Very friendly greeting, although I was the only one in the restaurant on a Monday afternoon, but as more people walked in they were greeted. I had the California rolls and shrimp tampura, it was nothing special, but for the price it made a good lunch. Would go back again if I was in the area.

Im giving this place two stars because the food was decent. Showed up at 7 pm and didn’t get our food until 830. The service was AWFUL. The server did not check on us, and there was nothing done to make our visit at all pleasant. When the food came it was decent but it really should not take over an hour for SUSHI and RAMEN. Regardless of how busy the place is you should manage your time and your staff better and get things done In a timely manner. I will not visit this place again. If your having a hard time running business for the night atleast take ownership and apologize and try to make the customers experience a better one.

Went here for the first time tonight… And will never ever go back. Waited 1 hour for our food… And one person in our parties meal,(ramen) took 1 hr 30min. Unacceptable. Servers never came to tell us what was taking so long. Asked for water 3 times till someone actually brought it. I don’t know if they were understaffed on cooks, or what happened but it was insane. Then asked for the check and they took the initiative to split it, when we didn’t even ask for it split. They messed very thing up, forgot to add things to the bill, didn’t even comp our sodas, no discount or anything. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry before, I understand things happen, but there is a certain way to handle it, and this was the most unorganized chaos I have ever seen in a restaurant. The only thing was the food was decent, but we couldn’t even enjoy it. When we asked for the check, one person in our party went next door to Billy Q’s and ordered a pizza to go… The pizza was done and ready before we even got out checks… Worst experience at a restaurant ever.

Very delicious sushi in the middle of nowhere! We were heading to Phoenix and stopped for a bite to eat. What a treat. The sushi was great and the side dishes were big sized, well worth the money. Only complaint I have is that they charge you for a bowl of rice. Rice at any Asian restaurant should be like bread at any Italian restaurant: free.

Prompt and attentive service. Clean and quiet atmosphere. Average sushi restaurant prices($ 6-$ 14 for rolls) We drove down from Northern California and were looking or a casual place to grab dinner. I loved the sexy-something tuna roll and we loved their Crazy Dragon Roll. My husband got the Fried Philadelphia roll which was good but had a little bit too much cream cheese. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a comfortable, casual place to get your sushi fix! Yes. We would return.

We were just passing through from San diego and the food was very fresh. Nice wide rolls that didn’t skimp on the fillings. The fresh water eel was delicious. Everyone was sweet. I will definitely stop here again on my way back. Great little sushi spot in the desert.

I walked in last week. No one greeted me. After about 5 minutes they seated me at the bar with no menu. I waited for another 6 to 7 minutes. They did not bring me a menu in the end so I walked out. Terrible service I will never go back.

Found Sushi Café by accident — and what a great find! Ordered takeout from the endless menu of options. Tasty sushi and cooked food, large portions, reasonable prices and great service. The bubble tea and smoothies are pretty tasty too — and for $ 2.49(without bubbles), you can’t go wrong! There are limited sushi options in Palm Desert, but Sushi Café hits the spot!

Under cooked rice. Had no back up to make new sushi with and continued to serve it. Unfortunate. I really wanted to enjoy some sushi today.

Fantastic sushi and customer service. Had no idea the rolls would be so big! I’ve eaten at a ton of sushi places… this is at the top of my list. I got the Diana Roll and Salmon sashimi(thick fresh cuts). The only thing that is horrible about this place is the wait. Not only to go orders that take over an hour to make… but as well as inside to eat. They need to hire at least 2 people to be making the rolls… not just one person. It makes me not want to come back :(

A decent sushi place but you don’t get that LA vibe while there. There was no instant Japanese greeting by the staff when you first walk in. Those greetings always give me that feeling that your in store for some authentic Asian cuisine. The fried rice was subpar but the California rolls was yummy. The miso soup tasted like it was one of those instant add water soups with tofu. Overall the place was right down the street from the hotel so for a quick sushi fix this place will do.

I’ve been here twice, and been disappointed twice. The first time, the rolls were so loose that everything just fell apart. The rice wasn’t flavored at all, and didn’t stick together. Just really bland and messy. Last week I finally(a year later) gave it another try. I called in a to go order and they told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. It was really 50 minutes — they didn’t start making it until I got there to pick it up. You know that beautiful shine that fresh salmon has on nigiri? There was NONE of that — the salmon was dry, flat, and clearly old. The yellowtail was better, but not worth the price. There are dozens of better, less expensive places to get sushi in the valley — don’t waste your time or money here.

Excellent reception upon entering Sushi Café. The waiters were prompt and helpful throughout the visit. The Ono Roll was flavorful with the right amount of sbow crab on top. The appetizer portion of Tuna Tataki was the perfect amount for an individual size. Ordered spicy, it seems milder than a traditional spicy, or perhaps I’m accustomed to spicy foods. In any case, it is just the right amount of spice with ponzu sauce for dipping.

Yum. I tried the rice-free cucumber-rolled spicy tuna and I would definitely order it again. If you’re talented with chopsticks that is… other wise it would be hard to eat because it is so large.

I went in n was the only one in the restaurant. I only ordered the boba slush. Best Ube(they say it’s Taro) boba I’ve had so far. They’re nice and friendly. Atmosphere seems welcoming.

The sushi here was pretty good, but service was painfully bad. Food: For the price, you’re getting pretty good sushi here. My sushi/sashimi dinner combo cost a mere $ 15, but didn’t quite fill me up. So I did what I always do in such situations: steal food from other people at the table. If you get the sushi/sashimi dinner combo, be sure to get an accompanying roll — they’re pretty cheap in the $ 6⁄7 range. One great thing about this place is that it has a pretty extensive menu — everything from sushi/sashimi, to noodle dishes and rice bowls, and a variety of Japanese cooked chicken/fish dishes. Also, they have boba, deserts, and Japanese pop. Variety is the spice of life, and this place had it. Service: Service was the real killer here. We had a waiter that forgot orders, didn’t follow up, and seemed pretty carefree. It was one of those situations where we had to repeatedly flag down the waiter throughout our dinner. I saw another table get upset with him, and just shook my head as I took other peoples’ sushi at the table.

We’re still in search of a sushi bar in Coachella Valley. Is it inconceivable to think you can find good fish in the desert or merely wishful thinking. Some of my criteria for good sushi. First, quality of the fish, should smell fresh and be flavorful. Second, quality of the rolls, must be tightly wrapped, cut hosomaki(«thin») not futomaki(«large») and rice: fish ratio is equal. Lastly, presentation for sashimi should be sliced sharp and evenly not jagged, also the sauce should compliment the taste not kill the very essence of the fish. I would not recommend the salmon skin roll or albacore sashimi. The tuna and yellowtail sushi were good. Prices are moderate, place is clean but seating at the bar is only for 10 with a wait during dinner hour.

Went over for a quick dinner. Wondering if I can tolerate Sushi anymore. Two words ” Very Good” I guess after not eating it for a year or so, I DO lo Ike it again. Anything with GINGER on it, is yummy. I can eat it raw! It’s still the very end of October so the snow birds really haven’t arrived yet. Empty tables at 6:00PM almost unheard of. Great Food. Clean Place, They even remembered us from long ago.
