This place is ridiculously good! Always tastes fresh and very authentic. My go-to is the Chicken Supreme which is chicken topped with shrimp, cheese, sauce, and avocado served with a side of maduros(fried plantains), creamy spinach, and rice. Sooo extremely good. The service has always been on point and you get free bread and butter with your meals. The place itself is pretty tight, but there is plenty of seating outside. All in all I have loved my experiences thus far and have yet to be disappointed!

Lunch was Caribbean Delight & Crepes Del Mar. We were thinking of crepes like the«French», but of course this is a Cuban place, so it’s different. It was more like enchiladas served with Spanish rice & creamy spinach. The dish was tasty but not great. Caribbean Delight was basically seafood stew served with steam rice & fried plantain. It was yummylicious! This is a small place, it gets pretty cramp on weekends. If you like smoke & sunshine, they have outdoor tables with a nice view of the circle. We have been coming here for several years now and the food is consistently good, especially those rice dishes: arroz con pollo or marisco or black bean & rice… Good service, casual dining. Don’t expect anything fancy & enjoy the Cuban flare.

Felix Continental Café has been on my bookmark list since I moved here and I finally got to try it last week. I believe that with some tweaking to what I order, I could definitely be a fan. Here’s how: ***Ask for the black beans! I ordered off the side of the menu called Typical Cuisines from Cuba and Spain which comes with spanish rice, creamy spinach and maduros. The other side of the menu, called Traditional Cuisines from Cuba, come with your choice of black beans, or congri, rice and your choice of maduros, tostones or yuca. Next time I’ll make sure that I get the black beans because those were AWESOME! ***Eat a million Maduros: I was in love with my side of maduros. They were cooked perfectly and went well with everything. I ordered the Camerones Al Ajo which was shrimp in a white wine, lemon, butter sauce. They were tasty but I had to clean every shrimp and the broth was a little too rich for me. Next time I’m going with the paella or the fajitas. ***Enjoy the salad or soup: I love that they include soup or salad with your meal. I had a perfectly nice salad with this interesting vinaigrette. ***Save room for dessert: Your meal comes with dessert! I had the tres leches cake and it was delicious. I will definitely be back either to try dinner again with a bit of order-tweaking or perhaps to try breakfast(their menu looks awesome). Unilocal 100 challenge: 40⁄100

An exquisite taste of the Cuban arts! Delicious and satisfying from the first bite till the last. The location of this place will be on your right side if your coming from Anaheim taking chapman or your left if your coming from Santa Ana on glassell. Parking can be a little hard to find depending on the days you go. My first time here, came on a Wednesday with my cousin. The joint is not big but not small either, it wasn’t pack as we walk in. A lady greeted us and said sit anywhere we like. Right when we sat down a gentleman came by put down a basket of bread and hand us our menu, ask what we would like to drink. She said pepsi and I went with water. When he came back one minute later we was ready to order. She went with salad for starters, potato balls, croquette chicken for appetizers and pollo criollo. I went for the lentil soup and the bacon filet mignon with brandy sauce. It didn’t take long at all, everything taste amazing! After there was even dessert too, so fulfilling. I don’t understand all the complaints, 3 dishes for under $ 20 what could go wrong with that? Plus if you want more seasoning there are salt and pepper at the table. All in all thumps up all the way, definitely will not be my last!

I love their food and the customer service that’s why I keep going back and my husband: their chicken supreme was amazing their eggs benedict also really good — I’ve had it with lobster and without so highly recommend — but so far my favorite was the breakfast chicken and Crepes and the fruit fritter in love — they also give you free juice with meal :) hope this helps

Porto’s is my go-to for Cuban food, so I was happy to see other options nearby. The restaurant was not busy, so we were seated quickly and service was great. We got started with(too much) bread. It was nothing special. I wish that the bread was warm, but it came out cold. My friends and I ordered some dishes to share. We ordered the Caribbean Sailor and the Combination plate. This was plenty between three girls. The sailor dish was very tasty and flavorful. It was filled with lots of seafood, which was nice. We also got an empanada each, which tasted great! The entrees also come with a dessert. We tried the pineapple bread pudding and the tres leches. To be honest, I did not know which dish was which. The pineapple bread pudding did not taste like pineapple at all. The tres leches was maybe the cake with a more bready consistency? Either way, I wasn’t sure, and I wasn’t very impressed with their desserts.

I wis i lived in the OC, i would be at this restuarant everyday, not kidding. Everytime my family and i have the chance, we pay this place a visit. We always order Pollo Empanizado with tostones. Holy crap my mouth waters just at the thought of that plate. I appreciate the fact that the waiters know exactly what we order as soon as we sit down, don’t even need a menu! :P You can say we’ve been going there for years. One of my favorite restaurants hands down. Ps– As a coffee lover, i highly recommend trying Cuban coffee. Your taste buds will thank you. ;)

I am a fan! Keep in mind that before this, the closest to Cuban food I have tired is at Portos. With that being said, I really enjoyed this place. It’s located in the cute Square Plaza of Orange. Their chicken cordon blue was tasteful and juicy and their filet mignon was perfectly prepared. However, I really didn’t care for their potato balls. They were a little on the sour side. I’ll stick to Portos for that but everything else on my plate was delicious including their rice. Give this place a try and you might just run into me.

Over the years, Felix Continental Café has been my go to place for Cuban food in the OC. My monthly dinner group chose Felix and I am always happy to do a revisit. We were a large group of 12 and they were easily able to seat us outside with ease. To start we ordered a bunch of sangria, which tasted more like juice with some fruit. For my entrée, I ordered my favorite slow cooked oxtail with rice and black beans. The oxtail was as delicious as the first time I’ve had it. The rice was standard, but I love their black beans. They come also come with a side of maduros! Each meal had an included dessert, which I went for the tres leches topped with whipped cream. If you’re ever in the Orange Circle and want a nice sit down meal, put Felix at the top of your list.

Unilocal Challenge 2016. 85⁄116 Felix the café… the wonderful café You“all eat so much your tummy will ache Your heart will go yum yum So Felix not the Cat, but the Café, located in a corner section of the Orange Circle. Offering indoor and outdoor seating and a menu to please mostly anyone. The Beef and onion dish served with rice, black beans and bananas is really yummy. Its similar to a big hunk of carne asada. The chicken breast sister dish is equally tastey. Pair them with a couple Oc Empanadas and its a winner dinner. Wash it down with a iced cappachino and you are good to go. My parents who don’t Unilocal have been coming here for years whenever they visit the Orange Circle and have become real fans of the pork dishes. Been here a few times over the years. Service has usually been hit or miss. For some reason there are not a lot of servers so sometimes it takes a little longer. I am a fan! #886

Represent, represent, Cuba! Latin spiced, hefty portioned, perfectly priced… leave with a food coma. It’s hard not to overeat at Felix Continental; everything is so tasty! We ordered: Empanadas, Papas Rellenas, Oxtail Stew, Felix Combo… We ordered WAY too much food for two diners, but we left very content. Loosen them belts, Unilocalers — because this place is not diet friendly :) But you won’t regret this cheat meal.

I’ve been to Felix plenty of times, but… Only for breakfast. I really should stop by for dinner one of these days. I always get the same thing plantains omelette.(#19 on the menu) The potatoes have changed, they’ve become little diced things versus slices like they were before. I miss the slices. But the omelette never misses to satisfy, especially with some«Felix hot sauce» which gives it a nice spicy with the sweet. It happened to be the classic car show and the winds were ridiculous.

Bad food. I am sad to give this review because 15 years ago my friends took me here & it was delicious & I’ve always wanted to come back. I went back tonight & although the staff is very kind, the food was not good. I ordered the garlic chicken breast dish with black beans, rice & plantains. It was room temperature when it arrived to our table. The chicken was hammered into a flat patty that looked nothing like a chicken breast & was not moist or anything like what you picture when you order a chicken breast. It was thin & over-cooked. I didn’t taste the garlic. The pork dish we ordered was also dry & lukewarm. The meal came with soup or salad & your choice of dessert. The lentil soup was the only thing that was really good. My dessert was microwaved which made me wonder if my dinner had also been microwaved. The staff was friendly so we were really sad to dislike the food & couldn’t bring ourselves to complain or ask for a refund. We just agreed we would not go back here again; & we walk to the Circle for dinner often, so we could’ve been regulars. Sorry Felix.

My girlfriend and I were trying to plan brunch in the area but didn’t want to deal with crowds or a long wait. She had previously enjoyed brunch at Felix a few weeks ago and loved it so she suggested we try it again. I’m so glad we did. We grab seats on the«patio» outside, which is really just a group of table in the middle of the sidewalk and although the day was a bit overcast and chilly, the ample amount of heat lamps that had on kept us nice and toasty. We were immediately greeted and offered drinks. My girlfriend got the Sangria which was a very decent size and the rest of us got coffees. Our party of four had the following: California Omelet Palomilla Steak French Toast Combo Papa Rellena Emapanadita Criolla Portions here are very generous with the exception of the French Toast which was two slices, however it was for my 10 year old daughter, so zero complaints. I loved their friend Plantains and their Cuban rice and beans are flat out fantastic. I could have ate like 3 to 4 Papa Rellena’s but I did not care for the Empanadita Criolla as it was a little soggy. Overall, I have no food related complaints. Although the restaurant was extremely busy we received great service up until the time came to pay the check. After waiting several minutes, I had to send my daughter to hunt down our server and give her our credit card. No worries though, at that point I was too carb loaded to care. Three adults and a child ate and drank for $ 46.00, in Orange County… that is unheard of.

If you want a taste of authentic Cuban food, try Felix Continental. It will not disappoint. I had the Roasted Pork. Ok, I’m Mexican and we just call it carnitas. Wow. Very tender and tasty. The lunch plate comes with rice and beans. It also comes with 3 slices of maduros(bananas). Those were sweet but with combination with rice, amazing. I also ordered a Papa Rellena which has a meat filling, potato and egg with bread crumbs. Very nice! The Empanadita Criolla was also delicious. That is a seasoned ground beef stuffed Cuban style pie. Wait…there’s more! And for dessert: Flan. Ok. I could have passed on dessert because the portion provided in the Roasted Pork was sufficient. But it is what it is. The Flan was creamy and just plain delicioso(That’s Spanish for delicious)! Service The wait staff were good. A big deal with me, is if you see my drink is near empty or empty, please refill it. They did not skip a beat in refilling my drink before even asking for a refill. Parking can be a bit hard to find, especially during busy times but there are public parking spots available within 2 city blocks. No biggie. You probably will be glad to walk a little after your meal. Just saying. Good place to eat!

I think I could eat their creamed spinach every day! It’s like nothing I’ve had before, not sure what’s in it besides spinach but what ever diced veggies or whatever is in there it’s gooood! I’ve been here twice for dinner & have ordered the Felix Combination each time. It’s a great way to experience several things at once. It’s an easy place to stick to a low-carb diet but you can also go carb crazy with the delicious yellow rice or soft & chewy bread they bring to you right away. The menu is vast & it all looks so intriguing. Service is super friendly & efficient. There’s indoor & outdoor dining. Each time we came we were seated right away. Tables are close to each other inside because it’s not the largest restaurant but it creates a warm, casual vibe & you don’t feel cramped. Be prepared to take home what you can’t finish because portions are generous.

Went with the family on friday 2÷12÷16, and had great hopes for this place. Plates are big, but tasteless. My wife ordered the snaper fish plate, and taste lile nothing. I don’t remember the name of the plate I ordered, but it had shrimp, chicken, scallops, rice, fried bananas, etc, and I hated it. We also ordered an empanada, and 4 coconut shripms to start with, and couldn’t even eat them as they were way too sweet. For our kids we ordered the chicken fingers, and both of them didn’t like them either. So we wasted $ 72 dollars on food we didn’t eat. Service was great though. We definately won’t go bad.

Felix Continental Café offers an amazing breakfast, brunch and dinner. I’ve dined here twice for breakfast outdoors. The staff is very attentive. Last visit I had the salmon medallions, a piece of breakfast burrito and pancakes. Everything was delicious. Orange juice is fresh squeezed. Dogs ordered a side of ham and are welcome on the patio. I’ve also had dinner here with satisfying portions to go. Recommend dining here for any time of day. Great spot.

I was pretty excited to try out this place since there aren’t that many authentic Cuban places around. The place is right on the corner of the Orange circle, and its very quaint and cute. +/-Food: The food was okay. We ordered some empanadas and potato balls as appetizers, and shared the chicken plancha and garlic roasted chicken for entrees. Although the seasoning was good for the entrees(lots of flavor), the chicken was extremely dry. I was a little disappointed. The potato balls had a little too much potato and not enough meat inside, and the empanadas had a little too much flour for my taste. +Price: The prices are good. It wasn’t too expensive for the quality. I would give it another try, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

Love, love Felix’s for dinner during the spring/summer and to go during these cold/rainy days. We get dinner to go at least twice a month. For about $ 16 per person you get a very large entrée, soup or salad, bread and dessert. We ALWAYS have leftovers for lunch. Our faves are the Oxtail — über tender, rich gelatinous sauce(in a good way) and again a large serving. Second fave is the Chicken a la Orange. Comes with a yummy, creamy spinach side dish. Mom/pop feel with nice patio dining. Large menu makes it nice to find something for everyone.

This is one of my favorite restaurants ever! The neighborhood is very lovely and as busy as it gets, we always seem to find parking with little trouble. The restaurant is also always packed and busy, and yet we always are seated with very little wait. The inside dining is a little cramped but they fit a good amount of people in. And the place is a little worn but it adds to the homely authentic charm. Service is quite straight forward, as they quickly take your order, set you up with complimentary bread and butter, and start sending out your orders as soon as they are cooked. All business and no dilly dallying, perfect! I have been here multiple times and have tried multiple things and none have disappointed me. My personal favorite is the arroz con pollo, very flavorful and juicy, also great with the plantains. I have also tried the empanadas and filet mignon, both of which were excellent. If ordering dinner you also get soup and dessert with your dish, which is excellent considering prices are so cheap(10 – 15 $) and the amount of food you get is crazy(even at lunch!). My only regret every time I visit is that there is not one closer to my home, but I will always enjoy visiting when I am nearby!

Sometimes it is nice to revisit an old favorite and Felix is one of those place that I love coming back to. It has been a year or so since I’ve dine here and after tasting the food I remembered why it is one of my favorite cuban restaurant. Here is a little tip for those who don’t live around the area, this cozy little restaurant is located in the Orange Circle(a historical town) so parking can be a little more difficult to find during rush hours, which is mainly during the weekends. Also, if you can’t find any parking in the public parking areas whatever you do don’t park in the neighborhood because they will ticket you for not having a residential permit.(Take it from someone who went through it) Any who, here are some of the dishes that I’ve tried from here: — Empanadas:(10⁄10) I LAAAVE their empanadas! I believe it was about $ 1.25(?) per empanada. Portion and pricing is terrific! My best friend also agreed, the first time she tried it she finished it in a blink of an eye and this is coming from a really picky eater. — The roasted chicken cubano:(10⁄10) I usually don’t like ordering chicken but my god I’m glad I did because It was superb! The chicken were so tendered and perfectly seasoned, the sauce that were drizzled on top made the dish even more delicious! The rice that came along with this dish were also very good. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who asked. There was also a soup that came along but I did not had a chance to tried it because there were so much food on our table. — Paella:(10⁄10) After discovering ‘paella’ on the food network I was on a mission to find the BEST tasting paella in orange county and I must say of all the places I’ve tried, this place holds the top spot. I mean theres so many ways paella are made and with so many different ingredients, in my personal opinion, I believe Felix is the winner for the overall perfect tasting & ingredients. Their paella is perfect to share for three people, it has everything a traditional paella should have(meat, seafood, and veggies) and I find that what makes Felix’s paella distinctive from other restaurant is the fish in the paella. The fish that they put into the dish does not have that nasty fishy after taste that some other places have because they didn’t clean the fish well. Overall, all the ingredients blends really well together. *I really wanted to try the Tres Leches but I didn’t have the stomach for it, but I have heard really good things about it! Final verdict: I really enjoy eating here and bringing my friends and family to dine here. The staffs are very friends and attentive. Its a great place to go on a date. I would highly recommend this place if you are every in town and feel like trying out some delicious cuban food.

This place is a winner in my opinion. The interior isn’t fancy, but there’s a cool vibe about it. Service was great. Complimentary bread came out first with butter. The bread was on the dry side and would be perfect with an oil based dipping sauce. I ordered their Chicken Supreme which consisted of a chicken breast stuffed with 2 shrimp, smothered in Caribbean sauce, topped with cheese and avocado. It was super rich and creamy. Great texture. It also came with creamy spinach and maduros which was also very savory. The Spanish rice was a little bland but balanced the richness of the other ingredients. You also get the choice of soup and salad and dessert. I got the salad which was refreshing and their cake for dessert. This is my kind of comfort food, not everyday food or I would be obese in a month. It’s highly satisfying and prices are very reasonable.

Just had a terrific dinner here. I had the Christmas pork; huge chunks of tender tasty pork in a stew type sauce. It came with rice, black beans and delicious fried plantains. The dinner also came with a nice salad and Cuban bread. The price was about $ 15 bucks which is awesome for what you received; it’s worth way more. I was also able to be served in the cigar store next door… Which made it even more incredible. The service was fast, polite and accommodating. I finished off the night with a coffee(cortadito) and a dessert of tres leches. Perfect!!! I live in Ventura but will travel back to Orange for this place. Highest recommend.

I have it on the authority of Cuban friends that this place is the real deal. I had the El Criollito, 2 pork chops grilled Cuban style, and found them overcooked and dry for my taste. All the sides were very good. I also tried the Chocolate Malteado. It was very good and served ice cold, but very rich. It could have been a meal in itself. I was with a fairly large group at a busy time and we were really«shoehorned» into the place. I had to lean over toward the table and duck my head every time the wait staff passed by. In other words, it is small and busy. It is definitely a no frills place. The service is fast and furious with little time for niceties. Not rude but abrupt.

For our«F» Alphabet dinner we went to Felix Continental Café for some Cuban fare. We took a few months off from alphabet because of the summer but we’re back and ready to eat! My +1 and I arrived early so we went to Haven Gastropub for a beer before heading over to Felix’s for our 7 pm reservation. I was able to make a reservation for 12 people via the Unilocal Seat Me option which turned out great since Felix is pretty cozy inside and they sat us outside on a cool summer evening. In fact it was so cool, that I was getting goosebumps towards the end of our meal, but by then it was too late to ask them to turn on the heat lamps. My entire party arrived before we did but I was pleasantly surprised that they went ahead and ordered a pitcher of sangria to share. They don’t serve any alcohol other than sangria outside on the patio so it was a good thing we opted to go to Haven beforehand for other refreshment. The sangria tasted like fruit juice and didn’t seem to be too alcoholic. Upon perusing the menu, I opted for the braised oxtail since it’s a popular dish and I was curious to see how it tasted. My entrée came with the option of soup or salad, and a dessert at the end. I opted for the green salad with house parmesan dressing on the side. Thanks to all the photos on Unilocal,I know that they can drench a salad in dressing. My oxtail was tender and nicely braised. My meal also came out with maduros, rice and black beans. The beans are a little soupy and very flavorful. My friend requested a side of hot sauce and I dumped it on my plate for added spice which made it all the better. I thought it was well done. I also liked the sweet of the maduros to contrast with all the savory elements on my plate. My date had his salad with the red wine vinaigrette and he ordered the Habanera(sole stuffed with crab) which he was pretty happy with. I did get a bite of it and it was delicious. I also had a bite of the roasted pork too and that was done really well. For dessert, we had tres leches cake and pineapple bread pudding. I didn’t really care for the bread pudding but the tres leches is fabulous. We had a lovely dinner and it’s great to be able to catch up with friends you had not seen in a while.

If you don’t already know(as I was late to the game) Felix is a fantastic Cuban, Spanish and Caribbean restaurant right in the Orange Circle. Its been around for a very long time. The menu is separated by cuisine and EVERY meal is started with either soup or salad and finished with a dessert. Portion sizes are enough for 2 meals and even with all this, pretty much every dish is less than $ 15. Seating is inside or outside and every waiter and server was friendly and kind. The soup of the day was Split Pea, so I opted to go with the salad. It was heavy on the dressing and pretty much your basic salad. I think the soup would be a better option if you like what they’re serving that day. For my entrée I went with the Chicken Embajador. This was a large piece of boneless chicken topped with a few slices of avocado and smothered in provencal sauce and mozzarella cheese. It is served with Spanish rice, creamed spinach and maduros. This dish is way too good! The cheese brought everything together and they definitely don’t skimp. For dessert I went with the Tres Leches Cake. It was the perfect amount of moist and sweet, and they even topped it with a little whipped cream. The menu is extensive and since there are so many other dishes that I want to try, I’ll be back for sure. Felix is definitely a great family run restaurant in the Orange Circle for delicious homestyle meals.

We were meeting up with some friends at Chapman, and this place was suggested for lunch. Only after they started talking about the fried plantains did I realize I have been here before! We got a nice table outside, and service was quick and efficient. I had the red snapper plate, which came with rice, black beans, and fried plantains. I wasn’t a huge fan of the sweet sauce that was poured over the fish, but the fish itself was very good, as were the sides. Others had the Cuban sandwich and said it was excellent.

It hurts me to give this place such low stars. The waiters and staff were awesome! But the food had no flavor! I’m surprised this place has so many stars(that was the reason why I tried it) but it did not live up to its stars at all. I got the chicken supreme and although it looked delish, it was anything but! I also got the Riesling and did not like it when I’m a huge Riesling fan. The only thing that I loved was the tres leches cake. It was really good! The portions are really big, but I just wish the food had flavor! I put sooo much hot sauce on my food just so I could eat it. Sorry Felix, not a fan despite your nice staff: /

Hola Felix! Gracias por la comida. Estuvo muy, muy, buena! I had a great meal at Felix’s. Some items were better than others, but overall, we were happy with it. One of the things I loved most about the meal was the setting. My hubby, friend, and our pups grabbed a table outside on the charming roundabout. It was beautiful! I have never been to the city of Orange before, but this meal was a great introduction. The servers were pretty attentive. As an appetizer, we ordered papas rellenas and an empanada. The empanada was pretty authentic, and the papas were good, but they were mostly papa(potato). They could use a little better carne-to-papa ratio. We ordered the Arroz a la Cubana, the ½ chicken with garlic sauce, and the roast pork dish. We also ordered platanos maduros and tostones, and the rice with black beans. I had higher hopes for the black beans. They were a little bland. Everything was good, overall though. The meats were juicy, flavorful, and pretty close to what we are used to eating in Florida and New York. My fave of the three dishes, however, was the Arroz a la Cubana. Hay que rico! Portions are pretty big, so you can totally share a dish too. I would totally come back here, if I was in the area. I will shoot for the sangria and some dessert next time, though.
