I will not return. There is a shop right across the walkway that sells Fossil watches. I’m not quite sure how many lawsuits have been brought against stores for breaking their watch during a battery change, but it does not seem like rocket science. I went to the store to have a battery replaced for my wife’s watch – easy enough. I thought, hey, they could do my timex watch at the same time – I have the battery, i don’t mind paying a couple extra buck to get that back off. Well-no. $ 11 for my wife’s watch battery, and they would not touch mine. They sent to this store across the hall owned by a lovely family who obviously knew something about watches. They replaced my battery for $ 7. So I will return to their shop and purchase my watch band and gifts for my wife.

The Fossil store is the only place where you can get your Fossil watch batteries replaced, and at $ 11 a pop, it’s quite an expensive endeavor(for a dumb little watch battery, anyway). You can just walk in and ask them to change your battery– you don’t need an appointment. That’s nice too. The store is in Oak Park Mall, across from Sephora on the second floor. Besides repairing and selling nice watches(about $ 75-$ 120) they also have a lot of leather accessories– handbags, wallets(men and women’s), gloves, etc. Not everything is leather, but the majority is. Fossil also branches out beyond the normal brown leather and gets into some colors– I once had a baby blue wallet and I’ve seen red ones before. I think they also have necklaces, but I don’t really believe in paying more than $ 10 for a single necklace, so I haven’t really looked them over. The store itself is pretty small, I would think more than 10 people in the store itself would be pretty cramped. There is a main glass display for the watches are, and then on the sides there rows of handbags and then separate dist-ached displays are around the store– see what I mean by not more than 10 people?! Anyway, the sales staff is friendly without being pushy, and it took about 10 – 15 minutes for them to change my watch battery. They had a little(read: little) stool/chair to sit on while you were waiting, but it’s pretty easy to pass the time just looking around.
