Office Max does seem to have gotten a little pricier than it used to be. But I don’t see much of a difference with their competitors, Staples and Office Depot. So I can’t hold that against them! What I will say is that I used to frequent the Office Depot on Rand in Arlington Heights and have switched over to this Office Max store mainly due to customer service. I’ve always found the staff to be friendly, helpful and accessible at this store. It is often difficult to find knowledgeable staff at their competitor down the road.

I love this Office Max location! The store is always tidy and it is easy to find what I want. As I teacher, I frequent Office Max at least on a bimonthly basis. I love the TeacherMax card which gives you rewards for your purchases and doubles the limit on items. When doing back to school shopping, this store was able to match prices of competitors, even though they did not have items in stock they gave me comparable items. Also, they had a sale going on there brand school supplies and ran out, so they offered to give me the name brand for the same price. Awesome customer service! I will go back here over other Office Max stores any day!

Due to the fact that I’ve worked in retail and customer service as well, I expect adequate customer service whenever I shop. This request was not fulfilled at this location. The truth is, Office Max is a huge competitor with Staples, so why should I go to this store over the others? Location was the deciding factor. However, do to the poor customer service, I am willing to travel the extra distance to shop for the same exact materials, with pretty much the same price. As a teacher, shopping for our own materials and using our own money on supplies is a common act. However, luckily we have a tax exempt form that we may apply to school purchases. It was late, maybe around 8pm when I entered the store, buying an emergency supply of paper in which I needed for a lesson the next day. When I gave the cashier my tax exempt form, the conversation went something like this: C: Whats the number? Me: What number? C:The number I need to put in Me: *thinking it was the tax exempt ID, I pointed to the following numbers on the form* C: No, that number means nothing to me. I need the number from your business or school. Me: *confused* phone number? C: No! not the phone number! The tax exempt number that I need to put in. Me: Um… I don’t know where to find that. C: Well I can’t do anything for you, then. This conversation led me to explain that I had a long day as well and I didn’t appreciate her tone of voice or the way she was speaking to me. When I asked for her and her manager’s name, she was all of a sudden chipper and sweet and asking for forgiveness. It was too late by then. She ruined my night and my want to attend the store ever again. Well, there was another time I went to this store because it really is RIGHTTHERE and my bf needed something. The cashier this time called the store Office DEPOT. Wrong store, honey.

Nice store, very convenient, high prices. Our office likes the cartridges and toner return program. You get $ 3.00 in rewards per cartridge that you can use towards future purchases! This store is nice and brightly lit and the sales people are very helpful! They never seem to be busy and always are willing to help. Took away a few stars because it is not better than average and their prices are high.
