Just alright. I’ve had better quality at other bbq joints. I ate around 2pm on a Monday at the bar. They had bogo drinks and I ordered the frozen margarita– it was much too sour. I odered the ribs and wing combo with mac and cheese, cornbread and sweet potato. The ribs and mac and cheese were cold, the wings and sweet potato tasted warm and fresh. I was very dissapointed with their mac and cheese because thats one of my favorite food and I’d previously enjoyed it at other Sonny’s before. But the mac and cheese that came with my order was not only cold, it was also stuck together like a big blob– it had probably been sitting out for some time. Anyways, the service was good; my waiter was nice and attentive

Service is slow and could use a lot of work Price is average for any barbecue joint Atmosphere is about the same for any bbq place Food is just average, nothing more nothing less Overall they could put a little me effort in to make it a better eatery.

Since my last review, the food quality has improved, immensely. Thank goodness! We stopped for a little BBQ and their awesome salad bar. This location is always spotlessly clean and very up-scale for a BBQ joint. I ordered their Big Deal(a sandwich, side and drink)($ 9.29) with the salad bar(which is an up-charge of $ 3.99). I opted for the sliced pork and French fries. The pork was moist, tender and awesome.(see pic) The salad bar was fine but, for some reason, they now dice their tomatoes, red onions and cucumbers. I do not like it! I prefer my veggies recognizable. The tomatoes looked like salsa. You would think that dicing the veggies would increase oxidation and thus hasten spoilage. Anyway, the salad bar was immaculate and the other items were appealing. My better half decided on the Salad Bar with a side of sliced pork.($ 11.99) The pork was also moist and delicious. After doing the math, the salad bar with a side of sliced pork plus a drink was more expense than the Big Deal with the salad bar add-on. Go figure. Yes, I’m one of those guys who does the math! Our lunch came to a little under $ 30 before tip and it was worth every nickle. If you decide to eat at a Sonny’s, I would recommend this location, without a doubt.

Went there on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. We were seated promptly and our waitress Amanda was very nice. Food came out pretty fast, we had baby back ribs and chicken bbq sandwich, both of which were delicious. Overall pleasant experience.

Ever since leaving Nashville in November, my fiancé and I have been looking for a good BBQ place to replace what we had in the area up there. Sonny’s was our first stop to try and find a replacement. And it was just ok. I have to say that we only had take out from here, so I can’t comment on the service inside at all. The different meats we got were all kind of dry. It did seem like it’s possible that the meat had been sitting around for a while. Obviously I don’t know that, but that’s the kind of taste I got from it. I find that you can judge a BBQ place based on how good their sauce is, and this place’s sauce was just eh. One was overly sweet and the other(even though it’s supposed to be spicy) had basically no spice at all. It kind of reminds me of a Famous Dave’s chain type place. So you’ll go there if you’re kind of desperate but you’re not going to be totally satisfied. Needless to say, my fiancé and I are still in search of our replacement BBQ restaurant!

Usually have great experiences here. Good was tasty, good portions, salad bar selections. Last week ordered two sweet teas to go. Unfortunately, friend drank their tea and as they were enjoying the ice, discovered a dead fly frozen in the ice chips. Yuck! No plans to return. How does a dead fly get frozen in ice chips?!?(rhetorical question). If flies are in the ice, what’s in the food?(rhetorical). Rather grossed out.

It isn’t the best but it is a place I would come back to visit. The«sweet» sauce is good but not exceptional. The«mild» is reminiscent of an Arby’s sauce; which isn’t bad if you want Arby’s. «Sizzlin» wasn’t very hot at all. Your best choice is the«Smokin’ «. It did have a nice smoke flavor to it. I had the beef brisket sandwich. The beef was wonderfully tender but lacked any smoke of its own. The«redneck egg roll» appetizer was unique and a pick. It is pulled pork, coleslaw and pepper jack cheese served with a smokey ranch dipping sauce. If you craving good BBQ, this will work. If you wanting outstanding — go to Pappy’s in St. Louis!

Gotta love those smoked wings at Sonnys! Please don’t take them off of the menu. Sliced parks was awesome too.

I was in Palm Harbor on family business mid-August. As it is custom for me when I travel I seek out BBQ places. Unfortunately, I was there at the beginning of the week and was unable to try out KC Que(Tarpon Springs), only open Fridays and Saturdays. However, Sonny’s is comparable to Famous Dave’s, another BBQ chain which I also like. The ambiance is similar. Casual dress and environment. Family friendly. Many TVs with mostly sports playing. The food is southern pit BBQ. I had the rack of baby backs with mashed potatoes and baked beans. My girlfriend had the pulled chicken, corn and sweet potato. We both thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Though I would rate Famous Dave’s higher(the nearest one is in Ft. Meyers), Sonny’s is a good second choice in the Tampa Area, so far. Until I return to try other BBQ smokehouses, this is a good meal for the money.

Very small portion on ribs. Ordered a «half rack» and got three very small, very scrawny, meatless ribs. It was a to-go order or I would have sent this back. Sonnys does some things well but for heavens sake I’d rather pay more money and get a normal portion than this tragic excuse for an order of ribs. Don’t rip us off.

The BEST bar-b-que I have ever had. The ribs are absolutely amazing! All of the sides are so good, there are too many to choose from! I also love the great choices on the salad bar. I could eat here every night! I highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area for the best bar-b-que around! The service is excellent and the restaurant is very clean and well kept. Everyone has a smile on their face when they greet you. They also have a new bar which always has something special to have with your meal, or just for a quick snack. HIGHLY recommended!

The Ribs for two are not on the menu but you can ask for them. What a great value on some of the best BBQ Ribs in North Pinellas. We were there for Mother’s Day as all Mom’s received a free salad bar. The place was packed but the staff was friendly and service moved very smoothly. One of the things we like most is drinks are 2 for 1 all the time.

Hubby loves this place. I just resort to the salad area. If you want REALBBQ, go to the BBQ stand behind the Shell gas station on US19 and Tampa road. NOW thats REALAMAZINGBBQ, with Maine lobster rolls and pulled pork, sent from your dreams.

It’s great fast-food BBQ, and their sweet sauce and garlic bread is amazing. And their giant sweet teas are great. Try the lunch specials, you get a sandwich, a fountain drink, and one side all for under $ 10, you can’t beat that. Always great for a BBQ fix.

My husband and I stopped by for an AYCE lunch, but this may have been the last time we’ll be here. I had the all you can eat sliced pork, with mac n cheese and green beans as my sides. My sliced pork came out room temperature, almost cold, and the same with my mac n cheese. Meanwhile the green beans were piping hot. On subsequent rounds of pork, each portion came out smaller and smaller. Christoph said that’s pretty much the way they do things here, but why? Then, the only time I asked for another mac n cheese, it came out burning hot. The inconsistencies in temperature really had me worried. I ended up with what seemed like a stomach bug later that night(and no, it wasn’t because of the volume of food. I’ve eaten plenty more than this and been fine), so to say the least I was a little paranoid. As far as the quality of food, it was par. Not horrible, not great, and what you’d expect from a chain BBQ joint. Our waitress, on the other hand, was excellent. She was very attentive and nice the whole time we were there, never scoffing when we would ask for another round of meat. We’ll definitely visit Sonny’s again but maybe not this location in particular. Taking bites of almost cold food and then burning hot food is just not kosher with me.

Really good food, fast, friendly service. I usually hate chain BBQ places but this one is a keeper. The sliced pork was amazing.

Quick, efficient and tasty. This was just what I wanted after my weigh in. I was able to sub out the fries for extra veggies and get my non-sweet tea. Life is good when lunch is under $ 10.

I’ve been going to Sonny’s for years. I used to go with my family at least twice a month but we stopped going for a while and I am glad I decided to stop by for some bar-b-q! On this occasion I got the pulled pork. I usually enjoy either their pulled pork or sliced pork and on a rare occasion I will get ribs. I usually don’t opt for the all you can eat when I go because I am full after one plate and don’t really get my money’s worth. The pulled pork was amazing and I topped it with my favorite Sweet BBQ sauce. They have a couple different choices of sauces but the«Sweet» one is my absolute favorite. It is probably my favorite BBQ sauce from any restaurant/store ever! I had macaroni and cheese as my side and it was very good. It is very tasty but nothing extraordinary. My favorite part about my visits to Sonny’s has to be their garlic bread. It is so delicious with just the right blend of seasonings and the perfect bread. It is always great. I also decided to try their mango tea on this occasion as I usually get diet coke, but I really felt like tea. Let me say, it was AMAZING! For this visit I went through the drive-thru as I was headed home from a long night and had a craving for bar-b-q from Sonny’s! I absolutely love the fact that they have a drive thru and it didnt take too long at all to get through. I definitely recommend Sonny’s and their drive thru to anyone looking for some delicious bar-b-q!

I’m not sure a lot of the reviews on this place are fair — maybe I’m just not a BBQ snob… I find the food to be simple and predictable – but good. The BBQ meats are nicely prepared, and there is a good selection of side items. The salad bar is very stocked too. Sonnys may not be top notch BBQ to those in the know, but the food is good and worth a try if you have never been.
