Great food, great prices. First time trying Guyanese chinese food and I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their dishes.

The food is great my favorite is their pepper shrimp fried rice. But the staff is absolutely unprofessional and nasty. My last and final time going there I had a $ 45 meal and generously tipped $ 10. I asked the lady at the front for a small pepper sauce so I can eat my leftovers with later on in the day at work and she had the ordasity to say give me .25 cents for it. Was completely appalled and will never be going back there. That’s just bad business. You don’t treat paying customers like that. I wasn’t asking for a handout. .25 cents is nothing it was all principal.

Horrible food… seems not fresh at all… fry rice isn’t fresh… I ordered shrimp curry here before seems like they cooked it in ½ cup oil… so much grease. I called today order same item told them please little or no oil that last time they cook with too much oil SAMETHING full of oil… the shrimp curry had mash up okra two small ½ inch potateo and 6 small shrimp full of curry. they will never change. no healthy way of life. if you want to get a heart attack or clog your arteries do come here if not RUNAWAY. also they always have crab curry on menu but when you ask for it they never have it supposedly season item but it’s summer winter fall never available. .sad

I have been here three times. Its an ok spot to get Guyanese/Caribbean food. They have parking. The staff is not friendly, the food is very oily. Not too many healthy choices. The best thing about this place is the scenery. The bamboo that surrounds the wall and tables are really really nice. Gives a feeling of the«back home» comfort.

My husband and i come here when we need a quick sit down, west Indian bite to eat. We mostly get the house special fried rice and house special lo mein. Prices are reasonable and big portions as well. Food is tasty but we have not tried much variations. Décor had good intentions but needs a renovation.

Good tasty food! This is one of my frequent take out places! Always walk away a winner with #42, Bar b que chicken with fried rice, keep meaning to try something else but rather prefer to stick with consistency.

The food is good but they need to train their staff, the service was very bad. Had to ask two people before we could get a glass of water. I ordered curry duck and my husband had chowmein. Asked if we could get the extra to go and they put it in one can you put curry and chowmein together? Really bad service the worst.

This is a Guyanese restaurant in Queens with an emphasis on Guyanese Chinese cuisine. I tried a couple dishes from here. –Jerk Chicken Chow Mein — The noodles are just like they are at a Chinese takeout, except that they were slightly spicy because of the jerk flavor. The chicken was the best part. The pieces of chicken were succulent with slightly crispy skin and had this nice sweet and spicy taste to them. I highly recommend trying this dish. –Curry Goat: This dish was not as good. The pieces of meat seem microwaved and were hard and rubbery as a result. The portion of meat given was also a bit small. I had this with a big piece of dhall puri(white rice also available).

where do i start? this bamboo garden is not good at all!!! firstly, they initially received a B rating from the city. which isn’t based on the food, but on the cleanliness of the kitchen, etc. the last time i visited this restaurant, the food was just«ok» and there was a roach in plain view crawling around. talk about disgusting!!! a roach. ugh. the quality of the food is not up to par, and the pastures are purchased from another location making them stale and not desirable at all. if you want quality Guyanese food… there are places not too far away that can provide great food, not here.

Very simple order and we received enough for seconds, and thirds. I have been here a ton of times. It’s my secret date spot. Perfect, reasonably priced food. Decent atmosphere and close to numerous escape routes ;) Most recently I went here yesterday with my daughter we ordered the mango chili chicken with fried rice and the house lo mein. A side of puhlorie(naan with chickpeas in the dough) with curry sauce completed the meal. We were in heaven! My daughter loves it here and our waitress was super friendly. All of that for less than $ 30?! Plus after our thirds we took home two full take home boxes. Lol

Guy Chi(Guyanese Chinese) food here. Jerk chicken is fabulous but I was not impressed by their fried rice. Some of the veggies tasted frozen and they added too much onion that was still a bit raw(and I LOVE onion). Chicken curry was fabulous but I didn’t really see much of a difference with other curries I’ve had before that were not Guyanese style. Get their Puri. It has some smashed lentils in it. Crazy décor. Would like to come back with a huge crowd and enjoy the Christmas lights, fun music and drinks.

Stopped in after an enthusiastic recommendation from a friend. Had the pork & broccoli and the fried fish in curry sauce. The waitress was kind enough to substitute rice & peas for the included white rice that came w/the pork. Pork & broccoli — fresh, crunchy broccoli, cabbage and carrots, lots of tasty roast pork in a tasty sauce. It’s a simple, good version that easily filled me up. Curried fried fish — this is a winner. Well spiced curry sauce that’s just a little salty on its own, but when mixed w/the rice & peas, the combo is practically perfect. The fish is breaded, fried and drenched in sauce. I’ll have to come back to try the curry fish stew and some other dishes, but I can’t wait.

I’ve been to the Brooklyn restaurant once and this is my first time at this site. The services leave a little to be desired and the drinks could be a tad stronger, but this is a good place to come for authentic tasting Caribbean food. We had the coconutshrimp for an appetizer and was almost stuffed from it, as they were JUMBO shrimp. It was obvious they use real coconut flakes, but it didn’t overpower the shrimp.

Although I have been going here for years, I am ashamed that I have taken so long to review this place… so slapping my wrist and shame on me! If you want West Indian food, the best thing to do is to come to Richmond Hill, Queens area. There are plenty of West Indian restaurants to go around such as Bamboo Garden and Mangoville(same owner), Kaieteur, Hibiscus, Palm Court, Shipwreck… just to name a few of the longer standing ones. With that said, Bamboo Garden is one of the first establishments and also the best! Yes, the décor may be borderline tacky/whacky(real bamboo sitting booths with Christmas lights! Say whaaa?!) but the food is sooo worth it! Whenever I go there, I order their mango drink which is made, not form mango juice or flavor… but…wait for it, wait for it… MANGOPULP! Oh yea! Not too sweet but a must when you are eating your food with that PEPPERSAUCE! Their BBQ Chicken is THEBESTINTOWN! Did you hear me correctly? Should I repeat? THEBEST… there, I repeated! The fried rice it comes with is moist and full of flavor — just like I like my fried rice! The regular and jerk chicken are pretty good too but you cant beat the BBQ chicken… that sauce will give you foodgasm! Mind you, that this is not the typical American BBQ flavor… this, of course, has the West Indian twang to it! I would also recommend the black pepper shrimp either as appetizer(w/o rice) or entrée(w/rice). Although I never had their goat curry, I have heard good things about it. As for service, the wait staff is pretty good. I have no complaints so far. The food takes a little time but all good things are worth waiting :) Now that I have gushed over the place like a teenager from Gossip Girl and exhausted the use of exclamation points to my English teacher’s horror, please go check it out! Even if it is just to indulge me(even though you don’t know me :) I promise you will not regret it… P. S. Very rarely do I promote a place because I loved it so much that I would wanna take the place home and keep it in a corner so I can go to it whenever I want to and this would be one of those moments!
