I love Hobby Lobby and the creative items they have in stock. They always have new interesting inventory and good sales. But I have to say that at this particular 119th& Metcalf location, the floor employees are actually rude. I have been doing a project that has required me to go into almost all the departments over the past few months. I have not found one floor person who has been friendly.(Totally approximately 10 of them). They need better customer service training like I find at other stores in the Overland Park area. I was at the local Sprouts Farmer’s Market yesterday and had two people come up and ask me «Are you finding everything?». «Let me find out for you. I’ll be right back». The Hobby Lobby cashiers have been better and don’t seem as annoyed with the customers. The customers are actually nicer than the employees! With all the controversy HL has had over the last two years, it seems they need to step up their customer service skills so they reflect their owner’s excellent integrity.

Massive store with a lot of merchandise and selection. And at reasonable prices. However there were very few«markers» indicating where to find particular merchandise. And we saw very few employees to ask for assistance. As the store was closing(30 minutes prior) a countdown was announced over the PA system and every few minutes thereafter. The person on the PA was very rude in her mannerism. And as we were checking out — the same rude lady kept talking to our cashier slowing down our check out. She flustered the cashier so much she forgot to take off our coupons and made a few errors ringing us up. It was awful.

Lots of Hobby Lobbies in this area, but this is definitely one of my favorite locations. Building is a little on the old side and could use some updates… but this location is huge with a great inventory. Store up-to-date on trends and has adorable decorations for any home. I can always quickly find exactly what I came in looking for. The staff is very pleasant and staff walking throughout store to answer questions. My go-to place for get’n crafty!

Whenever I need something framed, Hobby Lobby is where I go. My experience with the job they do on mounting and framing is very good and the price point is appropriate. I also appreciate the wide variety of ‘stuff’ they carry.

I don’t care where I’m at or what I’m doing, I always love Hobby Lobby. I always want to buy stuff I don’t need and start projects that I can’t finish. This is a great place to day dream about what I’d do for fun if I had all the money in the world.

Went in for some décor for the apartment. Left there with a ton of stuff, for dirt cheap. Stuff that I didn’t know was on sale(either it wasnt marked as a sale item, or I completely missed it) was on sale. Lots of options. Registers were way backed up. Only one register open with a ton of people waiting. oh well. Worth the wait.

The online 40% off any item coupons are really helpful… they have one available weekly. The sales rotate from department to department too, so watch the website for the biggest savings on YOUR project. I’m a baker and usually find everything I need for my cakes, cookies, cupcakes. The home décor section is huge and I’ve recommended it to many friends who thought this was a «crafts» only kind of place.

I have to chant my mantra before going into this store: «There’s no crying in crafting.» I feel like every time I go to the craft store everyone in the place knows I have no idea what I’m doing. Otherwise, just your standard, run-of-the-mill Hobby Lobby, closed on Sundays.

I like the selection in the Hobby Lobby chain and I think it’s nearly interchangeable with Michael’s for what I need; if I wanted nice«artist» quality supplies, I might look elsewhere(…online?) I can’t say, I’m just an amateur. I do enjoy wandering around in HL. In addition to craft, photo, and floral supplies, they have a variety of home décor,(overpriced) furniture, fabric, and gift ideas. I was very surprised at the size of their Christmas selection, and I came on the right week where nearly all of it was 50% off. There’s also a 40%-off-one-item coupon on their website some weeks. Overall though, if you go in and pay full price, I think it’s a little expensive for what you get. They are closed on Sundays, so do your shopping one of the other six and let people have a guaranteed day off. I’m not a fan of their religious opinions, but I don’t mind that they allow their employees one guaranteed day off to spend however they choose. One really frustrating downfall: the registers aren’t programmed with the weekly specials, so clerks have to enter in discounts by hand. This can lead to confusion at the register — I always get behind the person with a thousand things that don’t ring up as expected. Plus, if you have a full cart, you have to pay close attention to make sure everything rings up as you expect, or you might pay a few extra dollars without noticing. Edit: I had to go back the next day because I needed one more string of garland. The register thing was really obnoxious again.

Closed on Sundays… unfortunately when I try to go here. Lots of selection with pretty low prices when they are open.

I LOVECRAFTS! Therefore, it is no surprise that I am a big fan of Hobby Lobby. I could spend hours here if I were left on my own. I appreciate the easy use of coupons. Every week I am emailed a coupon(usually for 40% off one regular priced item), and I like that you can bring in a printed version or digitally on your smart phone or other device. The prices here are better than some other places, but pretty comparable to a Joann’s or a Michael’s. If looking for a home décor item, I would hit this place first before checking out the other two aforementioned commercial options. The sales here are pretty great when you come at the right time; entire departments for half-off, on occasion. I have seen this come in handy for many DIY friends getting married. In general, I am a fan of Hobby Lobby as it offers a wide selection of things I «need» all in one place. This Hobby Lobby is one of my favorites for two reasons. 1, it is close to my work and I can easily hit it up on a lunch break, and 2, the organization of this location is easy to follow and is kept spacious and clean to get me in an out of there fast… without spending my entire paycheck.

I am not a fan of Hobby Lobby in general but as the previous reviewer pointed out the lines are long and the generalized apathy of the employees are one reason the avoid this one. As a customer I could seriously care less about hygiene and how you don’t want to do your job, so I don’t want to hear about it. The store itself is large, mostly cheap unstable furniture in a dark motif made in China and fake flowers. Some of your usual craft supplies are available as well. The yarn and the fabric selection is horrible and over priced. They have very little knitting implements and the majority of the yarn is acrylic. Most of the fabric selection, which is very small, has a religious theme to it and is their brand and designs. The least I could say, in a positive manner, is that the fabric cutter could cut in a straight line. But the rest of the stores leaves something to be desired for.

My personal opinion: So I feel pretty torn about this Hobby Lobby. My main issue… it seems there is always a long line. I go at 2pm on a Tuesday and there is one lane open, 5 people deep. There is a strong apathy of the sales clerks that tells me, they don’t care. Also, they are super strict about their one 40% coupon per customer rule. Really is it that hard for them to do two transactions?(Here is a tip: The Michaels right down the road rarely has a long line and will do multiple transactions so you can save with your coupons.) And get some scanners. It takes double the time for them to ring everything in the system. Now I am sure you can tell by my reviews I have high expectations of customer service. But after waiting in line for 15 minutes at this Hobby Lobby once, and I was still two people deep, I took my items handed them to the cashier and said, ‘Forget it’. The women at the framing department here look like they look like they would rather be getting a root canal then at work. I feel like I am bothering them whenever I get something framed. Now here is the part that keeps me coming back… They have everything. They usually have it in stock and their framing department is the cheapest I have found in town. I go there when I know Michael’s won’t have something or if I need something framed. The stuff they frame has always come back looking pretty good. Otherwise, I avoid at all costs.
