Shrimp Shack Seafood Kitchen

Expensive and not enough food. My husband and I order the same thing except mine was fried and his was broiled he only got 4 shrimp and small piece of fish I got 8 shrimp and two pieces of fish they where out of baked potato and we did not get any hush puppies. The food was delicious

I went here wanting to try something other than my normal Captain D’s. The lobby was clean when entering. The cashier greeted me with a smile, and was very helpful in assisting me with ordering since it was my first visit.
The food portion I received was more than enough, fresh, and tasteful.
My negative reviews are for the bathroom, and «friends» hanging around. The ladies restroom was not clean. There was a young girl just hanging out up at the register chatting it up with some of the employees. This wasn’t a good look at all. The manager on duty didn’t seem to mind either.
In checking my order before leaving I asked for more tauter sauce instead of cocktail sauce. The young girl (not the same one who took my order) threw the condiments to me as if she had a problem with putting it in either my hand or my bag. I kindly thanked her for throwing it to me and left.
Overall, the food was good, however some minor improvements will make this a great seafood spot.

Best kept secret in Orange Park. Fast service seafood at reasonable prices. The Bam shrimp po’boy is awesome. You get a wide range of sides to choose from. We have never been disappointed.

Oh my gosh this was so good! We came based on an article we saw about the 50 places you need to eat at before you die. We were not disappointed. The Bam Bam shrimp was amazing and even the simple butterfly shrimp was cooked to perfection. The green beans were amazing with a bit of a kick to them. We will definitely be back!

Great hole-​in-​the-​wall sort of place for really good seafood on the Westside. Staff is always friendly and attentive, and food comes out fairly quickly.
My favorites are the fried basa ($ 8.99 with 2 sides) or the shrimp & grits (includes bacon) ($ 9.99, no sides) — portions are large enough to be good value for the price. My wife will occasionally order the broiled flounder, which is tasty, but sometimes a tad dryer –shrug–

The food was not bad, very clean restaurant. Took bad everything is fried. Staff were helpful.

Ate here the other night for the first time and will never return. Food was absolutely disgusting. Jacksonville is near the ocean… why fresh shrimp cannot be had and consumed, is beyond me.
Mushy shrimp and catfish… must have been frozen for far too long before being used…

Seriously… What’s the point of taking a call in order if the order is never ready when the customer is there to pick it up??? 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and even 45 minutes. I’ve achieved all of those time frames and my food is still not ready when I get there… I guess I will just order and wait when I get there from now on. My wife says I’m crazy for calling in advance every time I want Shrimp Shack and I’ve told her I’m going to prove her wrong… Thank you Shrimp Shack… For making sure the wife is right every time.
As for the food. I like it. The only thing on the menu I have tried though is the fried shrimp, cole slaw and green beans. I go there on either the 15^th or 30^th for their $ 10.99 30 pc shrimp, two hushpuppies, and two side special.
Parking is a pain in the ass and there’s very limited seating on most occasions although I usually get it to go anyways.

Sweet potatoes on the menu now! Yummy! Tried the Shrimp and Grits and I got my fill! Special 11.99 fried shrimp hush puppies and 1 side. I choice the sweet potato

I really enjoyed the Shrimp Shack. The restaurant is small but has enough tables. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. The lady who took our order was friendly and answered our questions very nicely. There were three of us in our party and between us we ordered shrimp, clamstrips, scallops, and fish. With sides of sweet potato, coleslaw, and fries. Everything tasted incredibly good. The food was hot and crisp. Nothing tasted re-​fried or felt like it had been sitting out. The tarter sauce was also good.
I would definitely come back and try other things.

One of the BEST restaurants for shrimp and seafood in NE FL! The place is clean and staff was super friendly! We will be back soon! Also prices are great! $ 11.99 for a large shrimp dinner with a drink. Don’t change a thing!

I love this place, its just expensive as hell, and that seems to be the biggest issue with the Shrimp Shack.
I’ve sampled most things on the menu, shrimp n’ grits and the shrimp tacos are my favorites. And the catfish is outstanding, get a large, trust me. Sadly, I am not a fan of the fried shrimp or the hush puppies, which most people rave about. But the shrimp is not seasoned, and the hush puppies… well thats what I get for being from Tennessee. I guess I’ll have to wait til I get home for a hush puppy fix.
The blackened Mahi is also very good, and I’ve never had an overcooked piece of fish and thats a good endorsement for this place. But $ 4.99 for a side of fried okra, are you kidding me? LOL Counter service only but everybody is very friendly and the service is prompt. If you’ve never been here, you need to check it out. You’ll also find coupons on their website.

Small but clean and bright with very friendly and polite employees. The fried shrimp were plentiful and excellent, very good hushpuppies, slaw and amazing seasoned green beans. Be sure to get a side of their Bam! sauce. Everyone eating there was smiling.

Was looking for seafood, so I got on Unilocal and found the shrimp shack kitchen. The bam bam shrimp was AWESOME! My daughter had the kids chicken tender meal and she said the chicken tenders were REALLY good. The coleslaw was great… sweet but not too sweet. The hush puppies were really good too. Just like I like them. Whenever I’m visiting my niece. …I’ll be coming by here.

They have the best seafood in town the atmosphere is a little lacking but you can’t beat the outdoor seating and the dollar draft beer.

I usually see this place when I go to church and stopped in today. It was soooo good! I had the grilled shrimp and scallops, with cheese grits and green beans.
The only drawback is the drink selection (what can I say, freestyle has spoiled me!) I will definitely be back! Next time I will get a large combo.

Shrimp Shack Seafood Kitchen is delicious. I’ve been several times and I recommend the… fried shrimp! Hush puppies are excellent and the cole slaw might be the best in NE FL. Fries could be a bit crispier but just my opinion. They are fast but can get backed up on the 15^th & 30^th when they offer a great deal on … Shhhhhh hhhrimp. Friendly staff too!

This seafood house is located in Orange Park on busy Blanding Blvd.
We pulled in because their sign said, «Oysters are back!» and we didn’t want to drive all the way to Mayport for seafood.
Inside are:
5 large booths
2 small booths
2 two tops
1 round table
Every single table was occupied with people of all ages. Some seemed to know each other as they stopped to talk to others in the booths.
The restaurant was very busy.
We got our food: Piping hot and fried items were crispy and not wilted. Service with a smile.
We will return again since it’s close to where we live now.

I have been back to shrimp shack many times since my earlier review (which was, I believe my first review of the day!) and I’m totally addicted. While the fried shrimp was good, the bam bam shrimp is amazing. I actually like it much more than Bonefish’s bang bang shrimp. The breading is a little lighter than Bonefish’s, which I prefer.
My favorite sides are the fries (dunk ‘em in the bam bam shrimp sauce!) and the green beans. The staff is always friendly and if you pop in when it’s not too busy (on Saturday or Sunday, that means when they first open at 11am), the food is usually out pretty quickly. It would be nice if they utilized the drive thru on the building (though I understand why they haven’t).
Prices aren’t much higher than a decent fast meal (Panera or the like) and I find everything about a local place like Shrimp Shack much preferable to anything those chains have to offer.

Well, most of the stuff I said about these guys in my review below is still true, but ther’ve been a few changes as of late and not changes for the better. So… I’m having to reluctantly bump them down to just four-​and-​one-​half stars.
Those incredibly delicious oysters I raved about are no longer offered. You will not find oysters on the menu at all now. That is truly a shame because they did them up extraordinarily here. Also, say goodbye to their wonderful draught beer specials. Actually, say goodbye to draught beer here, period. You can now get bottled Anheuser-​Busch products here for $ 2-​a-​pop but it just ain’t the same. I’ll soon be removing my draught beer pix and oyster pix from this listing to reflect these sad changes.
The other seafood, especially the shrimp is still cooked to perfection though and the staff are all very pleasant and extremely nice. I’ll still be coming back here as I did this afternoon, albeit with lowered expectations due to the changes recently made.
