RJ’s Gourmet Grill

While out with family we wanted something that wasn’t typical. Decided to check on Unilocal and found this place. Awesome food. Great service. Love it. Will be going back soon. Only thing did not have traditional tea of indian. But the rest of the food was terrific.

I’m only giving it 4 stars, for the reason that they don’t serve Indian tea or mango Lassi, beyond that the food is amazing.

Rj’s does a remarkable job of pulling off a great variety of menu offerings. Went to lunch here with three office mates and among us we had two Indian dishes, a gyro sandwich with fries, and fish and chips. Ordering was at the counter, our meals came out promptly, and all dishes were excellent and of good proportions. They also serve wine and beer as well as milkshakes! Extensive vegan options too.

Great food and service. I tried the Samosa, malai kofta and the lamb kebob and everything was delicious. I’m excited to come back and try other Indian and Mediterranean dishes. The owner and server were both really friendly and explained that there are a ton of gluten free and vegan options and they don’t use MSG.

Great, reasonably priced Indian /​Mediterranean spot. This is an order at the counter place, something I love because when I go to a restaurant I feel I am generally waiting on the waiters more often then not.
Gluten free on lots of dishes if that is what you are into.
Had the lamb kabobs and malai kofta, both tasty.

This place is a little different. Greek, American, and Indian food (the Indian music gives away the main ethnicity). Little stars projected onto the walls and ceilings. But, hey… it’s Olympia. I had a lamb gyro that was very good. It was hard not to compare it to the gyro place across the street, so I did. This place is a lot better. The pita tasted really fresh, as did the rest of the gyro. Another difference is that this place is much cleaner (at the other place I had to wipe the crumbs and food off of my table before sitting down). I would have tried some of the Indian food here, but that seemed a little heavy for lunch. I will save that for next time and I will definitely be back.

HOLY F— THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. Grabbed takeout there a week or so ago with some friends right before they closed. I ended up getting the beef gyro despite wanting to shove everything in my face immediately. The meat was extremely well-​seasoned, the pita was soft, there was a ton of cheese and sauce and crunchy veg. It was hands down one of the best gyros I’ve had in my life. Munched on some fries and milkshakes friends got and they were legit as well. I am literally dreaming of excuses to go back here and try EVERYTHING. Oh, also, the gentleman who helped us was super friendly, polite and funny and made for an awesome experience. I really, really hope this sticks around. Don’t screw this one up too, Oly. C’mon.

Very good!!! Tikka masala was SUPERB as was the hummus, mango yogurt drink was excellent and refreshing, and had no complaints about the lamb gyro. Service was top notch and staff was very friendly. Would easily go back again. Only compliant is the part of town and there were some rough characters hanging out nearby, including one who yelled racial slurs to the staff outside. They don’t have a website (although they are working on it they said) but do have a Facebook page with a menu and pics.

I’m usually skeptical of restaurants that have erratic menus — where it’s not clear what kind of cuisine the place is doing. This place isn’t some sort of weird fusion restaurant, it simply is a burger joint AND a Greek restaurant AND an Indian restaurant at the same time.
RJ’s manages to have a diverse, confusing menu but nails dish after dish, regardless of where in the world it comes from.
The Indian curries and rices are some of the best I’ve had in Olympia, and they have a full selection of curries with choice of protein along with several vegetarian and vegan options. I have a Muslim co-​worker who greatly appreciates them serving halal lamb as well, and they have a ton of gluten-​free options too. Their spice levels are no joke either — if you want an authentically hot curry, they can accommodate you.
The gyros and kabobs look and taste fantastic too, and I’ve not tried them yet but am planning on giving their dolmas and falafel a shot as well. They have burgers and fries ranging from the standard fare to more adventurous burgers featuring some Indian and Greek ingredients and sauces.
This place doesn’t seem like it should work, but it does. One of my favorite lunch places in town!

The gyros are so much better then across the street! The meat melts in your mouth! The bread is soft and not chewy! The lamb curry is bomb and just the right level of spice!

Varied menu — huge burgers to falafel and gyros to several curry dishes and naan. They have vegan dishes too. We ordered three different curry dishes and they all came out flavorful and well balanced. Their tikka masala and coconut curry were much better than other Indian restaurants we’ve tried in Olympia. Lamb was very tender. Very friendly staff and clean establishment. Give them a try!

Our family doesn’t often eat this type of food, but if we do, we would like to it to good. And it was here! We have multiple food allergies also, and the owner was very helpful with answering questions. Many items can be made gluten free, and despite being celiac, we had no issues here. Helpful staff, clean restaurant, many diverse menu options for all, booths for privacy and large tables for groups, and tasty food … happy to have a place like this in downtown Olympia. Don’t be discouraged by the location. Definitely try it out!

Clean environment — friendly men willing to explain the menu. Did not know that this place was here but I’m glad I came in. I will return. I highly suggest it for anyone wanting to experience authentic food that is made only when you order it.

I had the chicken kabobs for lunch one day and was very happy with the freshness of the salad and rice. There were a lot of cucumber pieces in the salad that had been nicely peeled and sliced thinly. The dressing had a nice acidic flavor which complimented the delicious pieces of chicken from the kabobs. The pita wedges were welcome and tasted fine.

My daughter and I stopped in here tonight after reading all of the wonderful Unilocal reviews. Unilocal did not disappoint. We walked in and immediately loved the ambiance. Very cool light/​stars on ceiling and traditional indian music playing.
They have quite a varied menu — from authentic indian food, to bison burgers, to fish and chips, to gyros.
We both had lamb gyros which were THE BEST WE HAVE EVER HAD. Everything was fresh and delicious. The tzaziki (sp) sauce was out of this world. The gyros beat any place in town.
They were decent sized and reasonably priced as well. The pita bread was warm and I might be mistaken but appeared homemade (soft and yummmmmy).
The place was nearly empty which is a shame– people are missing out on some amazing food!

Awesome place. The food is delicious and the price is quite reasonable. We had the lamb gyro and lamb kabobs with rice and the spices and flavor were super tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful in answering questions. We will definitely be back!
