Southbay Dickerson’s BBQ

This is purely about South Bay BBQ and not Top Rung Brewery.
Tonight we met our friends and family at Top Rung for a selection of beer and BBQ. The beer was on point, the BBQ was the worst service I have ever had and zero flavor.
We arrived at 6:35 and walk right up to the food truck. (Food trucks are specifically designed to be 10 – 15 minute service). Nobody was in line and nobody was in the truck. The young lady showed up after a few minutes and took our order.
Pretty simple order, Pulled Pork with Mac-​n-​cheese x2. It took 48 minutes for our food to be ready and it had nothing to do with a larger order before us.
The sauce had zero flavor and what was on the pork was minimal.
Top Rung apologized multiple times. They should never be put in the position to apologize for another companies poor service.
It was tasteless and over priced. Never again!
I believe South Bay BBQ should address the poor service and timeliness of it. It is BBQ, but in a food truck, you need to be provide quick service and the food must taste great.

Very laid back and easy going vibe here. The staff working are very friendly and nice. I had the brisket sandwich with Mac n cheese .so good ! All around great experience

Disappointed in the lunch I had today. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich but skipped the bun and had cornbread on the side. The pork was soggy with little smoke flavor and sauce already applied. The texture of the meat made me think it came right out of a crock pot or steam table. They say on their menu that meats are smoked for 22 hours but I just didn’t taste it.
I could taste the jalapeño in the mac and cheese which was pretty good but other than that the side was bland. The cornbread was «rustic» and drier than I’m use to.
Service was quick once our order was taken and the waitress corrected my check when I pointed out I was charged for a fountain drink instead of a canned pop.

Great food and fast service, BBQ done right in Olympia. Been helping us with our Green Beret Foundation BBQ Event for the last 2 year. Looks forward to 2016 and another successful event with Southbay!

Probably the 4^th time I’ve eaten here. Was coming basically to hear a band in the bar. Ordered the beef brisket sandwich with 2 sides for $ 16. My opinion… go to Dickies, pay half and enjoy decent brisket. I’ve only smoked 3 briskets in my life and all we’re better than the Dickerson offering. It tasted like smoke flavored pot roast. Sliced brisket? No way, pulled pot roast, more like it. The potato salad as tasteless and the Mac no cheese was uninspiring. Go back to BBQ school Dickersons.

Really good grub. Come with a big appetite. The array of decadent meats like pulled pork, tender beef and juicy chicken. And the sides we just as good! Highly recommend and will come back for more.

This place is my comfort food! Hard days will find me here because my mother’s own kitchen in 3,000 miles away.

Huge shout out to Eric for donating a whole slew of the best BBQ dinner we could’ve asked for. My best friend passed away several weeks ago unexpectedly at a very young age of only 46. Due to circumstances the services for her family were held just this last weekend in Shelton Washington. DJ ask Eric about donating food for 75 people. Without hesitation Eric get it and we were all able to gather around a great meal and talk about it the loved one we had lost. The meat was perfect, the beans were fabulous and with all the other potluck food we had it turned out to be a wonderful meal. I can’t say thank you enough you made a day to say goodbye to my best friend very nice. Thank you

I had the ½ rack of ribs, it came with cornbread and I ordered the peach cobbler and baked beans as sides. The meat on the ribs were so tender it came off the bone very easy. They were one of the best ribs I’ve had in a long time. Almost reminded me of when I had ribs in Texas. I would come back in a heart beat. Oh and the sides, I loved the peach cobbler and the beans were amazing. Can’t wait to go back hopefully soon.

This place is amazing. Out 2^nd time and still amazed by how fast the food is ready. Good is tasty and fresh. Service is great too!

Food is meh. But whiskey selection and beer selection is teats. And the wait staff is amazing. Totally good atmosphere. Comfortable. Outside seating works, regardless of the weather.

Awesome Bbq !!! Had the two meat combo with brisket and sausage delicious!!! The Mac and cheese and the corn bread are the bomb!!! Not only do they have a great selection of craft beers but they have over 30 whiskey’s. Get the dark spicy bbq sauce spicy with a hint of sweet !!! The waitress was super nice and extremely helpful. If you like whiskey, beer and great bbq swing on by you won’t be disappointed!!!

My husband and I got married yesterday, and it was the most perfect day ever. This day was made even more perfect by the Dickersons and their whole hog bbq. So moist, so flavorful, so delicious. Suvantha and her husband were very gracious and attentive caterers. The chicken was also quite tasty, the salad was very fresh, the beans so yummy, and the corn bread to die for.
Thank you so much for making our day the best it could have been.

If your looking for good barbecue and great service this is the place to go too. The beer selection has a good variety and they also have the hard stuff if you desire. Another plus is that they are family friendly.

I had high hopes after reading other reviews and thought that the prices were reasonable when viewing the menu online. The atmosphere was good and the staff was friendly enough. Our food arrived fast as well. Unfortunately there is nothing good to be said about the food. My Tri tip sandwich had about as much flavor as water. The BBQ sauces were not good and did not help at all. The beans were by far the worst beans I’ve ever had. My wife and kids had pulled pork sandwiches. Same story, no flavor and very watery. The buns were super soggy and gross. Last but not least, the mac and cheese side was awful. It was greasy and tasted like old jalapeños mixed with left over smoker grease. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We had dropped off from coming here as the service and quality had fallen a little.
Today we had one of the best meals and service you can get in Olympia. We had chicken, pulled pork, and ribs. We finished it all.
The service was also great. They were very attentive to our kids.

The place was empty… But the food was outstanding. Pulled pork with cornbread. BBQ sauces that seemed to be made from the nectar of some bluesy angel… and the beans. Wow. The BBQ beans had huge chunks of bacon I. Them that was delicious. Service was great and the price was fair. They also have an amazing offering of whisky and beer.

we went back and I am glad we did because we have gone back twice since our first .not so great review .the food was really good! Everything was well prepared, tasted fresh and flavorful .not a huge fan of the cornbread but I have found that folks love love love the cornbread I do not care for and no one leave even a crumb of theirs and my husband ate my piece with out a problem so I think it is «me» on the cornbread and I am just not a fan of the stuff… all through the south and southwest whenever folks told me «that cornbread was fantastic» I couldn’t get it down .
really good beans wow I could have eaten two bowls but the serving sizes were perfect I WILL go back and just wish they were open Sundays my kids only get to Oly then

The «Pig Bar» inside the restaurant is awesome on Taco Tuesday’s! Get your $ 1.50 BBQ chicken or pork tacos. Watch for live music in the bar and you got a scene!

I had the Pulled pork sandwich, mac-​n-​cheese with jalapeño’s and peach cobbler. The cobbler had lots of breading, even for a cobbler, but was good otherwise. I liked the extra kick the jalapenos provided in the mac-​n-​cheese.
My husband had the Tri-​tip with potato salad and baked beans. I kept stealing bites of his potato salad.
They had beer and a good selection of different soda flavors in bottles. They were fast and good!
