San Francisco, CA
I’ve visited a few times and everyone was friendly, but not overly-​so. They were welcoming and encouraging, but not pushy. One service a month is in English, the rest are mainly in Japanese, but people are very willing to translate. It is a pretty small gathering and a nice way to learn more about Buddhism. It’s a little difficult to find the first time so leave a little extra time for wandering.
