1st time customer. Not impressed at all. Menu prices are inflated to accommodate the«free sides» I had the shrimp fajitas and loaded the shrimp in my flour tortilla to realize that it still had the tail and part of the shell. It comes hot with grilled onions and peppers. That makes it a little messy to remove the tails. Wife had 2 beef tacos and was not impressed. Refried beans very bland, cheese sauce pretty lame as well as the salsa. Server was great. Staff front of the house was well trained and was well staffed(good) Not our«cup of tea»

My husband and I stopped here for lunch on a Saturday. Very nice staff and good service, and the restaurant was clean, spacious and not loud. The food was just ok, quite bland even for Americanized Mexican food. Chips were fine, salsa was fresh-tasting with cilantro but absolutely no kick. Complementary cheese sauce was not my liking but my husband liked it. The chicken and pico de Gallo in the chimichanga were fine, but again no kick at all. Rice and beans were ok but bland. Bottom line: good service, bland food. I’ll go to Mi Ranchito next time.

NO!!! Let us qualify our review — We have eaten Tex-Mex and Traditional Mex all over the Midwestern — Southern United States. We had spinach enchiladas, chicken taco, beef taco, and chicken enchilada with the house margaritas. The only things good about the meal was our server and the cheese sauce. Everything was cooked for family(read as baby) mouth. No flavor. We have had better food in a nursing home. Taco Bell and Chili’s were spicier. We will never go back. We will never recommend.

I was craving Mexican and looked up what was close by, this place had good reviews and so I went. Atmosphere and venue: pretty spacious venue, I was impressed by the television mirrors in the restroom, which was also clean, another plus. Food: Everyone gets complimentary chips and salsa(mild or hot) and a cheese dip. You also can have fresh flour tortillas. The chips and tortillas taste like your typical appetizer offerings, hot salsa was definitely hot but has chunks of avocado in it. The cheese sauce was okay, edible, but not omg I have to go back and get this. Similar to what someone else commented about the cheese feeling store bought, I felt it was more runny of a sauce than a thick cheese sauce. Hubby ordered the fajita half chicken half steak from the middle green special boxed section of the menu, per waiter recommendation. I got the shredded beef burrito. I would say there was some good and bads on both dishes. I felt the shredded beef was plentiful and a good portion, but it started to get salty for me. I liked his Spanish rice on his dish. We both got creamy corn, I wouldn’t want anyone to assume it’s like a thanksgiving creamed corn because it was not. It was like a sautéed corn in a watered down with cream sauce. My burrito came out not as expected also, because it was a longer rolled enchilada look with the rice outside the plate. My understanding of a burrito was it’s similar to an enchilada with meat inside but it should also have rice and beans stuffed inside, which this was not. This restaurant is a chain from another state and has many winning reviews posted around the entrance and restroom area.

Very, very good café… We had lunch there last Saturday and it was a wholesome lunch at a very affordable price. The ambience is peaceful and the food is just ‘wow’… Our server Manuel was really helpful. He helped us choose our dishes and we loved it. The deserts(they were complementary) were mouth watering… I would highly recommend this place.

This is by far the worse Mexican restaurant I have ever been to in Kansas. The food is like a microwaved meal. The décor is plain like the salsa and chips. It was so nasty I could not eat. I would never go back!

The food was excellent and the service was as well. They brought so much complimentary chips, different salsas, tortillas, cheese dip, and sopapillas you hardly had to order

Went here with my wife and two young kids for lunch. Super nice staff. Bright, clean restaurant. Quick, attentive service. Food came out fast. And you get free chips, salsa and queso(and free sopapillas for dessert)! Food was very good(not amazing but tasty). My wife had chicken fajitas and I had spinach enchiladas. Kiddie quesadilla was tasty. I wish there were more vegetarian options(why no huevos rancheros?) but this is a solid choice for good, reliable food and that’s family-friendly while not being a kids restaurant.

Chose this place as it was close to my hotel… And I’ve no regrets in doing so… Fast seating and quick service… The beautiful server Tori was great at service and took good care. Free Chips and Salsas were ok as usually… Pollo Ranchera was great and as expected… Rice on the side could be much better did not look that fresh… the complimentary Sopapilas are a perfect ending to you dinner.

The best Tex Mex I’ve had in ages! Their perfect Margarita is indeed perfect. So much variety, very generous portions, excellent chips and salsa. I look forward to going back again and again.

Have visited Ted’s previously in Oklahoma with great review’s but just can’t do the same for the one in Overland Park! From the moment we walked in the service was not pleasant. We were seated in the holding area until our table was ready, probably 15 or 20 minutes, this was around 1 p.m. Once we were seated around ten to twelve empty tables, we ordered. My husband ordered coffee with the waiter saying he guessed he could make some! We had to ask for more of everything, order was not right. The questionnaire was filled out with the above concerns. A young man said he could explain the reason we had the wait: They needed to let the three waiters have a break from the noon rush, all I said to that was am I not as important a customer as the person who came in at noon, especially if they had plenty of tables available ??? Won’t be recommending this Ted’s!

My husband and I drove by several times but never thought to eat here strictly because we couldn’t imagine good Mexican food coming out of a restaurant with the name Ted in it. Needless to say, we finally gave in and I’m so glad we did because we loved everything about this place. Fast and friendly service(Logan was awesome), the food was really good, we got free quaq from the Manager Randa for being newbies which was yummy. I got the chicken fajitas and my husband got the beef burrito — both excellent. Portions were hearty. Our biggest complaint was there were no booths just tables to sit in. Can’t wait to go back!

Went to Ted’s for dinner after my wife and I finished a movie — looking for a little different Mexican place. Looked at the pics on Unilocal and thought Ted’s might be it. We were wrong. Food was average at best and the menu was pretty limited. My wife had chicken quesadillas and the chicken was rubbery like it had been cooked hours ago and microwaved to warm it up. I had the classic Mexican plate that consisted of a shredded beef tamale(pork wasn’t an option) and a chicken enchilada covered in a crema sauce. The tamale was ok but the crema tasted like water downed sour cream — I expected some flavor to it whether it be chili, chipotle, whatever. Service was ok but the atmosphere was open and busy. Not the atmosphere or food we were looking for or expecting based on other reviews. In summary we won’t be going back.

My dine-in lunch experience was very good. The complimentary chips came with queso and mild salsa, and hot salsa and veggie relish were optional. My beef burrito had plenty of delicious ground beef, with beans and rice, and was served at the perfect temperature. I also enjoyed the free sopapilla with honey. Very nice. The service was efficient and attentive, but the dining room was a big open space without dividers, so the noise level became elevated when the room filled.

So, Ted’s is really infiltrating the KC Metro. Is it good? Sure, it’s good enough. Is it great? No, not by far. Ted’s is pricey, but they get away with that because they drown you in freebies: queso, chips, homemade tortillas, salsa, sopapillas. That being said, a single taco dinner with 2 sides is $ 13 or so. This is very Americanized Mexican food, but there’s nothing wrong with that. They have a lot of good qualities(TORTILLAS will knock your socks off; great service, to name a couple) but, at least for now, plan on a long wait during busy hours(like 45 minutes on a Saturday night). Just keep in mind when you order that you are going to be FULL and probably take home enough food to eat once or twice more. We shared Plato Gordo, still had enough for two meals left over. Tortilla soup is very good too.

Started munching on the the individual salas, cheese dip, tortillas & veggie relish with chips(complimentary with entrée). I had the perfect margarita for $ 10 it was a little pricey for its size & alcohol content. I ordered the Mexican Flag enchilada platter. It came out in a timely manner. The portion was a good size for the price. I liked the chicken crema one but thought the beef verde overpowered the plate. I managed to save room for the complimentary sopapillas — they were worth the room! Manuel was a very attentive and friendly. I will probably will return but order something different. This place could seem a little pricey if you didn’t get all the complimentary items.

First time to Ted’s and we thought it was excellent. I had the chicken/steak nachos and they were very good. Hubs had the steak tacos and liked them as well. Guacamole had just the right flavoring, and complementary cheese dip was great. Nice view out the back windows. The staff was attentive and friendly. Ended with complementary sopapillas — yum!

Great service and good food. We enjoyed the free queso and salsa(the atomic salsa is plenty hot but not unbearable) and chips to start. The skinny margarita has orange juice in it so I thought it would taste weird, but it was delicious. It was $ 8 though, so watch those prices. I got the chicken salsa salad and it was good! I would definitely return and recommend to friends.

I’ll sound like a broken record saying we just recently moved from the Dallas /Fort Worth area, but this is important because Dallas is known to have some of the best restaurants in the country — along with some other big cities but what Texas is also known for is amazing Tex Mex food. I was really worried about finding something we would love as much as back home. I stumbled upon Ted’s Café from Unilocal message boards. There weren’t many that discouraged people from going there. We went on a Tuesday night around 5:45 and there was already a 10 – 15 min wait. That’s when I knew, «Oh yeah. This will be good.» We only waited about 4 minutes because we decided to eat at the bar. We were greeted immediately with chips, salsa and queso. The salsa was so fresh, and delicious and the chips were perfect. They were so warm, and consistent. I ordered a beef taco, guacamole and hubby ordered some fajita nachos. Everything was amazing, and delicious. Fresh. So good. Guac was on point. Rice on point. Beans on point. So good. You are also offered free warm, yummy flour tortillas and then sopapillas at the end of your meal. We were pleasantly surprised and when we left, the whole waiting room was full. This was on a weekday night. It’s got a gorgeous view from the bar area and the waitstaff is super friendly. We also went back one more time after that one and our waiter was Ocean & he was super friendly and was a great waiter! No brainer — we will be back!

This is an easy 5 star in the Mexican world… easy! Ted’s is not really a chain, they have a few locations in Oklahoma City, and this is the first expansion. The place is an OKC institution, and without question the best Tex-Mex I have ever had. What’s great about Teds– you get queso, incredible salsa, and homemade tortillas just for showing up! The Beer– order the Dos Equis Amber with salt and lime crushed on the glass rim, in an absolutely frost covered mug! Service– Megan was our waitress, and an absolute professional… seriously like Capital Grill service. Food– order the teds tacos or the fajita enchilada, for the sides get the potatoes and the corn dish… Fantastic!
