Please do not support this business. I have been there several times over a span of a couple years, and without fail they continue to have the worst customer service I have ever received. Trust me, do not waist your time or your money on this business.

Awesome, chill place. One of my two go tos in downtown Palo Alto. Open till 1 most nights, 3 on Friday and Saturday. Lemon mint is far and above the best flavor, and the hot drinks are a great mix with hookah. Unlike other reviewers I’ve never had problems with the staff, but that may be because I’m a regular and have gotten to know most of them. The owner just put in a bunch of effort cleaning and repainting, and it really seems to liven up the place.

Dirty hookahs on a number of occasions… I don’t think they have ever been cleaned. Poor lighting and bad ventilation all make for a crappy evening.

The only hookah spot in downtown Palo Alto. Honestly, I prefer a hookah spot in Redwood City, and that is based on quality of hookah and service. Most of the time I come here the service is mediocre. Some of the employees really look like they do not want to be there, and that in itself is a turn-off. They are somewhat slow to replace coals, and I find it ridiculous that non-smoking friends have to pay to sit with your group. Other than that, prices are decent and there are a few good flavors. I prefer a mix of white peach and gummi bear.

Horrible service… Illegally charge for those who are not smoking and water that isn’t bottled. Plain and simple… Do not come here. If I could give negative stars– I would.

If your like me and you look for fun places to hang out late at night, then this is a good place to go to. The place is spacious, has inside and outside sitting, but it could get hectic and busy. So if you want to get seats outside or get fast service you might want to go there a little earlier during the day. Whats amazing about this place is they close REALLY late, and by that I mean when night just starts ;)

If you really have to hookah here in dt Palo Alto amidst other places to go, get outside seating and prepare yourself for some janky hookah equipment. 1. our mouth-piece(?) connecting to the hookah broke… then the server switched out another crappy one for us. we almost thought they were gonna make us pay for it too… 2. the owner /servers look like they don’t want to be there, which makes everything a little less enjoyable 3. the ventilation system sucks… we were all so relieved to be outside after an hour, no really, it was quite stuffy. 4. their selection is not big and it’s easily a hit or miss for the flavors Tip: $ 20 for two people, you can add an extra person on that hookah for $ 4(?), BUT if you have more than three people, it’s max two people a hookah. what logic is that… we had six people so we were forced to get 3 hookahs. plus I unhappily paid the 15% gratuity added to our group.

Been here three times, each time had issues with staff. Slow to replace coals. Non-smoking friends must pay to sit with you. They also charge for water, bottled water only. Prices are now up to $ 20 for one hookah and 2 people. Doesn’t taste good! Tobacco was unexciting. Not harsh, just didn’t taste good. Only pro is it’s open very late for Palo Alto… and there’s not much in the way of competition. Unpleasant experiences which they charge an arm and leg for. Better off buying a hookah for $ 20 at Mac’s Smoke Shop down the street.

This place is… interesting. For what it is, it’s a decent spot go get some hookah. They have a wide selection of shisha flavors which is cool, but the ambiance and the employees are not the best. I’m wondering it recently changed owners, because this last time I went in, the staff there were really not that friendly. Also, it looks like the prices recently went up…$ 20 for a single hookah is pretty expensive in my book. Plus…those benches and chairs they have are so uncomfortable!

A little bit expensive, but expected, since it’s on University Avenue. I was surprised that there was no food served! That would’ve made me bump from 3 to 4 but it’s good enough. Seating is a bit weird with chairs on one side higher than the other, and from where I was sitting I ended up blowing smoke into others’ faces… not very okay by me so I was kinda restricting myself to one side :( My second visit here, and the hookah was pretty good. Just as strong as I had expected(ordered grape + mint, as suggested) but would’ve been better. The staff was very helpful and nice!

4.5 stars Yay! Open til 1am on Monday night! One hookah(~$ 20) per two people. We chose grape(the strongest, least smooth of them all), double apple(a group favorite), & lemon mint(surprisingly refreshing, considering you’re polluting your lungs. Ended up being the one we all raved about.) The staff refilled our coals for free about an hour before closing & didn’t rush us out at closing time. Thank you for the hospitality & good customer service! Thumbs up for $ 1 bottles of water(other hookah joints straight up GOUGE us on the price.) Spacious, clean, good playlist. It’s a place where you can sit, chill & smoke comfortably for a few hours. My group & I will definitely come back!

Maybe it was my lucky night who knows but the service wasn’t as bad as some of the reviews made. I thought it was a cool little spot to chill, being this was my first time trying hookah. Price was good, flavor was great & I ordered a strawberry smoothie which paired wonderfully with the hookah(DELISH!!!), I would definitely go back.

I’m kinda torn because this place is usually pretty chill. Their hookah flavors are good and they can make you flavors that aren’t on the menu like white gummy bear but for reals only 2 people per hookah? Normally I don’t mind paying it cuz businesses gotta do their thing but if you aren’t going to give me new coals after I asked every single one of your employees for new coals it’s kinda like… you are just purposely ignoring me now Vin Diesel!!! AND you add a ridiculous gratuity fee for this shitty service? AND your belly card system is down? Sigh… I’m pretty whatevers with service usually but this time… no excuses! Very sad.

I can now see why my East Bay friends make the drive out here to get quality hookah! I went on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and it was pretty chill and relaxing. Different groups of people circulated in and out, keeping the employees busy but they always managed to cater to everyone. I like how they replace your old coals with new ones free of charge and they’re very patient with you. They played Euro-pop-trance music that was inspired from our current house music trend which was cool to bounce my head to :)

Much better than any of the bars in Palo Alto! Great place to gather a group of friends(for a birthday, maybe??!) for something a little different than standing awkwardly in a place not really meant to be a bar– or worse, standing in line for just that experience! Plain flavors are $ 18, it’s $ 1.50 to mix. Their specialty flavors are $ 20, so it’s pretty worth it to just get that. Lemon mint is classic! We also tried tangerine, kiwi strawberry, and mojito… Tangerine was definitely a hit! The major drawback is that it’s insanely loud at night. It would make sense if people were dancing, but what we really like about this place is that it’s a casual and fun place to hang out and talk… Then the music made this impossible! It would also be nice if they had some bigger hookahs, maybe with two hoses! Their drinks aren’t overpriced at all, which is refreshing(pun intended) for a hookah bar. The staff is friendly, and so accomodating. Great for people-watching AND people-gathering!

Never been here. Never will. I watched 20⁄20 the other night and have discovered.. . «The owner of the Da Hookah Spot Lounge is accused of murdering his then-girlfriend Jennifer Schipsi in October of 2009 and then trying to cover up the crime by setting their rented cottage on fire.»

Hookah! Love Hookah =) Been to this place a couple of times because its in such a handy location. Atmosphere is nice– usually some kind of indian trance music in the background, dim lights, pillows and benches. The hookah itself is not bad either– not the best I’ve had but good enough for me not to complain– the prices are a bit on the higher end for hookah but we all pay a little more for convenience and location. The staff is nice but not really good at changing coals and what not. Water is free though– which is not the case in many of the hookah lounges I’ve been to. Overall a nice closer to a night out(closes at 2am on Thursdays and 3am on Friday and Saturday).

If you actually come here with the intention of chilling with some friends and smoking hookah, then sure, I guess this place is alright, but the fact that the people running this place are so anal really kind of ruins it for me. This is more of a 2.5 star review because this place is nice but… lately the guys running this place have gotten really stingy with their ‘rules’ regarding how many people to a hookah, and the fact that they force you to buy one even if you just want to sit and chill with friends. One time I walked in just to say hi to some friends, not intending to stay more than 5 minutes, but the people working just wouldn’t have it, and made us leave. Thats ridiculous — not a good way to get business! Don’t harass your customers and expect them to come back. Another thing — some of the guys that work here are super creepy; met some over at Chalk one night, and they just wouldnt leave me alone. They had a good 10 years on me(cough cough 30 somethings hitting on 21 yr olds?) So pathetic. Then the owner was convicted of arson and murdering his girlfriend. Classy. Once again, not a good way to get business.
