Today 31OCT15, Chef Lee had a Crawfish Boil with the traditional whole lb of Crawfish, Sausage, potato and corn. I forgot how much I missed my tenure in Louisiana and its seasonings. My lips were sparkling with the traditional spices and smells! I saw on their Facebook page that they were making this offering today, so I moved everything on my calendar to make sure I could show up before it was gone. Unfortunately, it took a while before my Crawfish skills returned. Chef Lee needs to do this Boil more often so I can keep up my Continuing Ed credits for these my skills.

Great little food truck that normally parks a few blocks from my job in the Canfield Plaza parking lot on West Center. Everything I’ve gotten from here has been delicious. Nice and crispy catfish with a great remoulade sauce, spicy etoufee and fluffy beignets. My favorite has to be the etoufee fries. Similar to poutine this dish has just the right level of spice and the fries don’t get soggy! The sausage and crawfish pieces are delicious as well. As someone who grew up eating creole and cajun food I’m happy to see a food truck getting the flavors and dishes right here in the Midwest.

A truly religious experience. My first time there today and I had the surf and turf over grits. Surf and Turf was crawfish, sausage, onions and peppers in a sauce. One of the finest meals I have had in a long time. Don’t let the fact that it is a food truck deter you. It was fantastic and the people who ran the truck were beyond friendly and appreciative. I can’t wait to stop again next time I am in Omaha.

Catfish… oh how I love it. Peaches and Cream bread pudding… food coma. Cajun Parmesan fries… all day. Plus, it helps that they post their daily menu and location on their Facebook page. They are super friendly and food really doesn’t take that long. I want to try the Boudin Balls. I missed last week because we were preparing for Fantasy Football Draft :)

Great food truck to stop at and get a quick bite to eat. Ordered the Shrimp Po’ Boy and have no regrets! Also got the Cajun Parmesan fries but it just wasn’t to my preference. I’m more of a shoestring, crispy type of fry guy. The staff was very friendly and made you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time. Will definitely be stopping by there again the next time I’m in town. Thank you!

The catfish was fantastic! Breaded with cornmeal and drizzled with remoulade sauce. Delish. The fries were great too. However the Gumbo, was w complete disappointment. It was mostly water, and the rice was sooo dry. The shrimp was way over cooked and it just was not tasty. Plus it cost like $ 8. Ripoff. I’ll definitely be back for the fish though. And they start selling crawfish soon! Stay tuned! I’ll post about how that is.

Ordered the catfish basket. It was delivered to my car piping hot and everything was super crispy. The catfish had kind of a tough texture, though, and was extremely fishy. The fries were so salty that I couldn’t even eat half of them. I will likely try again one more time and request less seasoning salt, or maybe try another menu item like the étouffée. Friendly staff, food was made fresh when I ordered it.

Plus: Great catfish fried in cornmeal, with remoulade sauce drizzled on top –nice touch. Fries were seasoned with Creole/Cajun seasoning. Both the catfish and fries were freshly made and served piping hot. Minus: Fries were way too salty for my liking. The seasoning minus the salt would have been on target. We ordered the who dat drink, but what we received tasted exactly like Hawaiian punch; a bit of a disappointment. Be advised, it can turn into an adventure trying to locate the truck, as their location is not stagnant. It may sound a little strange, but I kind of like the idea of searching the city in attempt to discover their different spot. To me, flexibility is part of the food truck charm.

I’m very picky with southern food. This place did not disappoint with their fried catfish. Battered in cornmeal which is the way I love it. Seasoned well. A tad bit more salty than I like but I dont put salt on anything. so any amount of salt stands out to me… so this may be my own issue. Fries were really good… cajun. They have a drink called the«Who dat»… it was tasty… and only $ 1. They should offer a larger drink for $ 1.50. Nice folks working here. I’ll try some other stuff soon. My second visit, I ordered the who dat punch and they gave me Hawaiian punch. I was kinda sad a out that mishap.

My husband and I had been looking for cajun cooking, since we moved from New Orleans. No place was worth the time or money. As we were driving down Center St, I saw a black and gold fleur dis lis. That was it we had to stop. And boy was I glad we did. Not only did we find authentic cajun food, but made a wonderful friend. He gets to know his customers by name, and you get that southern hospitality y’all hear about. The food is home made and fabulous. They have all the staples of cajun dishes. And a few creations Chef made himself. They do catering. Check em out.

I bounced back and forth between 2 and 3 stars here because it really was pretty good. Anne and I both had the Shrimp Po Boy and I really like the flavor of the remoulade, it had a bit of a kick that really turned an otherwise mediocre sandwich into something pretty darn tasty. The only other Shrimp Po Boy I’ve had locally is at Shuck’s on Pacific. The Shuck’s Po Boy was served on a tasty roll with lots of shrimp and a balanced presentation between shrimp, remoulade and condiments. The Po Boy here looked like it was served on a Hot Dog bun!!! Seriously??? A Hot Dog Bun??? Major fail but I have to hope they were just out of their normal rolls. 4 good sized shrimp evenly spaced on TOP of the condiments were properly cooked but for 7.50 I felt just a tad cheated. 3 stars may be a little generous but I’m planning on giving them another chance to earn the third. I had hoped for more here.

How did I not know about this for over a year?! I used to live in Baton Rouge, and fell in love with all things Cajun. Crawfish boils are especially important to me, and I can never get enough(see previous unfortunate review of Jazz). Thankfully, this piece of heaven on wheels cooks up a boil every other Saturday(found this out on their Facebook page!). It’s a good and true boil with all the little red crawdads, corn, potatoes, and even some andouille sausage(not everyone puts sausage in their boils). I wish it were a real party where you order by the pound — or better yet claim a spot at a long table with a cold beer, and a squeezy bottle of butter to share, and dive in! The shrimp po-boy was everything I wanted it to be, the who-dat punch was tasty, and my boyfriend gave up after a few crawfish cause his lips were on fire(that means they were seasoned perfectly). I was there later in the day, so they had been sitting around for a while, but it was still the slice of Cajun deliciousness I trekked out there for. I’ll be back, and I’m excited about it. Thanks Chef Lee!
