Came in for a cut, fast and very friendly barber, will come again. Traditional barber place.

If you’re looking for a simple haircut in a nice traditional barbershop, with real barber chairs, this is the place. It’s quite popular on Saturdays

I have a specific way I want my hair cut. The only problem is I can never find someone/salon/barber shop to do it my way! Until now. I went to the Village Barber Shop after reading Unilocal reviews of the place and am so happy I did. Parking right in front of the shop. Waited less than 10 minutes for my turn. Told the barber exactly what I wanted and she delivered 100%! The place reminds me of the old time shops my dad took me to when I was little. This seems to be a men’s only place and that’s ok with me. $ 15.00 for a haircut and a straight razor neck shave with hot shaving cream! I have FINALLY found the place I’ve been looking for for years!

They have three chairs and usually three people cutting hair. It’s a great place to get a haircut. You walk in and sit down. No need to wait more than a few minutes if there is a wait. Tell them what you want and they get cutting. They straight blade the back of your neck and sideburns too. $ 15 + $ 5 tip and you’re still paying less than a salon and it’s much better than a chain haircut place. You can talk or not talk doesn’t matter. Just go.

I broke my foot so I was looking for a barber to give me a shave. I’ve been to so many places that disappointed. Usually would have to go home and shave again. Not this place. I don’t think I have to shave for another week. Barber was very thorough. Liked the shave so much I stayed for a haircut. I will definitely be going back. Great experience.

I moved back to palatine after living away for a few years. I tried many different places for a haircut. This is the only place I went back to. Its a no nonsense shop that gets the job done. Every worker has the skill to cut my hair correctly. There is no worrying about getting scarred. None of that fluff small talk or tv screens for every cut station. This is what I have been looking for and I have found it.

This is really a ‘Men and boys only’ review, since I have never seen a woman get a haircut in a barber shop, although they do list girls cuts on the menu, and they have one female barber. A neat, simple barber shop in downtown Palatine. A basic men’s haircut is $ 15 plus tip, reasonable considering this isn’t a clippers on, in and out«chop shop». Real barbers with real«barber-shoppy» things like straight razors and hot shave cream. Things I missed going to places like supercuts and other corporate places. Moms and dads with little guys will like this place, the barbers are friendly and offer a lollypop afterwards. Theres a tv and mirrors and a little case with barber shop things in it, just like you remember. They have 4 chairs, and can be busy on the weekend, however my visit today(Saturday) all 4 chairs were occupied yet the wait was about 5 minutes. There’s something about getting your hair cut by a barber rather than those other places, something nostalgic and fun, even the aftershave brings back memories.

I’ve been going here for over 10 years. There have been multiple people behind the scissors, but I always get a good haircut. I have never felt the need to request a specific barber in this shop no matter who was on duty. I also like the fact that they shave your neck with warm shaving cream at the end of each haircut; I find this very relaxing.

I’ve been going here for about two years now and always get a quality haircut. No chit-chat, no fancy«salon» metrosexual crap, just a simple barber shop. The people here know what they’re doing and that’s all that matters to me. There is hardly ever a wait. Most of the time, you can walk in and get in a chair immediately. That is not to say they don’t have much business, because they do. Every time I’m in there, a steady stream of customers come in and out. They do a great job and many other people obviously agree. They’ve had my business for two years and will continue to have it as long as I live in the area.

When I first walked in the tone was somber and quite depressing. No one(and I mean NOONE) was smiling. It was quiet and really creepy the way all three men who were getting haircuts sat facing forward expressionless as if the military really had robbed them of any shred of personality. Go figure. I felt like I had stepped into a club where I was obviously not invited. My kind was not wanted. Finally it was my turn. I went in today for a good shave. The first woman who called me over seemed to get really depressed and kind of pissed off when I told her I wanted a shave. Apparently she can’t do that. So I was turfed over to another woman who agreed to do it. After some confusing banter about what I wanted, we proceeded. Here’s where it got nice. The shave was terrific. Hot towels, warm shaving cream, gentle touch, a quick facial massage and I was done! Very thorough and I was pleased with the results. Even though she was running razors across my face, I still would’ve liked some idle chit chat. Some friendly«how do you do». Something more than just the quiet thoughts in my head. I quickly found out the hard way that they DONOTACCEPTCREDITCARDS! Who in the year 2010 does not accept credit cards? I had to leave my license and go to the bank down the street to get cash. But alas, I checked on Unilocal before I went and it said this place accepted credit cards! No it does not. Overall, the experience left something to be desired. I probably won’t go back. The lady was extremely nice and did a really good job. But the tone and vibe overall was un-welcoming. And they don’t take plastic. To me, that’s a 3rd strike, you’re out.

A very nice place for a man to get a simple yet good haircut for all of about $ 20. Old fashioned Barber shop kind of place with the old time barber chairs. Wall to wall mirror and a big storefront window overlooking Brockway St. Great place for a manly hair cut. The day I went with my 19 year old son there were quite a few good looking men in there getting hair cuts too. All I needed was a beer and I would have stayed longer… !
