Dietz & Wall Wines

We have lived in France and my husband is French. So while not world experts in wine by any stretch, I think we still know a bit. This is a great little shop. The ambience and décor is exactly what you expect when you enter a proper high quality wine shop. They have a wide and great selection of different wines from around the world. But each wine is chosen specifically and the owners have tried them all, and hand chosen what they have. You can have a chat with them about what you are looking for, or what you will be cooking, and they can offer some nice suggestions for pairing or trying something new. The shop is run by a local couple that lives a few blocks away. They are very friendly, and not at all wine snobs. As a new community member ourselves in Oneonta we feel it is important to support a local family rather than get a bottle of terrible wine that tastes like gasoline from a discount liquor store. This is your community wine store. The kind of place we prefer to visit.

Excellent selection of wines from small producers. Beautiful space and the wines are displayed nicely. I love the idea that there is always an open bottle or two for tasting. Beth – the owner– is very accommodating and a pleasure to visit with. The store has only been open several weeks and it’s off to a great start. I’ll be back.
