It’s probably not fair to review this location since I wasn’t actually seen, but here’s my story: I had called to set up a new patient appointment over the phone and was told that the optometrist had experienced a family emergency but could still take patients — I scheduled an appointment during my lunch break. When I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment I found the door to the building locked and the lights inside were off. Thinking that everyone was probably running late from lunch I started to call the office with my cell phone when a girl opened the door. She informed me that the doctor had left abruptly due to a death in the family and that she was just about to call me to cancel my appointment(at that point, it was my appointment time). Having recently experienced the death of someone in my own family, I realize that it can be a jarring, confusing experience. So I can completely understand having to cancel appointments to attend to matters. But I was really disappointed and bothered that the receptionist didn’t have the time to alert patients, especially when there was most of the day to do it and it appeared she had advance notice. It didn’t seem like a terribly small office but perhaps she, indeed, is the only receptionist for this location. Eh, not the greatest first impression.
