Great food. Got the pork belly tostadas for an appetizer. Bison meatloaf was amazing and so was the flat iron steak. Portions are kinda small for price, but I was just happy the food was actually good. We will for sure be back. Our waiter Heather was awesome too, ask for her.

We stopped at Railcar this weekend before dropping friends off at the airport. I tried the Dutch baby and my husband had the eggs benedict. Both were fantastic — fresh and homemade without being too homey. The dining room is comfy and visually appealing and the service was friendly. The best part though was the menu — tons of really tasty-looking options. We’ll definitely make the drive back in from Lincoln for dinner. I also want to take the kids — many friendly options.

Wouldn’t order again. I ordered this tonight for delivery and they forgot my sweet potato tots and the veggie burger wasn’t very good. However, my bf liked his Kobe burger. His fries were very soggy though. Perhaps it would be better to eat at the restaurant.

Really great food. My only complaint is soup and salad ISN’T included. So when they ask if you want soup or salad, just be advised that it’s not included so your not surprised when the bill comes. Overall really happy though, great menu!

Cute, cute place! We went for lunch and loved it! The food was delicious! Some of it, I had never seen before! We checked in with Unilocal and got a free appetizer. We decided on the cheese and charcuterie tray — holy smokes. Words can’t describe: just try it, you won’t regret it! I would give it 5 stars but the service was a little slow and I didn’t enjoy my Moscow Mule. Maybe because it was the middle of the day and the bartender wasn’t used to making them. It was a little expensive as well, but great place for a special occasion.

Great staff great management and phenomenal clientele. Like nothing else in west Omaha. $ 14 bottomless brunch drinks starting at 930 Saturday and Sunday’s? What more could you ask for! Bloody Mary’s with homemade mixes infused with beers and bacon and mimosas for days! Great dinner specials and craft cocktails as well. A restaurant well worth adding to your rotation.

Look what a gem, top 3 on ‘s «Diners Delight Card» for sure. Happy hour prices were pretty good. Santa Fe Mule, a Moscow mule with a kick was great, a little sweet even. Didn’t know what to expect with pork belly tostadas, they were little almost bite size tostadas with a great sauce and I think rice but tasted like a coleslaw, I could’ve eaten two more plates as an entrée. Short rib stroganoff was great, very flavorful. The pasta with shrimp, prosciutto, asparagus, artichoke, and capers was so good. Sounds like a hodgepodge, but I had boyfriend pick dishes and this one was actually really good with all the unique ingredients. The artichoke was almost crisp, very fresh and enjoyable. Xander the bartender was very chill and helpful, all the employees were. He told us about the weekend brunch and bottomless mimosas! So many places in Omaha have bottomless Bloody Marys(which Railcar also offers) but haven’t found a mimosa spot, very happy about this Even if not for bottomless mimosas, all the way out here on 144th, we’ll be back for sure!

I’ve only ever been to Railcar for brunch, but I was very impressed. I’ve gone about five times now.(Chicken and waffles for the win!) They also offer unlimited mimosas and bloody marys for $ 14, and you can mix and match a number of drink combinations. I’ve also tried their lemon ricotta pancakes, which are a bit too sweet as a main dish, but are awesome if you get one on the side to split with your companions. The dutch baby pancakes are a savory and delicious option, the breakfast sandwich is simple but good, and the croquet madame is an indulgent take. I also like the nutella french toast, but only if I’m in the mood for dessert for breakfast. Overall, traditional options and fresh new ideas for brunch are both available here, and all are done extremely well.

This is a common spot for me to have one meal at while I’m in Omaha for work. It is a great restaurant that is about 2 miles from the office. Everything is fresh and tastes great. There are too many items which I enjoyed(although I should have wrote a review closer to when I ate them) that it is hard to list. Just give it a go, you’ll enjoy it

I’m so upset that I have to give this place a bad review; it used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. They had(maybe still have?) a mean coffee ribeye and pork shank. We always had great service when we visited, and were friendly with some of the waitstaff, all of whom seemed to be on top of things. Flash-forward to tonight, which was truly one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had in months, if not years. We were seated not in the main dining room, but in the auxiliary dining space next to the bar. Our server was the bartender, and when none of our party ordered drink other than tea or water, we ensured ourselves terrible service from then on. After ordering, our appetizers(pork belly tostadas, an old favorite which wasn’t as good this time but still tasty, and sweet potato tots, which didn’t hold together and were basically fried mashed sweet potato balls) didn’t arrive for about half an hour, during which our glasses sat empty for a while as well. After that wait time we expected our food to come out soon, but no such relief was in sight. I had to ask another server after another half hour where my salad was(Railcar’s caesar is quite good and always has been). I’m all for a well-paced meal, but this was just negligence. As soon as I got my(much belated) salad the food came. So much for pacing. I was looking forward to my wagyu and lobster fra diavlo and it did not live up to my expectations. The sauce was spicy and pungent enough to cover up most of the tastes, including the lobster. The beef was also slightly gelatinous, and not in a good way. One of the other diners remarked that it could have been made with chuck roast, canned crab and shrimp and nobody would have known the difference. One of our party ordered the scallops — usually a very strong choice. In the past, if you ordered scallops at Railcar you would get these giant diver scallops, perfectly cooked and in perfect proportion to the accoutrements. Not so this time: the scallops were smaller than the Brussel sprouts they were served with, and overcooked to boot. It was a dish which would be barely passable at Red Lobster. Our server(i.e. the bartender) never checked on us, and we were only able to voice our displeasure at the very end of our meal. Overall, it took us over an hour and a half to get through our meal(almost all of which was waiting), and when the food did arrive it was severely disappointing. I’m sure we’ll give this place another chance at some point, but after tonight, consider me pessimistic.

Ate here last week for a friend’s birthday and I kinda fell in love with it. Would probably do a 5-star(and may amend it after future visits), but while the mac n’ cheese was probably one of the most amazing I’ve ever had, the corn bread and apple pie were more in the 4-star range. Still good. But just good. Back to the mac n’ cheese. It was amazing. Perfect comfort food and I could spend all winter in cozy sweaters and big furry boots in this place eating just that. Even better if I could be seated by a fireplace. Hearty and creamy with a perfect bread-crumb topping — and get this — SQUASH. Unexpected but sooo delicious. So yea, I’ll be back, I’ll try more things, and hopefully this’ll turn into a 5-star review, because this place is good. (Also, the waiter was great — didn’t catch his name, but good guy, nice and relaxed and super helpful — 5 stars for him for sure).

Really good service on the bar side of the restaurant during my lunch visit. They promote their Cuban sandwich heavily, so I had one. It was rich and awesome in flavor balance, which is the hard part about a Cubano. Their version had thicker portions of pickle, pork, and ham than usual. They use enough mustard and a thicker bread(ciabatta) for balance. The only thing I missed was not having the exterior of the bread toasted. That sandwich was no joke!

I will never not give this restaurant less than 4 stars because it won us over a long time ago… However, based on tonight alone I would’ve only given it two stars. If you go for Omaha Restaurant Week DONOT order the steak!!! Granted it’s a sirloin, it was on the menu as «Waygu beef» which the definition is «the meat from Waygu cattle known for its quality and demands a high price.,» so regardless if it was a sirloin it should’ve been an amazing cut but it was absolutely awful! We could barely cut it with a steak knife and it was very gristley and inedible. We both ordered medium but moms was almost all brown and mine was so bloody my plate was bloody. Our waiter was, as usual, AWESOME !!! The service here is the best around! He tried to tell us the things to order on the restaurant week menu were either the Osso Bucco or the lamb ribs but we weren’t adventurous enough and we regretted it so, please, take our word for it if not your servers… Get anything but the steak!!! Our appetizer was our favorite part! Definitely check out the lobster hush puppies and the charred carrots !! Tons of lobster in the hush puppies and the charred carrots were unique and delicious! Our Key lime pie was also a huge piece and very delicious! While our server steered us another direction, we’ve had so much amazing food here we didn’t think it was possible to go wrong but this steak shouldn’t even be an offering. It doesn’t represent them well at all!!!

Cherry ribs are still top notch! The lobster hush puppies are OK, I thought they would be better. I tried the chicken and goat sandwich which was pretty good. For dessert my friend had a pecan-raspberry-something and another cookie, seriously it had like 7 names in the title. It was good but very very sweet. Décor is still really nice and the staff is super nice. Railcar continues to rank high in my list!

I ended up going to Railcar twice in the same week. The first time a friend and I met for lunch and this was a good ½ way spot that I’d been meaning to try. I liked it so much I brought the family back a few days later. For lunch I had the twofer special with the short rib flatbread and corn chowder. The flatbread was the winner here, the chowder was okay but could have used a hit more spice. Great deal under $ 10 for lunch. My friend had the steak salad which was huge and delicious. When I went back for supper my family had the vegetarian burger(one of two vegetarian main dishes), the london broil, the prime rib, and the cherry ribs(clearly only one of us is a vegetarian!) Plus the lobster hush puppies and carrot tops for apps. The only vegetarian appetizer is hummus but the waitress suggested the carrot tops and they hold the lardon. Leaving out what is essentially fancy bacon seems likes a food crime, but we gave it a try. This is not an app I would have tried without the waitress suggestion and the vegetarian along but am so glad we did — these were delicious! Unique spice and cooked perfectly tender. Will be having them again. The lobster hush puppies were solid, not too heavy and good flavor. And it is served with a side of guacamole which those at the table that like guac raved about(I tend to skip food that is green and mushy — yuck.) The vegetarian burger was great. A different take on this, not just the standard black bean burger but a mix of garbanzo beans, mushroom, onions, etc. that they make in house. So often the veggie option seems to be an afterthought but here it was clear it had the same eye to quality and flavor as the rest of the menu. My foodie/picky eater/vegetarian daughter really liked it. All of the meat options were wonderful. The only thing wrong with the London broil is that my husband liked it so much that he ate it all before I could steal a bite. It was perfectly cooked medium rare. My son’s cherry ribs had a nice crunch on the outside and the cherry adds a nice flavor. My prime rib was delicious. I personally didn’t like the presentation of the meat on top of the mashed potatoes, but I don’t like it when my au jus gets all over the rest of my meal. That said, the mashed potatoes were good with the skins included. We also tried the sangria and punch mixed drinks — both were winners. And the pretzel bread! Next time we are looking forward to trying the cronut sundae, because we will definitely be back!

We were looking for a place to meet our daughter in west Omaha & found the Railcar on the Passport Dining Directory & on Unilocal… Reviews looked good & we were NOT disappointed. Showed up without reservations at 1PM on a Sunday for their brunch. Menus was limited but adequate & most items ran $ 10-$ 12. My daughter had an open-faced flatbread sandwich that came served on a bread-board … Looked great. My wife had a club sandwich on wholewheat bread with a fruit cup. Fruit was fresh strawberries &1⁄3 of a medium apple in chunks. I had an egg dish they adjusted for my dietary needs without a hitch. Great service, fast & excellent food! Total was $ 50 with a $ 10 tip &3-coffees($ 2.60@) We will be back! We will be back!

We tried Railcar for the first time tonight, mainly because we had a free appetizer coupon on Unilocal. The restaurant is located in a strip mall — a bit unassuming from the outside. We almost left and I’m glad we didn’t. We walked in and were immediately faced with a sign: right for the bar or left to the hostess. The delicious smells wafting through the air made that an easy choice. The hostess that greeted us was pleasant and seemed genuinely happy we were there. A nice change of pace from some of the other places we’ve been to recently. It was a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was maybe 30% full. We were greeted by our waitress immediately and she too was smiling and pleasant. She explained the wine menu, July special menu and the regular menu. A little to many menus… but whatever. I was to hungry to care much. Water was brought out, we ordered our wine and appetizer while we looked over the menu. With our free appetizer coupon, we chose the CASTIRONSHRIMPAUGRATIN for $ 11. This came out as a dip/bruschetta topping — piping hot and with four crusty, buttered slices of bread. The au gratin is made with white wine, roasted garlic, red pepper and asiago cheese, topped with corn kernels. It was quite tasty and every bit was scooped up. Next the waitress brought out the bread — not a usual loaf either. A hot pretzel loaf with butter. A wonderful change up to the normal bread and butter. That went down quickly while we sipped on some wine and waited for our meals. We were next served our starters: a gluten free mixed green salad with garlic vinaigrette for me and the jalapeño corn chowder for my friend. The salad was delicious and the dressing wasn’t as garlicky as I had worried about. There was a little to much dressing overall and next time I would order it on the side. More corn as a topping on the salad as well. The jalapeño corn chowder was sweet and good but with very little bite. The waitress explained they remove the seeds to take out most of the heat. I would like to have the flavor with a bit more of the jalapeño heat — a nice chowder overall but we wouldn’t have ordered it if we knew it wasn’t going to be spicy. Next came the entrees. I ordered from the July specials menu and had the London Broil steak($ 25). It came as ordered(medium rare) with a large portion of buttery smashed potatoes. They forgot the grilled asparagus but quickly caught their mistake before I even noticed. The flavor of the steak was wonderful. The sauce was tasty but there was to much of it. I would have liked about a quarter of it so it didn’t drown out the flavor of the steak. Overall a great dish that I would order again with small modifications. I was to full to finish and about half came home with me. My friend ordered from the regular menu: the GRILLEDVERLASSOSALMON(Gluten free). The salmon was moist and flavorful and the pinot noir vinaigrette was a nice fruity compliment to the salmon. It came with tender grilled asparagus for $ 21. We were to full to try dessert but I’m not sure they have it. I didn’t see it on the menu and the waitress didn’t offer. Overall we had a wonderful dinning experience and I would recommend giving this place a try. Especially with the free appetizer coupon :)

My husband and I went here for dinner on a Friday night and were very impressed! This was one of the best dining experiences we have had in Omaha in a long time. The restaurant is set in a strip mall and the outside is completely deceiving of the dining experience that awaits you. The service at this place is impeccable. We were greeted by the hostess immediately upon entering and she quickly found our reservation and passed us off to an extremely polite young gentlemen who guided us to our table, presented us with menus, and told us our server would be with us shortly. Within a minute our waitress greeted us, explained the menu(including their extensive specials), and left to grab us waters. Our waitress was awesome! She was so friendly and informative the entire time. To start off, I ordered the Honey Crisp Apple Sangria(unoaked chardonnay, local honey, peach liqueur, white brandy, orange, lemon, lime, cinnamon and ginger) and my husband ordered the cider beer. He just got a pint, but they do offer growlers which is 2 ½ beers(a very cool option!). The sangria was awesome and I want to try to replicate this recipe at home! Our waitress said they soak the chardonnay in fruit overnight every night. For an appetizer we ordered the Sweet Potato Tots and I ordered a cup of the Jalapeño Corn Chowder. The Sweet Potato Tots weren’t really«tots,» but they were awesome! They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and had an awesome flavor. They were served in a small cup on a platter that was drizzled with aioli sauce for dipping. The Jalapeño Corn Chowder was also delicious! It wasn’t too hot, but had a nice low heat and was super cheesy. For my entrée I went with the B&O Maryland Crab Cakes(real lump crab, blue crab, fresh corn, red pepper, scallion, fresh lemon, stone ground mustard aioli, and grilled asparagus) and my husband ordered the Filet Mignon with a side of the corn on the cob. The Crab Cakes were served with the asparagus spears on top. They had huge chunks of crab and the perfect amount of the other ingredients to create an awesome flavor. The mustard aioli added an awesome flavor without overpowering the flavor of the crab cakes. My husband loved his filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked. It is served with bone marrow, which we tried and decided it wasn’t our«thing.» Our waitress explained the concept of how it adds a buttery charred flavor that many people enjoy. The corn on the cob was incredible! In addition to the standard butter and spices, it was also coated in ground parsley, which added the most amazing flavor to it. Everything we had here, from the drinks to the sides, was delicious. Price-wise, this place is on the higher side for Omaha(entrees are $ 20 — $ 45), but for two alcoholic drinks, an appetizer, two entrees, a cup of soup, and a side, our bill came to around $ 85, which is extremely reasonable considering we loved everything we had here. This place is awesome and I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Ohhhhhh, I could really, really like Railcar. Although located in a random strip mall just south of Blondo on 144th, you step inside and feel like you’re NOT in said strip mall(especially with the evening mood lightening that kicked in around 5 p.m. or so). Sunday afternoon meetup with friends who were in town for the holidays. ½ price wine Sundays… HH menu at the bar… could a girl and her friends get any luckier?! Three-plus hours spent in a cozy little nook in the bar area consuming two bottles of wine, the short rib flat bread($ 6HH), charcuterie plate($ 6HH) and order of fries($ 6 not HH). The flat bread was the clear winner of the evening(who doesn’t love short rib on anything??). The onion jam and housemade pickles on the charcuterie tray were also clear winners. While the meat and cheese selection was quite nice, I’m not a cracker fan(unless it’s crushed up in my chili) so did wish for a bit of bread to go with that jam. And fries… well, obvi a perfect pairing with a bottle of Malbec! Service was good, albeit a bit slow because the bartender tended the bar and the area tables. Prices were good, but a given since it was happy hour. Going back with another group of friends this weekend to give non-HH menu items a try to get a better sense of the culinary possibilities. Stay tuned…
