Alexian Bros Health System

I went to the Alexian Brothers on Hwy 14 in Palatine, but it’s not on Unilocal.I went in to have persistent chest pain examined. They did an EKG and Xrays and game me a Tylenol. The service was fine and the people were very nice, but they didn’t tell me what could be causing my chest pain, just pretty much repeated everything I read online. I’m sure they’re very thorough and are good at what they do, but my problem is with their fees. I told them I would be paying out of pocket, but they didn’t give me prices before treatment. They charged me over $ 300 for a 20 minute exam and $ 38 for one Tylenol pill. This seems to be a place that just hikes prices up and passes it on to your insurance company thinking the patient doesn’t care, except my insurance company wasn’t footing the bill. I’ll never go to an Alexian Brothers again because of the amount they charged me. It’s about time health care providers start becoming more transparent in their fees.
