After realizing I didn’t have anything thawed that I could prepare for dinner, I started looking for what could be delivered. I found this place and the website said they delivered, but it was a nice night so I decided to venture out. Good thing because they do not deliver, the owner was actually surprised to find out about the website and it saying they delivered. My initial thought when pulling up was maybe I should try somewhere else. The restaurant is part of a gas station and had awful window marker writing all over the windows. I thought for just a second and realized some of the best food comes out of half of a gas station and ignored the window writing. I went in and I have to say the place looks like Pinterest exploded a little. There is a big menu across the top wall at the counter that is cram packed with a lot of options, handwritten in all kinds of pretty colors. There are little cutting boards under that, each with a sandwich combo that is the same as what is on the big menu, handwritten in pretty colors. There are little random things everywhere around the counter with all kinds of different things handwritten in pretty colors on them. It needs simplified. I felt like I didn’t have time to read what all was available and my eyes immediately saw the french dip(of course) so I just went with that even though I already had one today. The french dip is actually called, Bubba’s French Dip. I thought this was odd because I see the french dip as more of a sophisticated sandwich, not worthy of a «Bubba» tag. Not that a «Bubba» can’t be sophisticated, but if I was going to name a sandwich«Bubba» it would probably have a lot of mayo and something fried, maybe the entire thing fried. Anyhow, when my sandwich was brought out I realized what gave it the«Bubba» name. My french dip was served with brown gravy instead of au jus. I almost cried. Being I like a good roast beef sandwich about as much as I like a good french dip though, I sucked it up and enjoyed my roast beef sandwich. The sandwich was really good. The beef very lean and one of the most tender roast beef sandwiches I have ever ate. The horseradish was not really detectable. It came with mozzarella cheese, which is a little different also for a french dip, but worked well. The bread was fabulous. If the sandwich came with au jus, this bread would be perfect to soak it up without becoming soggy. The sandwich came with fries. The fries were standard crinkle cut. This place cooks all of their meat at the store and you can tell the difference over other sandwich shops. I think if they took the time to hand cut fries, it would really kick up the entire meal. All of the sandwiches have names. I was curious what the names meant, family? Random? Also, they are numbered randomly. There is no #6. Favorite numbers? One is named the Jenna James. At first I thought it was named after the porn star, but then realized Jameson. Just something I found curious. The portions are huge. I really should have brought home half of my sandwich, but it was so good and I really didn’t want to explain that I didn’t want the gravy because I wasn’t planning on making mashed potatoes soon. They serve breakfast all day and another group that was dinning while I was there ordered breakfast items. I watched as their plates were brought out and I was almost stuffed just watching them. The prices are good. Less than $ 10 for a sandwich, fries, and a drink. Breakfast looks like it can be bought for around $ 5 depending on what you want, but definitely under $ 10. The menu is a little confusing to see the prices on everything. Looking at a small take home menu, I was really baffled by the price of sides. $ 2.00 if you add them to a meal, $ 4.00 if you just order them alone? Do you get a larger portion if you order them alone? All of the sandwiches cost the same whether you get the combo with pastrami, roast beef, turkey, ham, pepperoni, salami, and fixings or just a BLT. The service started a little rough. There was some frustration about being suddenly a little busy and short staffed and that frustration was evident and voiced. Nothing rude or bad, you could just feel the frustration. I talked with the person working before I left who appeared to be the owner. The stress level was down and she was really personable and friendly. I got my sandwich pretty quick even though she was short staffed and set the precedent that it would take a while when I ordered. This is a place I will return to. There is a lot of good in the food and the service. The owner really impressed me and good home cooked quality ingredients are used and delicious. Just eliminate all the counter/menu clutter and please, please, please, no more gravy with the french dip.

Wow, is this place not what it appears or what? Very friendly staff. The food is made to order. All five of us were stunned at the quality. The sandwiches are huge and the French fries are excellent. I also made my way in for breakfast, what a surprise. My ham & cheese omelet was very good, perfect, crispy hash browns and best of all, everything was fresh. The décor… eh.

Four of us were here for breakfast and 3 of the 4 rated this place a 4 and the other person a 3(he did not like the taste of the gravy). My breakfast burrito was tasty but fell apart and the fork then took over. An omelet was served w/o toast and we think toast should always be a side to an omelet. My wife had the first thing on the menu(cannot recall its name) and was tasty. She reported they serve good coffee. We all had good quantity. All four of us would come back.

Plain and simple — we’re regulars. We have been going here since it opened and have never had a bad meal. The people that own the place are amazing and go the extra step in everything they do. I’ve noticed that the crowd of ‘regulars’ has increased since they opened and the owner Tammy frequently greet people by name. They busy themselves by making sure our kids high chairs are brought to the table and freshly wiped down. Service is very fast. The breakfast burrito is by far the best thing on the menu. When we have people in town visiting I go to Slice and get burritos for everyone. The best lunch item is the pastrami sandwich. Our kids like the french toast sticks. They use Hawaiian bread with a batter dip and it is deep fried.

All I want in KS is a NY style deli where I can get an amazing sandwich the way I want. That’s all I’m asking for. Despite the fact that Sliced was not what I was looking for, it was still pretty good. I got the Uncle Cooper. The meat seemed fresh, and the sandwich was huge. I was only able to eat half of it. I wasn’t a fan of the italian dressing that was on the sandwich. It seemed a bit too generic for me… like something I could go buy in the grocery store. My sandwich came with homemade potato chips, which I couldn’t eat because they were burnt. I would say Sliced is just average.

A friend mentioned this place in passing once, and we decided to check it out after nothing else jumped out at us. I was a little worried at first. We went in late afternoon on a Sunday and the place wasn’t the cleanest. When we went to order, they said the main component of my sandwich was out because they would be closing soon… kind of felt bad but also never saw hours posted. My sandwich(Kenbo) actually turned out to be completely awesome with their roast. The wife and kid both enjoyed their meatball sub and grilled cheese. The staff, which I’m guessing was a family, was super nice. Overall cool concept to spice up the run of the mill sandwich shop.

Found this place using Unilocal and I would have to say it was one of the best surprises I have had from a Unilocal find. When we walked in we were met with a very quirky café deli environment, but everybody working there could not be any more down to earth. The food was great, we had the Sunday omelet bar, and the owners were having a great time serving everybody. I will definitely be coming back in try their acclaimed Reuben. I was surprised at how much I loved this place and I am sure you will be too.

wow we stumbled on this place one day. The sandwiches are outstanding– highly reccomend the Cooper and the Muffaleta when they have it on special. My kids love it because they can get pancakes at luch time. This is our new favorite sandwich place(still love planet sub).

This friendly café on the KU Edwards campus seems slightly schizophrenic about its name. On the outside sign and on one of its chalkboards inside it’s Sliced, but on the menu it’s Slice. Either way, it’s a nice addition to the neighborhood(it’s near where I live). The café is open until at least 8:00 p.m. each day except Sundays. In addition to numerous sandwiches(I had a very tasty Reuben on marble rye) and daily specials, as well as individual flatbread pizzas, they serve breakfast all day, too. Fridays they have a prime rib carving station from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays they have an omelet bar from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Give them a try, and welcome them to the neighborhood!
