I love living in a small town and I LOVE supporting small businesses. Sometimes they even support you back! My daughter owns a viola we purchased from RL Ray. It was left locked up at school before a weekend concert and she was beside herself. As a last ditch effort we called the shop and they were so gracious. We walked out of there with a gorgeous loaner on a signature and a smile. Thank you R.L. Ray!

We’ve been very satisfied with our child’s rental cello and their customer service. More expensive than the bigger non-specialty shops but we’ll worth it.

Ray’s is the best string shop in town. Their instruments are out for rental or buy at VERY reasonable prices and range from decent to professional instruments. Don’t even try comparing this place to Yenney’s or Music 6000(different league). I have no idea why there was only one review on Unilocal! The employees really know what they’re doing and are very amiable people: Ben, John, and Mr. Ray himself to name a few. Great for parents and children as the shop is filled with them. They have everything you need: smallest to full size violins/violas/cellos, cases, bows, bow rehairing, rosin, shoulder rests, chin rests, strings, etc. They’ve dominated over the orchestras in town with their services and everybody reaps the benefits of their instruments. Very up to date, professionally made, beautiful sound and look to the instruments.

I have been meaning to go into this darling shop for about 15 years. I finally did a few weeks ago when my partner needed bow wax for her stand up bass. Going into this shop is like stepping back into time. You can see tons of violins in various stages of construction and repair, it is like a museum or an art piece. Just gorgeous. They also have helpful modern items like flashcards and lists of local instructors. Pop in here. Its almost like meditation.
