This is my favorite bar in town. Great drink menu (including seasonal drinks), nice assortment of beers on tap, full menu of food, and free wifi. Very relaxed vibe as well. On Monday nights they started a gourmet hot dog bar which is the best thing to ever happen. On the weekends it’s a great place for brunch with $ 1.99 mimosas and a neat Bloody Mary bar.

This is the hotel bar for the Hotel Ottumwa. And, as hotel bars go, it’s one of the best I have been to in my bar travels throughout the midwest.
The bar has a separate street entrance so it feels like it has its own identity. Drinks are surprisingly cheap — at the time of my visit it was $ 2 for domestic pints, and a number of imports are also available.
Tom Tom Tap is clean and looks upscale, but without an upscale attitude. People in formal business attire intermingled with guys in shorts and tennis shoes.
The lounge has some beautiful artwork, including a striking mural depicting Chief Ottumwa (for whom the town is named) as the centerpiece of the horseshoe-​shaped bar.
