Worst place I have ever taken my daughter. Alright so when my daughter first started here I thought it was great. The parents have to bring the children’s meals which I liked because I knew what she was eating. Or so I thought. I noticed a few weeks in that a lot of food was coming back withher. I asked them about it and they said my daughter has a hard time focusing on eating and just wants to play. I thought that was a little unprofessional because this was happening every day she went there and she ended up not eating anything until 6 pm everyday. And I don’t need to explain how unacceptable that is. Also I noticed my daughter was ignored by the staff and she absolutely hated going there and would not let go if me when I dropped her off which she had never done at her other daycare. So the staff would pretend to console her and as soon as I was out the door they plunked her down and walked away from her. Not to tend to other children mind you to talk and gossip with their coworkers. Thank god the day finally came when I said enough was enough and switched her back to her previous daycare. I travel 35 minutes out of my way to take my daughter to daycare just to avoid having to come back to great beginnings. Don’t waste your time.

My two kids attended Great Beginnings(G.B.) for two years between the ages of 1 – 3 and 3 – 5 respectively. We were very happy with their care. G.B. is staffed by teachers who will truly love and nurture your children. Owned and operated in the Olympia area by two child development experts for 30 years this is the sort of place people who went there years ago now decide to send their kids. G.B. teachers consistently shared small, thoughtful observations that provided helpful insight into our kids’ growth and development. We really appreciated the covered outdoor space that helped kids get outside time even on those less-nice fall/spring Pacific NW days. The entire outdoor space is more spacious and complete then most Oly-area daycare. The student body is also more economically diverse than most Oly-area daycare centers. G.B. also was very supportive in using cloth diapers with our youngest child for two years and helped him transition successfully to using the potty. While they were at G.B. our kids talked about the other kids and teachers positively — including on the weekends when they started missing their friends. After having aged-out to new schools closer to our home, both our kids miss the teachers and talk about them often. You won’t find a more accessible, affordable, educational daycare /preschool option for working parents in Olympia!
