive for Lansing. I spend a fair amount of time in this area and I’d have to say this is one of the more expensive places I’ve been to in Lansing. Now, is it expensive by big city comparison — no — but for Lansing — yes. I ordered some sort of white-fish entrée. It came out very hot and had a generous portion of fish. The taste was decent and it had a nice serving of garlic mashed and some veggies for sides. Overall the food was slightly above average. Net — bad vibe, decent food but overpriced. There are far better options.

The best word to describe this restaurant is bland. The service was good and fast but didn’t know the beers on tap and the second most flavorful thing I had was the water. Overall not bad just sort of meh. A little louder in the dining room than you would expect for restaurant that is supposed to be a higher end place. Would I visit here again. Most likely not.

Was there for dinner this evening. The staff was friendly and courteous. The atmosphere was nice and the place is quite clean and fresh looking. I would give this place a bit higher marks but found the food to be just ok. The food was better than average for sure but not great. I would certainly visit in the future again.
