Kind of over hyped on Unilocal, but it’s solid for what it is. Super cheap, and the owners are very nice. It really is just a cheap sandwich place. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back, but if I lived in the neighborhood I’d probably eat there 3 days a week, it’s one of those places. Check them out if you’re nearby around lunch.

I had a personal business appointment in the area and they provided lunch at my appointment. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant and it came with a cookie, chips and pickle. It was very good! I highly recommended this place for lunch if you’re in the area.

I wanted to flop this neighborhood grocery/sandwich shop a two but they were so very friendly and my sandwich was so good, I couldn’t. Half convenience store(literally), half sandwich shop. Ouch, nine bucks for a small sandwich, bag of chips, and can of Coke. Uncomfortable seats and a somewhat musty up in there. Probably beloved by locals.

We are visiting the Lake Eola area from the Northeast. The bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches are delicious. The croissants are fresh! Their coffee is mild tasting and wonderful. The owners are friendly. Did I mention that the place is very clean with umbrella tables outside. It is nestled in a lovely neighborhood. Love it!

Stopped in to buy a Powerball ticket, left very warmed and impressed by this charming convenience store and sandwich shop tucked away in Eola Heights. The mom and pop who run the store are very friendly and carry wine, beer, smokes and lots of cold drinks in the fridge along the wall. It reminded me of a corner grocer from my childhood and I’d rather shop here than a chain any day!

Adorable and friendly little locally-owned place, iconic in Lake Eola Heights. It’s a convenient neighborhood convenience store, and they do some pretty tasty sandwiches and Curry Friday specials too, with a few places to sit outside. Oh, and it’s a good place to get lottery tickets with little to no wait if you get caught up in Powerball mania.

Handy Pantry is a staple to Lake Eola historic district. If you are looking for a delicious sandwich from friendly people get on down to Handy. Sandwiches include chips pickle and the best chocolate chip cookie you’ll eat since your grandma Betty’s. Always fresh and tasty! They have a good breakfast special as well to get your day started right. What other place can you get a bacon egg and cheese on a croissant and a cup of joe for 5 dollars?

This small market is a gem. They have breakfast for $ 5 and lunch specials at $ 6. You can find wine, craft beers, and the owners are friendly. Just had breakfast and it’s delicious. Not sure about the coffee that comes with breakfast as I didn’t try it, but living so close, that’s not an issue. I can offer my barista services over special weekends. Ha!

The Handy Pantry is a local treasure! Not many small businesses treat their customers with the kindness and loyalty that the owners, Dev and Arti, do. A loud«Good morning!» every time you walk in the door, and they always greet you by name once they meet you. The lunch special deal cannot be beaten: a delicious sandwich, pickle, chips, and cookie for under $ 8. The breakfast sandwiches are great, too. They even offer homemade dumplings and do a curry night on Friday. If you are downtown and haven’t been here, you’re missing out.

An absolute gem. Tasty sandwiches at a great price. Tucked in a nice quiet corner of Lake Eola Heights. It’s a perfect place to escape the hustle and blah of the downtown lunch scene. Take the trip down Amelia. It’s worth it. Even better than the sandwiches and location? The proprietors Dev and Arti. They treat you like family from day 1. Free parking, great good, and a mom and pop atmosphere you can’t put a price on these. Come on by, Dev and Arti are waiting to make your day. BTW, every Friday night they have Curry Dinner. Get there early. It’s normally sold out by 5:30 or so.

The Handy Pantry is one of my favorite hidden nooks in all of Downtown Orlando. They are open Monday-Saturday, usually 8−7pm. The store is run by an amazing couple whom will quickly become your new best friends. They have everything from amazing sandwiches to toilet paper to loaves of bread. Everything is conveniently priced and you have to try their breakfast sandwiches any day of the week!

Everything I could want in a deli. To those commenting on whether the place is unsightly, I have to say sometimes you can use a little unsightly with lunch to keep you modest. Every good restaurant doesn’t need to have new sideboards. Anyway, they’re very friendly, great prices, and excellent deli sandwiches. It’s quite and nice outside. Everyone else who came through ordered to-go or picked up orders, so if the location really bothers you go ahead and order take-out. Nice choice of chips and sodas too, menu photos on Unilocal are accurate. Good radio station.

It’s not La Boheme. It’s a convenience store with dank sandwiches and breakfast located in the middle of a neighborhood. 5 stars! Plus the owner Dave is a nice guy who will remember your name!

It is what it says it is. It’s a little convenience store tucked in a cute neighborhood. Tons of potential here that isn’t being used, but handy for a pack of gum or a drink. $ 5 credit card minimum

This is my first Unilocal review, which should be a testament to how wonderful this establishment is. I live in the neighborhood and work in nearby Thornton Park. I took a soothing, brisk walk from work to this place after driving past it by chance a couple of days prior. I’m a sucker for«Lunch Specials.» So I promised myself I’d check it out. What a pleasant surprise. This place is just perfect. There are no other establishments around it, it’s just there in the middle of Lake Eola Heights alongside houses. So when you’re here, you’re in the neighborhood. I ordered the lunch special which included an egg salad sandwich on a croissant with chips and a drink — all for $ 5.85 including tax. At this price, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away, just merely satisfied. Which is what my next pleasant surprise was. I couldn’t believe how fresh and flavorful the sandwich was. What’s more, this place is a convenience store. Great for people like me who live in the neighborhood, but unimportant to those who don’t. This place is a treat and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to eat a rich and flavor-filled lunch in a relaxing environment — something rarely found in Downtown. I can’t wait to become a regular. Seating and tables are available both inside and outside. I sat outside on a nice sunny day. Definitely check this place out. You will not regret it.

Sometimes, all you need are some cheap eats, a loaf of bread, and a gallon of milk. This locally owned convenience store offers exactly what you expect, nothing more, nothing less. It is very reminiscent of bodegas in NYC, where you can order a sandwich to go with a can of soda. And maybe some detergent and case of beer if you need it, lol. The owners are very friendly, and service might not be the fastest if it’s busy, but that’s rarely the case. For around $ 6, you can get a sandwich, chips, and drink combo. If you live in the neighborhood, you owe it to yourself to stop by and say hi.

Local convenience store on my block and I go often but not nearly enough. It’s deceiving to the eye that this spot would make sure fresh, home tasting sammies but you have to try it out. They have some seating outside for those nice days to grab a lunch on the porch or you can get it to go. They also do call ahead so you can just stop in and pick it up! Each sandwich combo comes with chips, a pickle and a fresh baked cookie… yup! You have to clarify on which chips you want though because sometimes they pre-stuff the to go containers. All the sandwiches are named after surrounding streets in the Historical District and I always go for the Cathcart on a Kaiser and add salami: Mesquite turkey w/honey dijon, lettuce, tomato and sliced cucumbers. MMMMMMMM! So skip those chain sandwich shops and go support your local economy and a great mom & pop shop =)
