Been to this location over a year ago, if they all have same quality of food I’m surprised why so many eat there. Steak and Shake’s biscuits and gravy are beyond better than Cracker Barrel. I suspected whom ever made their gravy has never made a single item in their entire life. It was like eating tasteless clumps of flour. Never heard of sunny side up eggs?

You don’t have to be from the South to be in love with grits, fried okra, country-fried anything, sweet tea, or friendly service. If fact, you don’t even have to go to the South to get decent representations of all these things. Just come to pretty much any Cracker Barrel and you’ll have a great and generally inexpensive experience.

I don’t know why this place has such rough reviews. I came here during my week in Olathe and I can only say this place was a favorite. First off, our server, Madeline, was awesome. She was hysterically funny. so when I found someone I could bounce jokes off and have a good time with, it really made the day. I was there with a co-worker and Madeline even schooled us on how to pronounce Olathe. For the visitors — It’s Oh-Lay-Thuh. Hope I did it justice Madeline. In any case, after trying to figure out how this was possible, Madeline kept us smiling. The service, obviously, was top notch. Back on the East Coast, we have Cracker Barrel’s as well and admittedly I don’t go as often. This was right near the hotel that we were at for the week, so I was glad to head back. Food was awesome and Madeline checked back on us frequently. Madeline: You may only have 1 star on the apron, but you’re a 5 star to us! :) Management note: Don’t lose her. She’s a gem! Seriously. she represented your restaurant very professionally and her attitude is priceless.

Sadly, another lousy experience at this location. As I have stated before, eat my fav dish here often and yes I try them to see if improved. I just dined here about 3 weeks ago and everything about it was 5 stars. Actually at checkout the manager was up front and he looked new. I asked, «under new management ?» To which he replied, :yes, can I help you?”. I told him«it shows, very good food and service today». Yesterday, 3/5, I returned at 12:30, ordered my fav again, spicy grilled catfish, fried okra, sweet potato, sweet tea. First I sat un-noticed for at least 5 minutes. A server refilling items on table asked if «Crystal» waited on me yet. I told her no one has talk to me. She took my order. Then another person came to my table said sweet tea set it down, walked away. A third person came with food said catfish dinner, had obviously had her thumb in my tarter sauce side, set my plate down, walked away. The end, never saw another person after that. Service horrible, sweet potato like warm, fried okra like old chewing gum. Fish was good. I finally got. up, asked a manager for my ticket to which he said I will find your ticket. I thanked him and told him the service was horrible today, had 3 people come to my table none of which took care of anything. He apologized and comp’d my lunch. Guess I will boycott again for awhile in the hopes they clean up their act. To be noted, dined at 12:30pm on at Saturday, not busy at all!

The restaurant was clean, service is good, good food, good value, I’m unsure of what people are complaining about. I’d eat here again for sure.

Where do I start? My husband and I have two small girls so it took us a few minutes to get all settled at our table. Before I opened my menu the waitress was at our table asking if we were ready to order or if we wanted drinks first. I told her we haven’t been to a Cracker Barrel in twenty years and we just sat down. She went and got us water and upon arrival a minute later she asked again if we were ready to order. I was highly offended by the waitress as she felt the need to keep calling me honey or sweetie. She came back a third time to take our order. I still didn’t know what I wanted so I told my husband to order first and he did. Then she said and what can I get for you honey. I wanted to say I’m not your honey but she made it so awkward that I didn’t order anything. After my husbands questionable food came out she came back to check on us and made it a point to tell me how beautiful I was. Just so weird and awkward. I felt like she was hitting on me infront of my husband and kids. Pretty sure I will not be returning for another 20 years. Management needs to know that it’s not ok for their wait staff to speak to ppl like this.

Have never understood complaints about this place. If you want in and out quickly… don’t come here. Yes they have a general store and yes it may take a while to check out correspondingly. But the wait staffs(at every cracker barrel I’ve been to) are always quick and courteous. I’ve never had a messed up order here. The food is pretty quality(yes some of it’s frozen and nuked, but it’s still tasty). I’m a particular fan of the sawmill gravy as it’s bacon based instead of sausage based… which is hard to accomplish to say the least. And I was able to even snag an early Xmas present from the general store. All around a good experience.

I love their food, my only complaint is their bathroom doesn’t fit their decoration. It give the vibe of the truck stop bathrooms.

Well I have eaten here on and off. Dinning in and carry out a both services were mediocre. I guess it may just be the atmosphere and the Ora of this place because everyone is just here. The food is sub par. I don’t think that it’s ever really hot. I dined in and wasn’t impressed with the food or the waitress. She seemed as if she really didn’t want to be bothered. Ordered carry out and the food was just ok. Always have ordered breakfast. I know the lunch is good at other locations but haven’t worked up enough nerve to get it at this particular location. If my breakfast isn’t great I won’t even try lunch or dinner. Breakfast is the easiest thing you can make.

What can I say? I gave it a shot. The service was fair to middlin’. I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, with green beans and potato casserole. My wife had basically the same. Both of our chicken fried steaks had the exact same shape and tasted like one of those cheap frozen things you buy in bulk. The mashed potatoes were actually good. The gravy was bland, and the green beans tasted like they were out of a can. The potato casserole tasted like onion… just onion. The water was wet and cold and the bill was cheap-ish. Won’t be back by choice.

eat here often. have a fav dish, spicy grill catfish filet, fried okra, baked sweet potato. terrible dinner tonight. the waitress did ask and promptly told me she would redo the sides. a little later she retuned with a new sweet potato still semi warm and never returned with new okra. I ate my fish and corn muffin and left. paid my bill. not once did a manager speak to me. it was a busy time so you would think food would come out fresh and hot. honestly not first time bad food during busy hours. couple things I think, bad management, need new cooks. if I return will have to be earlier in the day before dinner rush hour.

I like to come here for the breakfast but their dinners are just as good. Friday fish fry(9.99) has absolutely it 8 catfish strips fried in cornmeal. They were hot & had a light crispy texture. I could enjoy these without any sauce.. Of course you have an abundance of sides to choose from. My recommendation is the hashbrown casserole & Mac n cheese. Both are cheesy but the casserole has a mix of onions in it. My fried okra wasn’t very crispy & I could tell they had been in the warming tray too long. Our waitress was nice and was making plenty of trips to fill my sweet tea glass as each refill she brought had a lot of ice in it. The price is reasonable for the number of strips and two tasty sides.

They cannot wait until you park your butt on one of the most uncormfortable chairs on earth to ask what you want want to drink. Hopefully you also decide what you want to eat in the next 10 seconds. HURRYUP.– I questioned this and was told that her manager told her to do it that way. Upon check out — which took 10 minutes in line due do purchases of clothing and nic nacs etc by others — I ask the asst Mgr about it. No smile, he said — We are a corporation and that is the way they want it. Yes we do get complaints about it. DUH. What a Jerk off. The only saving grace is the food is decent. The place is always noisy, you can hardly have a conversation.

Rude, rude, rude. We were greeted and got seated right away by the friendly hostess. Our server didn’t show immediately but several minutes had passed and instead of introducing herself, she only yelled«Drinks!» on multiple occasions, as if we didn’t hear her the first time. She gathered our drink orders and left without even a smile or a «thank you.» I don’t know if she thought were didn’t speak English or that we wouldn’t understand if she actually introduced herself. She is Caucasian and we are Hispanic, that is all I will say. I requested a new server since minutes after, she was interacting with other(Caucasian) customers behind us with a smile, acting kind and courteous and without yelling«drinks!». The manager was told of our request(as I witnessed this) but he never bothered showing up at our table to inquire about the service, the food or the reason why behind the request. After the switch, the old server kept coming back to our table to talk to us. I specifically told her that we didn’t want anything to do with her and why we requested a new server. She continued to come over to our table THREE times. Needless to say, it was extremely ackward and uncomfortable. We WERE frequent customers…1−2 times a month… not anymore!

We came here again, but this time for breakfast as I am visiting and our experience this week was perfect for dinner. Why two stars? We had to request another waitress. The first waitress was super nice to other tables and when she came to us she was rude. She asked us «Drinks»? Took only the order of few in our party but not the rest. It was obvious she was not happy taking care of us… OMG…After we had a new waitress this lady came to us saying she was sorry because she was tired. Then at the end came again to apologize telling us that she did not want us to think it was anything else as why she was so rude to us. The manager never came. Hmmmm I am not coming here again with my family …we are visiting from the Pacific Northwest and we are not used to this! Thanks but no thanks. Blah.

Food is your normal good Cracker Barrel food, wait staff is friendly. Get there early if it’s a Sunday as there is a huge church behind it & the wait can be over an hour if you get in that rush. Gift store has some adorable things but is entirely to packed, difficult to walk with a lot of people in there, things getting knocked over so check anything before you buy it.

Cracker Barrel never ceases to provide a delicious meal, an interesting and down home environment and great service. Fish Friday was great! The selections on their menu, reminiscent of a good old farm cooked meal, only leave me frustrated due to the fact that I can eat just one each time we go. We had to drag ourselves away from the eye catching Americana strewn about their gift shop, and for whatever reason… I like the old country music playing in the bathroom.

Service was slow. Server never gave us options of sides that come with our food but then brought out sides with our meal that we never ordered. Ham in omelet was very fatty. Would not come back to this location again. I have had good luck with Cracker Barrel before but not this morning.

Classic Cracker Barrel… food that tastes home cooked out of your moms kitchen! If you get anything with butter don’t confuse it with ice cream… it’s actually a scoop of butter :-)

This is the first time I’ve been to a Cracker Barrel, and I thought it was quite charming. The store part of the restaurant was like a mad-house. The Sunday lunch crowd was pretty big. There were hoards of people perusing the merchandise waiting to be called for their table. I liken it to wandering aimlessly through the drugstore waiting for a prescription to be filled. If you’re not careful, you’ll end up buying crap you don’t need or really want. We were seated and I quickly jumped to the fried chicken dinner. For sides, I had the mashed potatoes and boiled cabbage(for a change and to make myself think I was eating something healthy to balance the meal). Overall, I thought the chicken was pretty good – better than what I can find in Southern California anyway. The one thing I wasn’t too crazy about was having to take the bill to the register in the store to pay. It wasn’t so much the task in and of itself – it was having to wait in line behind people buying T-shirts and bubble gum and then having the clerk try to sell you stuff(«do you need any candy or other souvenirs today before I ring you up?»). I understand stores being creative to reap in a few more dollars, but this feels too contrived.

It’s a slow news day if I’m writing Unilocal reviews on national restaurant chains. I have researched Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® to bring you interesting facts and a short review of a recent dining experience. ** On September 19, 1969, the first Cracker Barrel Old Country Store opened in Lebanon, Tennessee. CB has now grown to have 597 locations across the country. Waffle House has over 1,500 locations in comparison. ** «Cracker Barrel» defined: characteristic of country life; «cracker-barrel philosophy»; «folksy humor»; «the air of homespun country boys». ** In 2009 Cracker Barrel Old Country Store reported revenues of $ 2.367 Billion. ** CB is unable to give any exact calorie or fat content information of their food. I find this unbelievable in our health conscious society. There are 597 stores in 41 states and CB can’t tell me the nutritional content of what I’m putting in my body? ** CB always chooses new locations that are easy to get to from the interstate highway system. Coincidentally, CB is one of the nation’s top billboard advertisers. ** Few people realize every artifact at their local Cracker Barrel Old Country Store location is authentic. Each artifact is also securely fastened to the wall. ** Cracker Barrel Old Country Store does not offer discounts or coupons. ** All Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations are company-owned and operated. They do not franchise any of their stores. _____I’d consider myself a fan of Cracker Barrel as it’s a dependable breakfast stop. My recent visit with my wife was under $ 20 and the food was tasty. The biscuits and gravy are a good value for $ 2.99. I pity the poor parents who try to make it through the gauntlet a.k.a. the retail store with kids.____
