We’ve had pizza in NYC and Original Pizza has it beat. Fresh food, casual setting. Great price.

Great place to have pizza with the family. Consistently good pizza in a casual atmosphere. Also great for large gatherings or parties.

A guy gave us part of our meal free, because it was the holidays. Great staff, amazing new York style pizza. 5⁄5.

I go here at lunch about 3 times a week. Huge fan of their greek salad. Toppings are always fresh. I love the atmosphere as the older gentlemen are always cracking jokes. My boyfriend even loves their pizza becaise it reminds him of growing up in New York.

While it was a strange experience to see the owner heavily berate his(working at the time) son behind the counter… Pizza was pretty good. New York ish crust, fresh toppings and fast service made it a great place to grab a slice real quick. And who knows, you might get a show with lunch! The«three items only» restriction on the side salad was weird though.

I wasn’t impressed. First when I walked in no one greeted me. Second the food was bland and I wasn’t impressed. The price was comparable but the flavor and freshness was far from ideal. I wasn’t sure about the place looking from the outside, it looked like a not going to be impressed location and it turned out to be just that. I didn’t want to drive to another place to eat as I was at the coffee shop nearby and was hungry. It was a more generous portion than I expected, but I’d rather had a smaller portion and a better flavor with fresher ingredients. It’s healthier I’d imagine than the Burger King but I don’t have a desire to return.

Awesome pizza. Just like NYC. Also very good calzone. Wife enjoys the salads. And junior likes the pasta. TV in the seating area — great for sports or judge Judy. Convenient to highway 69 and 435.

The lunch special, which included a large slice of pizza, a large salad, and a drink was $ 6.99. The combo pizza slice was delicious! The toppings were plentiful, the cheese and sauce were flavorful, and the crust was not too doughy, not too crispy, but just right. The salad was substantial, and the ingredients were fresh. The employees were friendly, and the interior was clean and spacious.

The first time I ever had Original Pizza was circa 2000ish in the food court at Union Station. I was in love with it. It’s dough is something I’ve never had before and I like how you can feel the tiny grains of yeast on the bottom. The sauce and dough are my favorite parts. The sauce isn’t marinara-y tasting and it’s not zesty either. It’s almost sweet. The older Italian guy at this location looks and acts like he just got off a train from New York. I wish they had more locations or something downtown. But I do make the 20 min trip to get my two slices when I’m craving it. I want to try a calzone sometime but end up with my usual. Suppose next time I shall step out of my comfort zone and go for it :-)

Do you love Costco’s pizza but wish they had different topping options? If yes, go here! Love their pizza. Not as cheap as Costco, but very reasonable at $ 3 a slice. I like going here for lunch. You pick the pizza & they will throw it in the oven for a couple of minutes to warm it up. Not a real fancy place, but who cares? The food is good & there is always available seating. You can also order a whole pizza for carry out.

This is a good place to grab a quick lunch. They have a couple of lunch specials, but the one I take advantage of is a salad, a slice of pizza, and a drink. I forget the price of that special, but it’s reasonable. From what I understand, they have great Italian desserts, but I have not tried them personally. IMHO, the only downfall of the place is that they serve Pepsi products and I’m a Coca-Cola girl at heart, so that’s the only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5! The owner is friendly and funny and the woman who runs the register is fast and efficient. Check it out! They will also customize your slice if you ask!

Always great, guys do a good job of always having the pizza ready. The family loves it. I wish the dining room was a bit nicer so we didn’t always have to carry it out. Regardless, we love the pizza period.

I have been coming to Original Pizza for years as it is the closest to real NY style pizza I grew up with back in NY. Last night I did a take out of a large pie, half anchovies and half Italian Sausage. I closed my eyes and felt like I was home. The crust was delicious and the sausage had real fennel seeds. I realize that there are many«gourmet» pizza places these days with all kinds of interesting toppings. But if you are a transplanted NYer looking for a taste of the Mom and Pop corner pizza places you used to go to back home, Original Pizza still is at the top of the list.

This afternoon I am singing your praises! Of all places, I was told about Original Pizza at the gym while complaining that there are no decent pizza establishments in the KC area. We decided to start off with the basic half pepperoni half cheese pizza and it was everything I had hoped for. I knew from the moment I walked in that it was going to be good, the pizza was showcased right when you walked in the door. The same gritty ambiance that we have back home. Nothing fancy, just good food. My only complaint is that there are no appetizers on the web site and no take out menu in the restaurant. BTW, are he jalapeño poppers cream cheese or cheddar?

Great lunch special: slice, salad, and drink is about $ 6. The guys running it are as Italian American as it gets. You can sometimes here them singing in Italian during lunch. I love eating here for lunch. And don’t forget the cannoli for dessert. Made to order.

We ordered from this place today, mostly on the basis of Unilocal reviews. The large pizza is huge — have never seen a pizza box this big. We got a large pepperoni and a large veggie. Calling this close to NY pizza is really misleading. The dough was thick and chewy with a soggy bottom. We threw out 80% of these pies. I’ve never thrown out pizza in my life… its almost a sacrilege. It was just that bad. Maybe we caught them on an off day. Bummer.

I love OP. Such nostalgia for me. You can’t get pizza by the slice better anywhere in KC. They get the crust to a lovely brown/toasted color I crave. I never remembered the gyros, is that new? Anyway, I ordered a «small» Greek salad to eat before the slice and they asked if I «wanted meat.» To which, of course, the answer is always yes. I assumed it was salami, pepperoni, ya know, antipasti meat. Nope – full on, hot, gyro meat with warm pita! Nice! The gyro meat was where they faltered just a bit. The taste was good, they just had a little trouble reheating it. Edges were a bit… rubbery? But the rest of the salad was delicious, really big, great & fresh toppings. I never knew, OP!

Let it be stated that this is only for the location on Antioch Road. The place is disgusting. Not the pizza, but the interior etc. Looks old outdated, just a shabby show in general. Its like if your house was in a state that was not presentable then people decided to show up. I felt like we showed up while they were in the middle of making the place not look so gross. Pizza was good, the guys taking our order were really friendly etc. But the décor was horrid and the bathrooms look like they could use comet, mixed with bleach, mixed with Jesus.

My favorite New York style pizza in the area. I order their pizza fairly often for carryout. My personal favorite combination is sausage, onion, and green pepper. Everything tastes fresh. I also think their plain cheese or pepperoni is good too. If you are a fan of the New York style pizza, then you definitely need to try this place. I haven’t found any other pizza place that can compete. Tip: go online to their website and print out a coupon for $ 2 off a large pizza. It seems to always be on their website.

Lives up to the hype. Loved it! Crust, sauce, cheese all right on for ny style. The main reason I can’t give this place 5 stars is cleanliness. Yes I know it’s more of a local dive and floors get dirty in a busy restaurant around dinner hour. However see a large hole in the wall and huge spider web in the ladies room was really what put it over the edge for me. I can’t not see those things and really wonder how if the kitchen is really clean. There’s certainly room for improvement in this area. I do think I’ll be back because the pizza really was that good. It was obvious this place has a following as almost every other person who came in while we were there knew the guys behind the counter. So that’s respectable in my mind. Be sure to visit their website for a $ 3 off coupon
