«These tomatoes are actually good» A couple of tips: — If you go out for a smoke, make sure to tell your waiter explicitly. They WILL clear your table. — Beware the harp man! This being said… the food is just ok. The tamales were a bit too dense and doughy. Salsa was ok, though, and the service was certainly attentive(see above).

Amazing food, I love the chicken tacos and quasidilla! The drinks are strong but tasty! The service is good, but be aware they do get busy and may need a minute to get to you. I can’t stop raving about the chicken tacos, get them with flour tortillas and not fried! You can’t go wrong

Want a decent meal for two for under $ 30.00 in Palm Desert! Places like this really do exist. Hubby and I got a shared taco plate for $ 25.00. Don’t let the price tag fool you. It actually serves two people. You get a platter of four different kind of meats. It also have sour cream, salsa, guacamole, cheese, and jalapeños. You get a side plate of rice and a choice of beans to you’re liking. You choose flour or corn tortillas. All this food for $ 25.00. That’s $ 12.50 per person. It’s a really cool deal. The food here is fresh not overly seasoned with sodium. That’s a great thing for Mexican food here. Drinks are an extra charge. This place is real small I might add. Ladies don’t bring you’re very large handbags to this place. It’s not very ideal. It will get banged into. Trust me it has happened to me. Full service bar for all you’re Margarita needs as well. They have other dishes also. But I want to point out the shared taco plate to the masses on here. Clean and helpful staff.

This was some of the best Mexican food I’ve had, hands down. I got the carnitas, it was amazing and fresh and super tasty and tender. My husband got the Camarones a la Diablo and they were awesome– he cleaned his plate! Service was fast, helpful and to the point, no chit chat. Fine by me! We will be back!

They have a few flaws, namely their bar is TINY. You can barely fit anyone in there, and when it is happy hour forget about trying to get a seat, you will end up waiting a while. They should look into expanding that area, as the bar is usually where people are most likely drawn to. That being said, for how small it is they can crank out the drinks fairly quickly. The prices are a little on the high side and could be lower. Some good things though, their food is good, and the service is exceptional. I would come back because of those two things.

This place stands out in a sea of Mexican restaurants. They have an appetizer of stuffed chilis which are the bomb! So good. Not sure what kind of peppers they are but they’re stuffed with shrimp and served with a creamy sauce and soy sauce. Best thing on the menu! Everything else I’ve tried is good. Gets very busy but totally worth it!

Fresh Agave is my go-to restaurant for Mexican food in Palm Desert!

Through we were staying at a very well known and expensive hotel, the Unilocal reviews for Agave exceeded those at the hotel encouraging us to try it out. Expect a wait. We were quoted 25 minutes but thankfully it turned it to just be 5! We started with their mango margaritas and they taste so fresh it’s easy to think they use fresh mango to make them. You will not likely feel the affects of any alcohol which for me as a driver was a plus. But those seeking more may want to try their classic margaritas. I could barely handle one sip. As an accompaniment for the meal, I ordered the gluten-free cream of corn chili poblano soup. The flavor was off the charts and thankfully not to spicy for my taste. The texture was mostly smooth and creamy with some necessary pieces of chili or corn. Next I ordered the chicken mole because my grandmother makes the best and I like to see if there’s anything close– this is the closest I’ve found. Two chicken breasts were covered in thick and rich sauce which borders more on savory with a hint of sweet. It came with corn tortillas and choice of beans and rice. It was so much food I couldn’t finish it all. My friend enjoyed her enchilada and taco. It was so perfectly crisp I could hear the crunch as she ate. It made me want the taco. She liked this it came with avocado and without tomatoes(she dislikes tomatoes). We both highly recommend this place!

Our very first visit to fresh agave Mexican Grill was great! I would recommend this restaurant to someone who loves corridors, great tasting margaritas, and friendly service. The music was great! Our waiter was good at his job. I had the fajitas grande, they were amazing! The agave peppers were stuffed full of shrimp. Awesome! The peach Margarita was so so, the mango margarita is where it’s at tho. Would be back.

Highly recommend this locals joint! Love a Mexican restaurant the GETSITRIGHT! Salsa– fresh, tortillas– homemade and fresh, fajitas– enough to feed 4 people in one order! Margaritas– the best drink I’ve had since we arrived here. The servers/Bartender Rodrigo and Alan took excellent care of us. Overall, great experience! Highly recommend a visit, UnilocalER’s in town!

Fresh? Far from it. Upon ordering I asked the waiter what fresh fish they had and he replied, none, its all frozen. From the chicken, burgers, etc… he said it is all frozen, nothing was fresh except the water you get with a meal. Still gave it a try, and, nothing impressive at all. Parking is a bit challenging as well.

Our meal at Fresh Agave was our favorite dinner out when we were in Rancho Mirage! I only wish I had booked a reservation because I didn’t think it would be so crowded on a Wed night at 7:30. Chips and salsa were brought to the table right away. But it took a long time to get water and food ordered. Chips and salsa were both very good! The salsa here is very different from Guillermos. Fresh Agave’s is spicy and full of flavor. We ordered food and drinks at the same time because. I couldn’t decide if I should order the shrimp with the garlic butter sauce or shrimp with the Diabla sauce. The server recommended Diabla sauce if I liked spicy food. It’s sauteed with habanero chiles. I ordered it and was It was too spicy for me to enjoy. Do not order this unless you like to eat super spicy food. On the other hand, my husband’s chile relleno were delicious! Perfect amount of cheese stuffed into the poblano peppers, battered and fried. Served with the salsa ranchera sauce, it was perfect! I get that it was a busy evening and will put up with getting flour tortillas instead of corn but the margarita without the tequila taste is very disappointing. I won’t order margaritas here again. I paid $ 9 for a fruity drink. Why the 4 stars you ask? Chile Relleno! At times, I’ll put up with bad service if the food is good.

Since we purchased a home 7 mos. ago in the desert this has become our go-to Mexican restaurant. The staff is amazing, the food excellent and the environment always lively and fun scene to watch. And as for the margaritas… well once you’ve been there you know! The place during high season is always packed, and there’s a reason. Can’t say enough good things about the staff there, they make you immediately feel like family. Thank you Fresh Agave!

Just got into town. Was told this is the place for Mexican food. I had the Chicken/Beef Fajitas and I have to say, it was big. And very tasty. Caramelized Onions & peppers and a healthy amount of Beef & Chicken. The Salsas are also very good. Nice little Bar in the front, Highly recommended.

First time coming to Palm Desert for a work trip and my coworker and I decided to try this place out. We were both not impressed at all with the 2 hostess working up front. We came in around 3 – 4 pm and it wasn’t busy at all. She told us about the happy hour and told us to seat ourselves. We waited for 15 minutes with no menu and no drink offerings while the 2 hostess were chatting away and one of the girls even went to Starbucks for drinks. Basically, we were ignored. Finally, a waiter approached us and gave us menus. We ordered from the happy hour menu and the regular menu. The food is okay, definitely not authentic Mexican food. The tacos on their happy hour menu were tiny but the portions on regular menu were good. I ordered a shrimp cocktail but it was ok, not really that fresh. For $ 8, it was pretty tiny. I wouldn’t come back here again. Not a great first impression.

This place will only get three stars from me for the following reasons: The food was decent, but the price for the food that I got was ridiculous! I have been to several Mexican food establishments in the valley and my plate which averages around $ 10-$ 15 was $ 20! I didn’t mind ordering the plate since it is all about the experience, but if I’m going to pay that much for Chicken Fajitas, it had better be something extraordinary with a special taste not seen anywhere else in the valley. The food was average and nothing extraordinary above what I have tasted elsewhere. The restaurant had a touristy vibe and did not provide that authentic experience I have received at other Mexican restaurants. I do not mind that they cater to the snowbirds or visitors, it just seems like this restaurant tries too hard to cater to out of town visitors and forgets about the locals.

Great family-style Mexican food. I definitely prefer the food here to Las Casuelas or Las Casuals Café, portions are generous and not badly priced. They also have a great selection of margaritas and latin beers. The restaurant is fairly intimate and can get loud at dinner time so definitely look elsewhere if you want someplace quiet. This is a great place to take your friends and family, not your grandparents. One important tip though: the guac may taste plain when they give it to you. This is done probably for health reasons I think so most people will want to mix in a little of their salsa and add some salt to make it satisfy most american tastes– when you do that, it tastes like some of the best guac you can find at a restaurant.
