Tomy B. Salon Long Island

Great experience from start to finish. I have thick wavy hair that needs a special cut so that it’s not just a ball of fuzz on my head — not that there is anything wrong with having a ball of fuzz but it’s not the look i’m going for–
So i found this salon exploring places in Nassau county for wavy curly hair, read great reviews, and found their Unilocal deal $ 20 for $ 40 so it’s $ 20 off– (however check with them first as they have other promotions as well and you cannot combine).
I had a consult with Tomy and he really seemed to understand what look that i was going for and the best style for my outdoor/​travel lifestyle. I had brought a picture and he honestly told me it wouldnt look like that with my hair type. I appreciated the honesty!
I had a good wash and detangle and then Tomy gave me an expert cut. My hair was then dried so he can see the way it sits and cut more layers underneath. He made sure i was happy before i left and invited me for a free follow up. I’m so happy that i found this place though you do pay for it, it’s worth every cent.

Love this place! I would never go anywhere else ever again to get my hair done! Everyone is so friendly and they make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Worth every penny

I came to this salon for the first time about a week ago and I could not be happier. I went to Jessica for a color, haircut, and blow out and left feeling great. Whenever I get a haircut I end up going home and redoing the blowout because I hate how everyone does it, but I did not have that issue with Jessica! She knew exactly what I wanted. I got my hair dyed a chocolate brown and it really looks great. My hair feels so soft and healthy and usually after I get it dyed it feels coarse and knotty. Whenever I go to a salon to get my hair dyed a darker brown, it ends up looking black and unnatural. I really love the color and cut and can’t wait to come back! I have gotten so many compliments. Everyone in the salon was so friendly which is not always what you get going to some salons. I highly recommend coming here.

Seems like the owner just opened this space as an expansion from old space. They did a great job with the fit out. The salon almost feels like an open layout kitchen and living room, where everyone knows each other and mills about doing their thing. The owner is quick to offer hospitality and coffee.
Jessica has been cutting my hair for about a year now, so I was excited to hear she settled down in this great space. Her men’s haircuts are spot on, even for picky customers like me. Even today I asked her to do something a bit different than usual, and as always she nailed it.
I’m usually the type of guy to get his hair cut every 6 – 8 weeks… but now with this new space I may be going back more often!

Feel right at home and a movie star at the same time when you goto Tomy B. The entire team is both talented and super friendly. My hair has never been better. I just love the volumizing conditioner that is customized to your color! Simply fabulous — you must try it out!

Went for my first time yesterday after being referred to Tomy. Great place, excellent warm people and Tomy gave me a great haircut. I was previously used to getting $ 20 barber haircuts on the fly. You pay more with Tomy but you definitely get what you pay for. He takes the time with you, like the other reviews say, to make sure he gets to know you and he gets things right. Tomy and everyone at the salon are excellent!

Let me start by saying I absolutely love the work that Tomy has done! I went in wanting highlights but I had a few different ideas in mind. After showing him some pictures he said, «I know exactly what I’m going to do,» and so I let him work on my hair like it was his own blank canvas.
One of the main reasons I chose this salon over any other salon was the fact that they do not use bleach when lightening your hair! This results in much less damage to the hair and color that just looks amazing. I absolutely plan to return to this salon for any future work up be done to my hair! :)

First let me start off by saying after my review Tomy did call me and leave a voice message asking me to come back and let him work in my hair again.
An email? No
Text messages asking me to confirm my appointment. And you can not respond to the text messages. I did not confirm my appointment. After my appointment day and time passed I did receive a phone call asking me to reschedule.
A two appointment process? I don’t remember being told it would take 2 appointments to get my hair to a warm chocolate brown. I do remember being told I didn’t seem excited about the work that had been done. Why would I go back? My hair is frizzy, I can’t find a product that remedies the problem. I have ALWAYS been able to control my curly hair.
As the saying goes… First time shame on you, second time shame on me.
Don’t get me wrong the ladies that work there and Tomy are very nice. Tomy and I discussed what I wanted as far as my hair color, and what my hair color would look like. It doesn’t. Just looking at my hair makes me want to cry!!! I think Tomy used all the wrong products on my hair… I’m so upset!

Update…months and months later and hair trim after hair trim (to try and ease the spilt ends from the horrendous hair products that where used) my hair is looking and feeling much better. Thanks to a real hair professional!

Won’t go anywhere else after Tomy’s. My friend told me about this «Boutique Salon» and at first I thought it was absurd to go to some women’s salon for a haircut. I go to my place, get my simple hair cut and I’m in and out. But, when you find yourself bored with the same old look, you figure why not.
Best decision I ever made! As soon as I walked in I was greeted. There was no awkward take a seat and wait, space out and look up at the ceiling waiting for someone to call you up.
I was offered a coffee as soon as I walked in and it felt really nice to have been acknowledged. I sat for like 2 minutes and was called for the hair cut. If was my first time there and Tomy took the time to notice my current haircut and ask me how and if I’d want to change it up. There’s no question Tomy knows hair because he noticed my thinning hair situation and the awkward cow licks my hair make in the back of my head. At that point I knew he knew what he was doing and I gave him free reign and he gave me the best haircut I could have asked for.
I usually leave my barber thinking eh it’s nice to get a hair cut. I left Tomy’s APPRECIATING my hair cut. The guy knows his stuff! I was thrilled.
No question I’ll be back and anyone reading this should do the same. Trust me, leave the barber behind. Seek a professional and see what it means to get a real hair cut and look gooooood!

Tony was great! Beautiful setup and very pleasant people. I’ve always had short almost military style hair and decided to start growing it out after my last haircut. It got to the point that it looked like a little boys haircut and I decided to cut it back down. I got on Unilocal and searched men’s hair cut, while visiting my girlfriend in Long Island and found Tomy. I called asked if they could do a walk-​in and they said no problem, got me in a half hour later. I told Tomy the situation and what I wanted to do now. He didn’t like my idea to go back to short and explained that my hair would look good long on top while shorter on the sides. I’m extremely happy with his work and even happier with the directions he gave me to tell other hair dressers as I travel a lot and am not always able to see the same person.
There were some negatives for Tomy, but they did not hurt my experience at all. The location was difficult to find because the Unilocal address sends you a little astray, but they helped me find my way. Also, this was the most expensive men’s hair cut I have ever paid for, but again I’m ok with that because of the experience and how happy I am with his work.
I will be sure to see Tomy whenever our schedules align perfectly again! And I would recommend any other man looking for a new hair direction or a new great upscale dresser to do the same!

I first went to Tomy over 6 years ago when he was in Roslyn and have followed him faithfully to the Old Westbury location. Tomy truly loves what he does and it shows. The salon is a boutique, located on an estate. You must bear left towards the guesthouse.
A bevy of beautiful staff are waiting to serve you, offering refreshments including espresso and cappuccino. Tomy really considers what is best for your hair and what you are comfortable with — something that is rare in a stylist. Usually they either do whatever you say without letting you know whether or not that particular look will work for you OR they listen to what you say and then do whatever they feel like! I have long straight hair so sometimes stylists see it as a blank canvas and do whatever they want. This usually means choppy layers I didn’t ask for or cutting WAY more than I indicated… not Tomy.

Going to see Tomy is such a unique hair experience! This petite & posh salon is a hidden gem in Westbury. As soon as you step foot through the door you are made to feel like royalty. Tomy is a true innovator, cutting hair dry as opposed to wet. I have been coming to him for haircuts since 2007. Tomy is a genuinely kind person and a true hair professional.

Went there again today. He cut my hair and my wife’s hair. They even will make you cappuccinos with Lavazza coffee.

AMAZING!!! Of all the high end salons i have been to this is BY FAR THE BEST. I have never gotten such a good hair coloring, cut, and styling before. the service was perfect, and all for a good price too. i have never seen my hair look so good in my life. i definitely just found my new hair stylist! i highly recommend this salon !!!

This man destroyed my hair. It was 4 years ago and I still have extremely damage hair. His prices are a ripoff for absolutely no talent at all. If he had any, my hair would have not been burnt off by his products. Please do not go here if you have healthy hair and want to keep it that way.
Never, ever let this man touch your hair if you want to keep it! I had beautiful, long blonde hair and went to Tomy right before my wedding in 2007. After spending $ 600 for highlights, I was left with orange and yellow stripped hair that broke and snapped off whenever I touched or brushed it. It was so terrible that I had to cut off 7 inches of hair and I still had horrible damage. Tomy had no idea how to fix the color. I trusted him and he told me he would «fix it for free.» I wish I had stopped there. he then completely dyed me black and re-​did highlights that looked white! he also snuck in ways to charge me for treatments that I needed because of his destruction. My hair was so damaged that I was not even able to wash or brush it. I had to wear a head full of extensions for my wedding and felt severely depressed over the loss of my blonde, lower back length smooth locks that I had since childhood. I felt like a completely different, ugly person for years. It is 2011, and I still have extensive damage. The hair that broke off by the root grows in terribly and is now only up to my clavicle bone with constantly splitting ends and breakage. I will never forget Tomy and how he changed my hair, routine, and appearance for life. I wish I would or could have sued him. Please, please to not go to this salon if you want to keep your healthy hair. You will leave broken and fried. I cringe at the day I ever stepped foot in that salon.
