Have been going here for years now and have enjoyed getting my color done by Bobbie and cut by Fernando. They both are top notch and excel in their fields. Friendly, yet professional. I highly recommend them.

Had a haircut apt with Claire.
I haven’t been to this salon in about 4 years as I live over an hour & a half away.
Definitely driving the distance for the results.
Great cut, really helpful & friendly front desk staff & a return policy that puts Juut Salon to shame!

«Cynthia Rivera Rapp amazing Colorist» for dipietro Todd salons since 1993. I wanted to remind the younger generation and all those who jump ahead with the 2016 generation, that dipietro Todd started with incredible talent and in the 90’s people like Cynthia Rivera Rapp Colorist, «The rule». I know first hand as I worked with her and Jill/​Angela the receptionists at the time, Mill Valley Salon. «The year the Titanic arose».
You see, great talent is a continuum of what comes before, so, off the beaten path, one of the greatest colorists at dipietro Todd carved a path for others and has passed at a very young age, yet left a footprint for the younger generation to be as caring passionate and creative about working with people as Cynthia imagined and achieved.

I recently visited with Tanis, and I am absolutely impressed by her skill and professionalism. I came in with a very complicated hair color case after years of inconsistency, and she worked her magic. She transformed from an awful orangey-​brown to a gorgeous muted blonde. Tanis went above and beyond and spent several hours working with me. I highly recommend her!

This place is a well-​oiled machine. The salon has timing down and knows how to book stylists and colorists and assistants so that there is little waiting and patrons are escorted from station to station. Everywhere are good looking people doing hair and making other good looking people look absolutely wonderful while serving them tea and ice water with lemon slices.
Most importantly, their service is top notch. Both my color (Tanis) and cut/​style (Jordan) came out better than I hoped. Pricey, but I have to say worth it.

Completely worth it! I only go to Tanis (colorist) and Fernando (cut/​stylist) and they are both phenomenal. I would highly recommend them to anyone! I never tell Tanis or Fernando what I specifically want… I trust their judgement and I always LOVE it. I have blonde hair that has always been very long. Last time I went into the salon, I was looking for a change so Fernando cut off 8 inches and I’ve truly never loved my hair more. The cut is so sophisticated and stylish. My color always looks great, I receive multiple compliments weekly.
When I walk into the salon, I am greeted promptly by the front desk. Everyone is always very friendly and attentive. Yes, this salon is quite expensive but it is worth it. They use chemical free products, they offer complimentary blow dry service and everyone is exceptionally friendly.

Best. Haircut. Ever. Just got another haircut from Chris (diPietro Todd, Palo Alto). Wish I didn’t live so many states away from CA, because his haircuts are the best. Unfortunately, I can only manage to see him about once a year or so because of the distance. He cut and styled my hair for my son’s wedding last week, and I received so many compliments! Now that the wedding’s over, I can simply «wash and wear» with no fuss – which is exactly how I like it. Thank you, Chris!

The worst. Whitney and Rebecca suck at color. Ruined my pretty la highlights took me way too dark. Diana for cut chopped my hair off. Not okay. Don’t go here.

Claire and Bobbie are both the best! I came in needing a big change in January and could not have been in better hands. Claire has cut my sister’s hair for years, and while I am completely different from my sister, she did a fantastic job changing up my style. I now have a cute, easy to style lob that is perfect for my round face. Bobbie colored it so that the balayage is in the exact color scheme as my natural highlights and grows out so naturally that it only requires minimum touch-​up (4 – 6 months.) I couldn’t be happier, and I get so many compliments. I’ve had long brown hair my whole life, and friends tell me now that my hair cut and color matches my personality better than when I let it just naturally flow. So happy to see both of them when I get to come in, just not that often, since they gave me such a low-​maintenance do.

I love my colorist and hairstylist but am disappointed with the overall experience. The receptionists are exceptionally rude and they are the first and last point at the salon.
The blow dry stations are really poorly managed.
For a salon of such a calibre, I definitely expect a well rounded experience.

I LOVE diPietro Todd Salon. Sergio and Whitney are my go to amazing, awesome, beautiful people. I have had horrible hair cuts in the past and now I will not let ANYONE go ANYWHERE near my hair with a pair of scissors except Sergio. The way he blow drys my hair is hard to explain, it is not a complicated look or style, but exactly how I like it, no one else does it like him. When I first met Whitney I was just getting a hair cut, my boss recommended Sergio to me (I had to ask her where she went because her hair always looked so good) and Whitney was smiling and made me feel comfortable about coloring my hair. Someone before Whitney had damaged my hair with bleaching it to many times, but Whitney to the rescue! They are both artists and masters at what they do. Although, I have not tried anyone else (probably won’t try anyone else because I love these two) but my boss has tried other colorist and her color always looks great. For me though Whitney is the one! The way she paints my color is fabulous! Never met anyone like her!
Recently, they were a little backed up. I don’t mind being patient, life happens. Unfortunately, someone else blow dried my hair it wasn’t as perfect as I liked. Don’t miss understand though, the cut was perfect. When I washed my hair and styled myself I loved the cut. I told them how I felt about leaving with my hair not exactly styled as I love it and were extremely apologetic and offered me to come in another time to get a blow out. Going the extra mile to keep a customer! (I would have come back no mater what, but feels good to be appreciated)
I was very surprised to see negative reviews for this salon. I am very comfortable getting my hair washed, yes there are people around because it is busy, they are good a salon! I also have never had a rude interaction with a receptionist, maybe these people who are reviewing caught them on an off day? The receptionists have always had a smile and been very helpful. To the person who said they saw someone blow drying their own hair, there is that option if you want to. It is not them being a bad salon, some people just like doing it themselves! I recommend diPietro all the time to people and will continue! As long as Whitney and Sergio keep a slot open for me :)

Tanis for beautiful multi-​tonel color and Fernando for sophisticated, beautiful, textured cuts. It just doesn’t get better anywhere.

This is a luxury salon who should consistently execute exactly what their clients want and be willing to go above and beyond to correct mistakes, but twice I left paying luxury prices for disappointing hair and a very disappointing customer service experience. Do yourself (and your hair) a favor and go elsewhere!

Just got back from my first time here! Love it! I was a bit concerned because of the negative Unilocal reviews, but boy were they dead wrong! Everyone I met there was great. The gals at the front desk were friendly and very sweet and helpful My colorist, Tanis Steyvers, is very talented! I just love the color she concocted and so does everyone else. Her assistant was great too as was Max who did the blow dry! It’s a busy salon with lots of activity but everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcome.

Asked Sergio for a difficult men’s cut, and he nailed it. I tried three different places in MP/​PA before someone finally recommended DPT. No more searching. I’ll be going back to Sergio.

Worst haircut of my life here! Stylist probably forgot to mention they accidentally blunt cut a section of my hair in the back of my head… Not worth the $ 105 haircut fee…

I have been coming here for several years and love Seema. She always get the hair color right and is a wonderful person and a color connoisseur. However she is absolutely the only reason that I come here. The receptionist (s) are horrible, particularly the one with the black curly hair. I have complained as has everyone else who has written a review. They are in their own little world and always act as if they are doing me a favor when I call or come in. If you have two receptionists on duty, then someone should be answering the phone and the other serving customers. Worse yet, they chat and giggle to each other and then are like — ‘oh yes, can I help you with something’.
The place is falling apart and could really do with a make-​over. The hair washing chairs are so uncomfortable and old fashioned. And it is like a cattle call while getting your hair washed — people changing into the clothing covers (you have to do this yourself), the hair colorists going in and out the color closet, the outdoor entrance for the hair stylists and the bathrooms all squashed together. Nothing relaxing about getting your hair washed that’s for sure.
The prices — completely and unequivocally outrageous. When you are getting your hair done every six weeks it starts to add up. They will blow dry your hair (if they have someone available) and I have seen many a customer walk out with wet hair (probably because they don’t want to tip someone they just met 5 minutes ago). When I get my hair done I want the massage, cut, color, blow dry etc. I want to stay here– I really do. But there is so much competition in the bay area, I am afraid that I am going to start looking for some place that really wants my business. If nothing else diPietro, please get rid of the snotty receptionist. And Seema — I hate to say it. You are fabulous, but please go somewhere else and let your customers know!

I’ll be up front and honest that Di Pietro Todd is not my type of salon. I don’t ‘do’ my hair: it’s curly and does itself – when cut right. I hate blow dryers. Meaningless chatter makes me think of nails on a chalkboard.
This said, with curly hair it’s hard to find someone who knows how to cut it properly. Aside from one time*, my stylist at dPT has always had me out the door with a perfect cut. Never quite the same (that’s blah) but never anything that would add ‘what the hell do I do with this’ time to my mornings.
To my request not to blow dry? No problem. My stylist makes sure I don’t have three people asking about it – is something wrong? why not? let me just try?
To my request to just close my eyes and zone out? All is good. Maybe some more cucumber water?
*One time in the last 8 years something was off in the back. A curl had hidden or relaxed – who knows. It was off and funky. I called, was back in the chair within the hour for a 3 minute fix. No charge.
So, it’s not my type of salon as the other guys and gals seem to love the primping included. But, as the team customizes to meet the individual customers wants and needs – I guess it really is.

I’ve been coming to diPietro for about 2 years now. I first started seeing Sergio who cuts my hair and he is the absolute best. He is a perfectionist and really takes his time to make sure it is exactly what you want.
I’ve seen a couple different people for color but my go to girl is Bobbie. She has taken me from blonde to ombré, back to blonde, and ombré again, I’m pretty sure I am her most difficult client =) Bobbie is great at suggesting what will look good with my skin tone and also willing to do whatever it is I want done. I always look forward to my appointments with Bobbie, she is super sweet and we always have many laughs when I am in her chair.
I am getting married in August and will be having Claire style my hair. I had a consultation with her and she is so sweet and easy to talk to. She listened to what I wanted and also suggested some styles for me. I’ve seen some of her work and I was really impressed. I am confident that my hair will look amazing on my wedding day and I am looking forward to working with her.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for them yet! I have been coming to this salon for years and years. I have had the same colorist (Rebecca) for a good chunk of that time.
My original colorist left (medical reasons.) I had followed her to the SF salon when she went there before leaving. When she did leave, I tried their suggested replacement. HATED IT. Oh my how I hated it. Snobby (really sweetheart?), didn’t listen to what I wanted and ruined my hair. The entire SF salon has a different vibe (pretentious, city people who aren’t actually as cool as they think they are.)
I went back to the Palo Alto salon, explained what happened and they fixed it for free. And have been perfect ever since. Rebecca really listens and duplicates what I want. Not one single complaint. And I think she puts like a gazillion of different colors (highlights, low lights, tints, etc) in.
I have never had to wait for more than 2 or 3 minutes. Reading the complaints about the front desk staff — very odd. They have always been extremely friendly to me.
I need Rebecca to never leave :)
