The Shack Seafood and Oyster Bar

Very Good Food. Inconsistent Unilocal reviews almost scared me away, but happily did not. I sat at the bar and had an excellent dinner and cold beer. Very reasonable priced. Would be 5 stars, but the entire bar area service was handled by only the one very busy bartender, while servers in the restaurant area stood around with nothing to do. Kinda crazy. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Had lunch here today with friends. Peytan was our waitress and she was very attentive and kept refilling our drinks, even while we sat around and talked after we paid our bills. They have changed their menu and no longer have the pasta dish I loved, I asked and they made it anyways! The shrimp wrapped in bacon was awesome, the onion rings were great as always. The location is a little difficult to find, but worth the search.

Deathly ill after eating here. Never have been so sick! Our table was a party of four and all had cold fries, nasty coleslaw and something they called gravy on a mediocre chicken fried chicken. I was the only one of our four to order tea. I was told years ago by a neighbor in the coffee/​tea sales that if a restaurant doesn’t clean the tea spigot DAILY, you will be very sick due to bacteria grime build-​up. This may be what happened here. The atmosphere was so loud, our waiter had to get in our face to hear us yelling our order. If you want to pay a high price to sit in a hard chair with a live musician (which we normally love, but not atop the overhead music), this is your place. This was our first and last visit.

They need to learn how to shuck oysters. Anything fried tasted like the fryer grease hadn’t been change… EVER. Disgusting

Came here for dinner last night… once we finally found this hidden little place!
Our service was not very great though. Our server got our orders wrong and only came to check on us every 20 minutes or so to the point where we couldn’t even tell him about our wrong orders.
I had ordered the Creole Gumbo which said it had sausage, chicken, and shrimp in it. It definitely had the chicken and sausage in it but no shrimp at all, it also had another type of meat in there but we honestly had no clue what it was!
My friend ordered the blackened chicken and somehow got a pasta given to him. Like I said earlier, we didn’t have a chance to tell the waiter as he wasn’t even the one that brought us our food and didn’t check on us until about 15 minutes later.
Sad to say this but we will not be returning.

Oyster Brent was good but oysters were really small. The Gumbo was awesome. Just like New Orleans

The family and I are thee last night. We had reservations and were seated promptly. It went downhill from there. We ordered drinks from the bar. Took a while but we weren’t surprised they were busy. My daughter arrived and ordered a beer. It took so long that she finally went to the bar and got one. We ordered and it finally came. It was very pricy and very small servings. The service was awful. The waitress knew that with our party of 8 the tip would automatically added to the tab. Next time I want seafood I’ll so back to Trappers. I’ve never been disappointed at Trappers

Not too bad. The prices are a little high, but not unreasonable for seafood. Boyfriend and I got the étouffée and seafood jambalaya which both had large portions. I was able to eat till I was full and still have enough for the next day.
Only thing is that the seafood jambalaya may be better described as a creole.

Great service. Excellent food. Ordered the Brent oysters dinner, shack seafood salad and the winner at the table was the fried oysters — Lightly breaded, Not over fried.
Desserts were excellent. Mudslide over the top.

I came here for their happy Hour. I had Jasmin as my server. The food was awesome! The oysters are the Best! The service was very good. Jasmine was attentive and nice. Thankyou for her hospitality. I love the food and I will come back! If you like seafood, this is the place to go to.

I’ve been to this place several times, and they always have great service and atmosphere.
Today the air conditioning was broke and didn’t receive my appetizer. I know they can do hetter, but not today.

This is one of my favorite places to eat oysters. I recommend trying the crab appetizer. It is pure crab goodness. I like to order the grilled or fried seafood platter. I have tried it both ways and either way you can’t go wrong. I also recommend you follow the advice of the menu and not sub out the frog leg. The waitstaff have always been attentive, friendly, and courteous. They can accommodate groups or small parties. If you like Cajun or just seafood in general, then I believe you will truly enjoy this place as I do. Happy eating!

I’m not a seafood fan but the hubby is, so I went into The Shack with low expectations.
We walked in to a nearly empty restaurant — I don’t think the location helps. It took us a little while waiting at the front to be seated (but we’d definitely been seen). We ordered and everything seemed normal, until our waiter disappeared.
Minutes before the food came out someone walking by brought out a bread basket. Then our food came, but we still hadn’t seen our appetizer. When we asked the server he told us «the kitchen dropped it or something» — oookay, you could’ve let us know.
I was disappointed with the very soggy fries and bland chicken, but I assume this is what I get for ordering chicken at a seafood place. Their gravy is great though! About halfway through the meal the waiter brought hubby’s fries (his only side) but seemed confused, «you’ve already eaten, man». Hubby cleaned his plate, said the catfish was great. Finally, when we were finishing our entrees, our appetizer came — but we weren’t given the option to refuse it (who bring the app at that point??). My tea sat empty about half the meal, even though our waiter had one other table. When we did see our waiter again he brought us the check without asking if we wanted desert. When I asked if it would be ok to order desert he seemed shocked, but obliged. Key lime and Pecan pies also very good.
TL;DR: Bad service. Good food, if you like seafood.

I would have given them 5 stars had they not run out of what we really wanted to order. Overall pretty darn good oysters and seafood gumbo. The service was pretty fast and the waiter was attentive. I definitely plan to come back to try out the other items on the fairly large menu. More to come later…

I hate to say this, but The Shack is an absolute miss for me. I’ve been twice, and both food and service each time were… not so great.
On our first visit my fried shrimp was actually really good, but the seafood dip tasted like raw onions and was expensive. Our waiter was also very unpleasant.
On this visit the étouffée was not very spicy and it was ice cold. My crawfish tails were salty and not fresh. My husband said something similar about the fried oysters, and my dad said that his blackened snapper was pretty burnt.
I’m giving The Shack two stars because their fried shrimp is pretty good, and their décor is really cute.

This visit is not nearly as pleasurable as the last. We are eating at a different restaurant for starters. We were seated right away– plus. Then we sat and sat and sat –definite negative. Almost 20 mins well ok more like 16 to 17 minutes we waited. Two different tables of people were seated greeted and served drinks yet we waited. Two of the wait staffers looked our way but that’s was it!
We decided to leave when mister gray and black baseball shirt walked right passed us and asked the guy seated behind us if he was ready to order. The guy just sat down and was waiting on others to arrive in his party.
We were invisible at this shack tonight.

Food wasn’t very good. Had way too much seasoned salt all over it. One Bloody Mary cost me $ 10, and had too much seasoned salt in it.
To top it all off, they ran the wrong ticket on our debit card. The amount was $ 268! Thank god we had enough to cover both that charge and our own $ 179 check. Still awaiting the reversal.

We went here on a Saturday night, after driving all day.
I went here on the recommendation of the people on Unilocal!The food was excellent.
We ordered the fried pickles — yummy! The batter stayed on the pickle, very good.
I ordered crawfish étouffée it was excellent! A word of caution though… it was spicey HOT! Even my husband said this and he eats jalapeño out of the jar for a snack!
So my next visit I will ask if it could be toned down a little.
My husband ordered the seafood platter… delish! It had frog legs, stuff shrimp, another type of fish flounder and crab cake.
It was all excellent!
Service was excellent and prompt.
Highly recommend going here!
And of course 6 half shell oysters — very good! He only said one tasted sandy.

This was my first visit to The Shack, and I really enjoyed it. Service was prompt and accurate. The Fried Crawfish tails were tasty and the oil was obviously fresh.
What else to add? I’ll be back as soon as I return to OKC.

They are OPEN 10a-​10p on Sundays. And all of the good is delicious and the drinks are fantastic.
Crab bisque is a definite must try. The court bouillon is yummy, creole tacos, crab anything
