This place is a treasure. And the real treasure is the owner. Listened to him play soft blues on an electric guitar accompanied by a CD player while we ate. When we finished eating he came over and introduced himself and asked about us. As the conversation continued he told a few stories in verse that he learned in his childhood by listening to older musicians and family members when he was growing up. A Smithsonian-worthy treat. He’s with a band, too. The Universal Singers of Oxford, I think. Mostly Mowtown stuff for reunions and the like.

This a straight up local country joint. Chicken, burgers, dogs, sandwiches. I had the special hotdog load with relish, onions, tomatoes chili cheese and bacon, fries and side of macaroni salad. Food was good. The owner and his friend were jamming on some blues riffs on a new found guitar singing and telling stories in the small store front. A great little place and a fun experience. Great local place to get a good burger, hotdog, fried chicken, fried fish and many great sides(okra, macaroni salad). The sitting is limited but they do call in and pick up. Mr Taylor is usually there playing the guitar and talking to everyone making you feel welcome. Don’t judge a book by its cover or you will miss this place.
