I once wrote an essay in college about my love of thrifting. In said essay I noted this particular St. Vincent Depaul store in Benson as my favorite of them all. Here I am 10 years later and I still tend to agree with my younger self. Now this store is small in square footage, but they sure pack a ton of inventory here. Half the store is clothes, kitchen, misc. nicknacks and the other half is furniture, toys, more misc. nicknacks. That said, this isn’t the type of place to check out every week. I’ve rotated it into my «stop by every once in a while on a weekday afternoon» category. The best part? The prices. St. Vincent Depaul keeps things cheap — I’ve noticed this at their location near 20th and Leavenworth as well. And cheapness is the best part of thrifting. Well that and actually finding cool stuff that you can use. So I’ve found a ton clothes here over the years, including a Neman Marcus cashmere sweater in perfect condition, some super sweet vintage Wrangler jeans and many, many T-shirts and button-ups. On top of that, the occasional Zappa record, a $ 1 French Press coffee maker and a $ 12BRANDNEW turntable(that I passed on because I didn’t need it) and this place still manages to cling to the top of my list of favorite stores after a decade of thrifting in Omaha. I like how sometimes the items at any particular thrift store can open a little spout of rumination. Like all these items are kind of mirrors into the near past of the surrounding neighborhoods, as each store seems to take on the feel of the people nearby who donate to it. I find that’s really alluring, hovering among little pieces of people’s past lives. Ah well, I digress.

Clean & well-organized. Don’t let the location cause you to pass it up. Great prices! Quality of clothes is good-not vintage, just solid brands in good shape, and mostly current/recent styles. Staff very friendly and cheerful.

This thrift store is amazing! It always has a wide variety of items and it’s usually in some sort of order. If you are looking for used furniture, this place is usually a good spot to hit up. I’ve found many items that the owner(usually) gives me a better price if I ask her how much she wants for it. They do accept cards. Close at 5PM M-F.
