Volcano’s Coffee Bar

Due to my hotel lacking free wifi and forgetting my Verizon card, I made a stop in to Volcano’s and definitely wasn’t disappointed. While the service wasn’t exactly friendly, it was suitable for what I needed, which was some tea, a sandwich, and a strong wifi connection.
The tables are nice as are the big leather chairs they’ve got in the place. The wifi was exactly what I needed: strong, fast, and free. My soy chai latte hit the spot and was made properly: a big step up from some other coffee shops that might rhyme with Warbucks. I later ordered a turkey and brie sandwich and that also hit the spot: well made with good ingredients, and with chips and a drink it was a great price.
If I lived nearby Volcano’s would likely be a regular spot for me. As it is, I will definitely be back when staying nearby, as this spot is highly preferable to the cold comfort of a lonely hotel room with $ 12 wifi.

I agree with David M, «Volcano’s is a chain that aspires to appear as a Mom and Pop. That is a good thing.» I do love me my local coffee and tea shops but sometimes I need a caffeine fill and chains are the only thing within distance. This place is a nice alternative to the Starbucks empire and is in a great central location downtown.
Nice spot to get some work done or have a meeting. I was promptly greeted and the gentleman working was very nice. I am sure I will stop in here every now and again =)

I am beginning to realize, as my Unilocal history will attest, that owning my own business can also mean that client development also means weight gain! A few days ago, a client meeting brought me downtown to Volcano’s Coffee Bar which is located adjacent to the Plaza Theater.
Volcano’s is a chain that aspires to appear as a Mom and Pop. That is a good thing. There is nothing about Volcano’s that screams Orlando, or Florida or even «American South.» Colors and lighting are subdued. The room is large but still intimate. It really is one of the more relaxing venues that I have found in downtown Orlando.
I spent about two hours at Volcano’s because I arrived early for a meeting. While waiting, I enjoyed a skinny caramel latte (don’t judge me!). The latte was very well prepared and well balanced. I could taste caramel, milk and coffee, just as I had ordered it. Service was friendly, polite and efficient. Indeed, the barrista had the presence of mind to say hello to me even though she had her back turned to me when I approached the counter.
The price of my latte, with tip, was $ 5. That is a bit steep and the reason that I dropped a star from my review. Of course, that did not stop me from ordering another latte later on, along with a veggie sandwich.
The sandwich was full of fresh vegetables and a delicate hummus that complimented the vegetables without overwhelming them. Served on rye bread, it was quite a tasty lunch! My server told me that the sandwich was served with chips but I declined those. My server then quickly offered me a piece of fruit as an alternative. I also declined the fruit but I really appreciated the servers desire to give me options.
I would not hesitate to stop in at Volcano’s again. In fact, I am looking forward to my next opportunity to do just that!

Don’t hesitate to ask your barista what their favorite concoctions and creations are. I have never had bad luck when trying one of their suggestions. Recently, I was recommended their flavored Jamaican coffee of the day which leaned on the coconut side with a shot of chocolate to give it a deeper flavor. It was fabulous! They are always friendly and will do whatever it takes to quench your coffee thirst.
