Primp and Blow, A Blow Dry Bar

I love Primp and Blow I came in after another hair salon caused heat damage on my hair and I saw Jessica I have extremely curly ethnic hair and she gave me an awesome Shu Emira hair masque and a blowout and it came out amazing she is definitely who I will be asking for the next time I come. She also showed a real great knowledge of curly hair!

Love this place but sometimes it’s a hit or miss with a stylist. So far I’ve found 1 amazing stylist that does consistently great blowouts. The rest have either left my hair semi-​damp, too heavy with product or too flat. I love the convenience of being able to walk in (most times) and get a blowout in 30−45min. BUT I do wish they opened a bit earlier on Sundays!

YAY for Primp and Blow! Found them via a Groupon notification on Facebook, and I’m so glad I did. I didn’t know they were in Prairie Fire! It’s a convenient location for me, as I live in southern Johnson County, but it’s also convenient for anyone, really. Just a few minutes east of 69 Hwy on 135^th Street, or west of State Line, if you’re coming in from MO.
I was lucky enough to have Kelley as my stylist… what a great girl! She complimented my hair color right away, which is always a great way to get on my good side. ;) Then we talked color and hair styles throughout my appointment. I told her what style I wanted and she nailed it! I will definitely be making my appointments with her, whenever possible. (Not to say the other stylists aren’t just as fab… but when you find someone that «gets you» right off the bat like that? You stick with it, sista.)
I love the Series Packages and Membership options they offer here, as well. I’m a blow-​out fan, so I’m thinking a membership will be a good way for me to go. Can’t wait for my next appointment!

Primp and Blow was exactly what I was hoping for … I felt relaxed and pampered during the service, and walked out looking & feeling great! My style was natural, but way better and longer-​lasting than if I’d blown it out myself. I’ll definitely be returning!

I am a African American woman with naturally loose wavy hair, similar to that of hispanic hair texture. I had washed & blew dried my hair earlier but didn’t feel like feel like flat ironing it because it’s so thick. I have for greater part of my life went to Caucasian stylists/​blow dry bars so I figured this would be perfect since it was in area I was doing my shopping. The stylist was very friendly but I think the fact that I was African American made her nervous for some reason? At times she seemed to be shaking? The flat iron was on low heat, perfect temperature for making curls but not for flat ironing hair. She applied no heat protection and used her fingers and a small baby comb for parting. There was no slight bump to end of hair .just straight. When she concluded, I looked like I needed to be in a zombie movie! :-(worst $ 32 bucks every spent. I went to blow dry bar downtown immediately after! They felt so sorry for me they re-​washed, blow dried, flat ironed again for half price! Left there looking fantastic! Beautiful setting, friendly people, but probably best for just Caucasian women, not women of color.

although the services provided at this salon are very good, the surprise on my credit card was not!!! you are required to give a cc# upon booking your appointment. that is suppose to be cancelled upon checking in. 3 days later a charge appeared on my cc for the price of my blow dry. I had used a Groupon upon checking out and was told there was no charge. I did not give them a cc at check out and left a cash tip. Please watch your account! I called when I discovered it and they had no idea how that had happened and did credit my account. If I wasn’t diligent in checking my cc, this would have slipped right past… not good business practice to make this kind of mistake.

If only this place wasn’t so far south!
It’s a very nice space — totally different atmosphere than the other dry bar I visited in the area. My shampoo & conditioner was nice and the blow dry technique was impressive. As I’ve mentioned in other reviews, I have a lot of hair and the stylist sectioned it out bit by bit and blew out with a curl. It looked awesome. And… it was done in 45 mins!
I would definitely consider making the trip out here for the professional service again. Compared to Parlor, the service at Primp and Blow is outstanding!

I went here today unsure of what to expect because this was my first «blow out». It was a Monday afternoon and my stylist, the front desk clerk and myself were the only people in the place.
The salon itself is brand new and so very clean. They don’t cut hair, only perform blow outs, waxing and hair extensions so there’s no hair to mess up the place.
My shampoo was nice and my stylist put a relaxing warm towel on my neck while she massaged my scalp. But the best part is my hair! I am a busy mom that usually keeps my hair up in a ponytail several days a week. My mom said «I didn’t know your hair was so long». My husband loved it too.
Sometimes these types of places can be a bit pretentious for my taste but my stylist was very down to earth. I can see myself returning, perhaps regularly.
