The food and service were sub-par. The server lady appeared to be having a bad day and acted like she was doing us a favor. The miso soup was almost tasteless — watered down, and didn’t have any tofu in it. We also sampled a few rolls… Spider, Dragon and Alaska. Skimpy on the filling and tasted kind of bland. I won’t be going back.

Best teriyaki in Olympia! The food was delicious and fresh although not as healthy as expected. The sushi was neat and for vegans and vegetarians.

I’ve eaten here plenty of times before and the food was wonderful and the service was adequate. However, I’m VERY disappointed with the service my son and I received tonight. Not only did we run out of water right away, but the server never refilled it once. As far as the food is concerned, I decided to order something new and try the tofu teriyaki. I also ordered the kamikaze roll, a favorite of mine. The tofu teriyaki was a hefty portion, served battered and fried, with a side of rice and teriyaki sauce. I ate about 3 of the squares and was sick of it. It was cooked well, just not something I was fond of. Pushing that aside, I ate a piece of my sushi roll. After chewing it a few times, my mouth started filling with a fishy taste, but I finished it. The aftertaste was the gross taste of old fish. I started smelling the rest of the roll and it was pretty pungent. The owner noticed and came over with boxes saying«is something wrong?» I told her I didn’t really care for the tofu and the roll smelled and tasted«fishy». Instead of apologizing or trying to make it right, she got annoyed, telling me that it’s tuna and treating me like I was stupid for even saying that. I told her I’ve had this many times here, and elsewhere; it’s not supposed to taste«fishy». She wasn’t nice at all. Thirsty and irritated, I went up to the register to pay. She charged me the whole amount, $ 22. I couldn’t believe it. She made NOATTEMPT to make it right. She could’ve offered me something different, taken the roll off my bill, or at LEAST acted like she cares and apologize for the awful experience. I won’t be back to this place again. Sucks too, I used to really enjoy it.

The moment we walked in, the host was not friendly. We said hi, and no response. She looked as if we were intruding in her space and wanted us gone. We asked how her day was, no response, and gave our menus and promptly left. Horrible service. I have never been to a restaurant where in the bathroom, they used toilet paper towels in place of paper towels for your hands. Since we were the only ones in the restaurant, it was uncomfortably quite, with the host just staring at us from behind the counter. I ordered the«spyder» roll, and the seaweed was chewy, the avocado was browning, the roll itself was very poorly done. It wasn’t wrapped tight and it was sloppy and not made with fresh ingredients at all! The location was very hard to get in and out as well. I will not be going back here again.

It has almost a homey feel to the environment which I loved! The workers are all really nice, price is pretty gosh darn cheap. Food isn’t that good though /: I got california rolls and they didn’t taste fresh they tasted like the walmart ones that are frozen then defrosted. My husband got beef terriyaki and white rice. The beef was pretty good and white rice was white rice

Gross, overpriced, greasy food. And they don’t care if you don’t like it. Whether you can choke it down or not, you WILL be charged full price. I will not be going back and I will encourage others to stay away.

Very disappointing service. I went in by myself on a weeknight about 7PM and was«greeted» with a cold reception and shown to my table. I asked for water to drink. After 15min of being ignored, I left, never having ordered. The place wasn’t overly busy or understaffed. But as someone who travels much on business and eats out frequently, a pleasant welcome and acknowledgement, even when busy, are essential. With poor hospitality, how can I get excited about the food?

Recently moved to the neighborhood and friends recommended this place. Didn’t feel like cooking tonight, so decided to give Fuji Teriyaki a shot. What a let down. There was only one other table occupied at 5pm on a Sunday, but we felt rushed to order. Iceberg lettuce salad drowned in thousand island dressing. Tempura was really greasy– should be light not soaked in oil. The dipping sauce for tempura is supposed to be light and aromatic– this was extremely watered down soy sauce. Tonkatsu was okay but the katsu sauce was lightly drizzled across the top with none on the side. I would have asked for more of the server had ever returned to our table. She did not, so after my initial glass of water that I emptied in the first 10 minutes, I was left thirsty the rest of the meal. The beef teriyaki was fatty, the accompanying onions practically raw– would be better grilled or sautéed. The eel roll was okay, with a little too much sauce. Overall, just disappointing. Guess I’ll have to drive to Teriyaki Delight in Tumwater when I have a hankering for teriyaki from now on.

One of my FAVOURITEPLACESTOEAT! Great, and I mean GREAT food for CHEAP! Unless you order sushi, you’ll be hard pressed to find a menu item for more than $ 10, though even the full 14-piece sushi rolls don’t exceed $ 15! And the portions are really big too, not to mention the food is really delicious. Seriously, I’ve been to places that are twice as expensive with food that is half as good. The sushi is great and you get really big, long rolls for not very much money. The tempura udon is amazing, I always get that. My friends have gotten teriyaki, and I tried some, and the rice had a great texture to it and the sauce was yummy. I’ve been here several times, and the ambiance is lovely. It’s nice enough to take someone on a date to, but without breaking the bank, but it is also a great place to bring friends. It isn’t huge, but it has huge windows, so it feels cozy but not cramped. It is well lit, has glass-topped tables, and a lovely wooden floor. The only downsides are that sometimes it’s hard to understand the waitress, and it is sometimes hard for her to understand me. Also, don’t order the mochi, it’s just about the only thing that I don’t think they make in-house, and it’s kind of weird and gritty. Anyway. GOHERE. Delicious food for great value. I’ve paid twice as much for sushi that was wasn’t half as good as the sushi here.

We love Fuji Japanese restaurant for many reasons. The main reason is for their lunch specials. All under $ 6.25. From chicken teriyaki with Joseph to a great yucky soba. Steen he is fond of the chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu, tempura lunch. The service is usually very fiery fast, but on this visit the staff is one and it is slow. The food always taste good. We will come back anyway.

I stopped by here to get some items to go. The lady working was very cold and indifferent. I don’t need my hiney kissed but basic niceties are always welcome as a paying customer i.e. thank you or really any pleasantries work for me. She took my order, rang it up, slid the bill over and after I paid she said«sit down and wait there» and pointed to a chair. I waited and when food was ready she slid it across the counter. I asked if there was a fork as well as chop sticks(as my 4 year old was sharing with me) and she looked insulted and pointed to the bag. No smile, no nothing. I dunno, the food was good, nothing out of the ordinary, and I guess I just felt like an inconvenience. Meh. Customer service is as important to me as the food and the lack of it here just left me feeling like maybe I will come back, maybe I wont. Probably won’t.

Let’s see how can I start. I just moved back to WA for work form California. Land of the sushi Kings. Cali LOVES sushi what can I say. In WA not so much it seems. There are few sushi spots around in Lacey, Olympia and Tumwater. The ‘best’ spots are in Seattle. BUT for this area I have pretty much tried them all… Koibito, Sushi Go Round(which is a rip off save ur money) and I have tried others. Fujii Teriyaki doesn’t seem to be well known but It’s by far the best sushi spot in this area in comparison to a California sushi spot as I will get in this area :) The selection is good, the portion size is good/decent. The food is good. What impressed me is that they did not have Unagi Donburi on the menu(which is on ever single suhi menu in California) but when I asked about it but they made it for me. The portion size of the unagi was good but it wasn’t enough rice. I will say it was delicious!(just wish it was a little more rice with it.) I had the dragon roll and it was really good too. Of all the places I have gone too around Thurston county this one is by far the best to me and I am a sushi connoisseur it’s one of my fave foods. While it will never compare to the Naked Fish in Cali(One of my fave spots) It’s as close as I will get. SO if you love sushi as much as I do and want a good selection and good prices this IS the hidden gem to go to!

Hadn’t eaten here in a while. Did an order to go and the service in that short time was rude as hell! The old lady taking my order looked like I was bothering her to run my credit card. Won’t go back on the horrible service alone !

Came here for lunch expecting pretty average sushi/teriyaki based on the look and feel of the place. The service was awful, server wouldn’t even make eye contact or acknowledge yes or no when we spoke to her. Rolls were cold as if been refrigerated and teriyaki meals were all cold. Miso soup was luke warm and when we asked for additional soup a little hotter it came back scolding hot, burning my 5 year old nephews mouth. Salad was the only thing good thing about this place. I feel bad writing such review but feel you should be forewarned.

I was almost discouraged to give this place a try based on the reviews I read on here, but I’m glad we decided to give it a try. The prices are nothing but fair, in fact it is pretty cheap for a good meal here. The service was friendly, our 3 sushi rolls were totally fresh, and well executed, creative and prepared fast! I wouldn’t necessarily return because there are better sushi places around, BUT if in the area and looking for an affordable quick meal on the run, this is a good option.

Probably the worst food I’ve had in olympia. Terrible service too. It was so bad I couldn’t finish it. I got the Philadelphia roll and spicy tuna roll. And what they did to this poor fish was inexcusable. The salmon in the Philadelphia roll was gray and rubbery. Disgusting. And the spicy tuna roll offended even further. This poor tuna was slathered in a sweet, citrusy spicy glaze that was so gross as to render the whole roll inedible. I couldn’t stomach another bite. We paid and left in a hurry, the grumpy waitress never inquired about the meal or the uneaten food. My first and last time. AVOID. Koibito is the place to go.

It’s «FUJITIME» This place stands out for its consistency in food quality and excellent service. From my understanding it is family owned and operated and has been so for quite awhile. The restaurant use to live in a small spot down on 4th sandwiched between two other Asian inspired restaurants, but has since moved into its new home out on East Bay Drive where it no longer has to war for attention. This new location offers a bit more in window watching but is not the most important reason for you to walk through Fuji’s doors. Their lunch specials are especially cheap and come in portions sizes that you would normally see during dinner service. Today I ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch combo which consisted of a large pile of moist chicken strips slathered in sweet sauce, a mound of white rice the size of a miniature football, and a small side salad. All this for under $ 6! Not only did this fill me up but I doubt I will have to eat again for the rest of the day. Everything was yummy and tasted exactly like I would come to expect. As mentioned before the service was outstanding. The woman waiting on us was so attentive and catering to our every need that I almost felt like we were guests of honor. She was very mindful of the levels of our water glasses as it was a near 90 degrees and ensured they remained full at all times and she checked back numerous times to gauge our satisfaction. Sometimes this kind of attention can be bothersome during an eating experience as it’s a constant disruption, but her approach offered the right amount of sweetness that wasn’t fake or forced. It’s refreshing to feel welcomed when you walk through the doors of a restaurant and have superior service throughout the whole dining experience. My one grievance with Fuji is their sushi. Being a Japanese restaurant sushi encompasses nearly half their menu so it’s extremely tempting to order and I have on many occasions. However, the problem is that the freshness of the fish is usually hit or miss. On one of my most recent visits when I ordered the salmon nigiri($ 3.95) it was rather fishy tasting, in that unpleasant way. Other times I had good success with their fish and enjoyed my experience. This lack of consistent freshness regrettably causes me to refrain from taking the gamble of ordering from that side of the menu. That aside, have I mentioned the best part yet, Drive-thru window! I love this aspect of Fuji for the simple reason that you can call in a takeout order and drive right up to the window ten minutes later and grab your grub. It makes me feel special and exclusive, almost as though I am getting away with something that shouldn’t be. Japanese drive-thru, what mastermind crafted that idea? Definitely recommended if you want a cheap filling lunch or good quantities any time of day or night, and with the addition of the drive-thru window at the new location you can have«FUJITIME» anytime, even on the go.
