I went to Palo Alto eyes for an eye infection. I had weekly follow up appts. and eventually bought new glasses. I regularly had them straightened there until one day when I was the girl at the desk has no clue how to do it. She bent them so badly she had to ask another worker to fix them. She said«do you have time for a fitting?» The girl said«NO!» I went across the street to Penninsula Optometry and they gladly fixed them. They also told me a few chilling stories about PA Eyes.

They seem like nice people and the service quality is good. However, this is the best place to pay 3.5x for the same good. Last time I got my glasses from there, didn’t do any price search for the frame. This time(thanks God) they didn’t have the same frame, so I had to look for different stores. Then, I liked a different frame(persol eyeglasses po 3050v), get its info and found it on the internet. Went to this Optometry again and showed the frame. They said it’s price is $ 350 and with my insurance it would be $ 175. On the online stores, it’s price varies between $ 104 – 137. Not just on one store, there are 10+ stores that sells it much cheaper than this optometry. So I told about this and they said they don’t do price matching. Just because it is located on Uni. Ave. shouldn’t give them a right to sell the same thing much more expensive.

Have gotten very good care from Dr. Most and Dr. Mattison, but enormously frustrating today to be advised — after bringing in a glasses frame(purchased there) — that they don’t have a missing screw. Staff referred me to a Redwood City glasses«repair shop» — A 24-mile round trip up 101 for a single screw?!?

Dr. Most is a great man to work with. He is professional, but definitely a character that I’d be willing to come back to again and again just for the personal feel. I traveled all the way up from SF to visit Dr. Most, and I intend to return in the future due to the quality of care.

My family and I have been seen by Dr. Most for over 20. The quality of care has been outstanding. He has been able to make recommendations for my contacts each year that prove to be more comfortable and meet my usage patterns. His is my trusted source for my eye health.

I love Dr Matterson! She has been doing my eyes for 7 years now. She caught a serious problem with my retina and has been diligent about monitoring it ever since. She always seems to have a positive attitude and makes my visits as quick and comfortable as possible. Highly recommend!

I just had my first visit here for a vision exam because I’ve recently had extremely dry eyes and trouble with my contact lenses. After seeing a cornea specialist whose office scared me with horror stories of eye infections/blindness from contact lenses, what a refreshing experience to see Dr. Most! He’s both enthusiastic and patient, and really helped me think through the options for how I can treat the dryness and balance contact and glasses use. The office staff was also amazing — the young woman who helped me pick out frames instantly«got» my taste *and* figured out how to best use my vision insurance. A wonderful experience all around — thank you!

This place seems to have gone downhill fast. Not sure if it’s me or something else going on, but . I decided to get new glasses this year for the first time in ~13 years. I spent way too much time picking out frames(the frame guy is super nice, sorry I don’t remember his name!) and ended up having to pick different ones because the ones I wanted were no longer available. First pair of glasses came and just about gave me vertigo. Was like looking through fish eye lenses and couldn’t read my phone at arm’s length. Went back to Dr. Matteson, she had them re-do the lenses with less curvature and change my prescription by 0.25 Second pair of glasses came and I couldn’t see clearly past ~15 feet away. You can see how this would be problematic when driving. Or reading. Or watching tv. Or interacting with others in a public setting. Went back to Dr. Matteson, and, amazingly, she asked what I wanted her to do about it. Because she checked my prescription and it was right. So. What should she do about it? Come again? Apparently my insurance only covers two lens creations, and then we have to pay out of pocket for any additional changes. And since I am making unreasonable expectations like ‘being able to see out of the glasses I just paid $ 450 for’, I should have to pay out of pocket for the redo. I pointed out that they had made two variable changes to the first set, and perhaps that was causing the additional problems. The super nice glasses guy called the lens company again and got them to remake them again because of the dual variable change. Third pair of glasses came. They’re fine for work. They’re ok but not great for driving during the day, but definitely not at night(I can see about 20 – 25 feet out but not a whole lot more than that). I wish I felt comfortable going back to Dr. Matteson and asking her for help with getting them right. I don’t know what to tell her she needs to do to fix them, so obviously I am out of luck. I’ll be finding a new optometrist next year.

I’ve been their patient for 10 years. They have been very helpful and have a constant focus on the health of my eyes and quality of my vision. I still keep using them even though I don’t live in the SF Bay Area.

This is my favorite so far. Love meeting Dr Matteson and her fun staff. They are professional and thourough and go out of their way to make you happy. Large selection of glasses. If you find something they don’t have and they work with the vendor. they will get it fast. Also, Ordered my glasses same day as exam and they were here in a week even with a holiday.

I’ve had 2 excellent experiences here. I had appointments with Dr. Most. Yes, he is quite a bizarre character! But, I love interesting people, so I was very entertained. And he is very knowledgeable and seems to get really excited about telling you all about the health of your eyes. The most important characteristic of an eye doctor for me is patience. I seriously hate to have anyone messing with my eyes. I am terrified of eye drops and usually squirm and hyperventilate while someone is trying to drop eyedrops in my eyes. I know it has to be done, but it gives me terrible anxiety. Dr. Most was so very patient and talked me through the eyedrops. His demeanor is very calming and relaxing. So, I am very pleased with the service and would highly recommend him.

I have been going to Dr. Matteson for about 10 years for annual exams and contact lenses. She is very competent and has a solid communication style. Contact lens orders have always come right away and been correct, so all around the service has been excellent.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Matteson as optometrist for children. My son, just recently turned 5, was seen by her for his very first eye exam. She treated him with a lot of respect and was very friendly, easy-going, and fun. She has all the tools for testing a child, even a cute video of a dog that my son watched during one part of the exam. The rest of the office staff were also great with the preliminary tests. Another great thing is that they have a machine that takes a picture of your eye and removes the necessity of those eye dilating drops. My son never would have let them put drops in his eyes, so this was perfect. Also, while we waited for our appointment, there was a selection of toys near the window that my son was able to play with. I thought that was a nice touch and made the time go by quickly. Last, but not least, children get to choose a toy from a box at the end of their visit. Kids love that sort of thing and my son is no exception. Actually, he loves what he got and can’t stop talking about it :) It was an altogether pleasant experience and I definitely recommend Palo Alto Eyes.

I have been wearing glasses all my life. I started going to Dr. Most for four years now, everyone in their office is professional and nice. I got my last pair of glasses there – prada at a great price. They have a nice selection of glasses of all brands.

I moved to California in 1993 and needed a local eye doctor(i’ve had glasses since I was 6) and was also interested in finally trying to get contacts. I walked down the street and into Dr. Matteson’s office and she(and her husband, Dr. Most) have been my docs every since!(and she was able to fit me for soft contacts which I have been grateful for, every day since!) They are warm, kind, and professional and never make you feel badly if you have to come back in for an adjustment or change to a newly-filled prescription(it doesn’t happen often, but over the course of 17 years, stuff happens!) I don’t think i have the same –anything– from 1993, but every year or two when i need new glasses or my contact lens Rx renewed, I take great comfort in knowing that Dr. Matteson(or her husband, Dr. Most) will be there and take care of me.

Dr. Most is quite the unique character. That notwithstanding, I’ve been seeing him for several years now, and I’ve found him to be a rigorous, complete, and careful optometrist. The exams have been very professional and he has been willing to explain any concerns we’ve had about the health of our eyes. The front office has also provided great service — for example, they brought in several frames that they did not carry directly from the manufacturers when we expressed an interest in them. During the entire process, they kept us apprised as to their arrival date and when we could be able to go in and see how the frames actually looked.

Dr Most is a very good optometrist. I highly recommend him. The other side of his business, selling and SERVICING glasses is really in dire need of improvement. Once you buy a pair of glasses, even really expensive ones, the after sale service is poor. I bought a pair of 600 dollar(with Rx lenses) Marchon Titanium rimless glasses and the nosepiece broke immediately. They replaced it and the next one broke immediately. I kept telling them it was a defective design and that they should exhange it or give a refund but they werent buying it. Once my warranty was up the nosepiece broke again and they wanted to charge me $ 125 for a new one(which would of course be equally defective). I looked on the Internet and there were numerous blog entries about defective Marchon Flexon nosepieces. They should have gone to bat for me but they didn’t. Also they use cheap fasteners. The nuts ALWAYS work loose. I went to a high end optometry shop in Seattle and they retrofitted all my substandard lens fastening nuts with nylon insert nuts that NEVER come loose. Go here for an eye exam, but go elsewhere for glasses. They dont stand behind their products at all and toss you to the wind after your warranty expires. If they want to do right by me i’ll revise my review, but I am not holding my breath.

My six year old was in the market for his first pair of glasses, so we stopped in here over the weekend to browse their frame selection(already had the exam and prescription covered). They had 22 kids’ frames on display this weekend… an okay starting point, though we did ultimately go elsewhere for a broader selection. So we didn’t have an extensive experience here, but I’d like to round up for these guys for two reasons:(1) the gentleman who was working this Saturday(I’d guess Dr Most) provided very nice customer service and made us feel welcome even though my boisterous crew did not fit in with his other patients that day and(2) they had a good-sized bin of cars and other toys for their youngest patients and visitors.
