Best eyelash extensions deal in town. $ 70 for a full set, less than half of what other places charge. It’s still in Palo Alto. Don’t be discouraged by the ambiance, Mindy does a better job than any of the fancy salons. 15 years of experience and pretty fast. Refills can be every 3 weeks at $ 40 or $ 50 depending on how much needs to filled.

The staff was too busy on the phone helping someone on the phone. Sat here for 15 minutes while they just chatted on the phone. Thought I would get my eyebrows done quickly since no one else was being helped.

Very nice and satisfying haircut and wax experience. My wife and I have found a new stylist we definitely recommend.

I asked for a simple trim of my shoulder length hair. It became a really strange, mullet-​looking thing on my head. Needless to say, I’m not coming back.

I got my eyebrows waxed and they turned out great. Only 4 stars because $ 12 is a little pricey for me, but otherwise she did a really good job. She really took her time plucking every stray hair. I would definitely come back.

Mindy is really sweet and friendly, but she did not do my hair justice. I had damaged hair from a bad bleach job. I looked terrible and felt awful about it. The first time I went to her, she complained about its bad condition for most of the appointment, but fixed it up nonetheless. It was still too early for me to tell whether or not she was a good stylist. I figured 3 trips would be a fair, round number to suss that out, as my fried hair would be mostly grown out by then.
Late June was try #3, and I think I’ll find a new stylist. To start, it was an early appointment and she was a half hour late. Even worse, for the past few weeks, I’ve walked around with one side of my hair an inch longer than the other. When she styled it last time, she gave it a lot of body and curled the ends under, making the length issue harder to see. I mentioned it seemed uneven before I left and she insisted it was right but trimmed a few bits off anyway. It was far from enough, which I didn’t realize until I styled it myself later on.
She did well with dyeing my hair, her prices are very good for the area and she takes walk-​ins! … but I would not recommend her to anyone for a cut. Full-​stop.

This was the best waxing experience I have ever had and the price was awesome for the area. After calling all of my regular waxing spots and not being able to get in I found Smart Look on google and called at 6:30pm on a Thursday. I didn’t expect to be able to get an appointment but not only was I able to get an appointment but the owner, Mindy, stayed open late just so I could come in. That in itself say a lot about a place. I had an upper leg and bikini wax and she gifted me a lip wax. The experience was remarkably painless (I have had a lot of waxes cheap and expensive and have never commented on them being painless) and the bikini wax was very thorough with only a bit of tasteful hair left behind. Any other place this would be considered an extensive bikini but here it was the norm. All this for $ 50 so the previous comment about a $ 50 lip wax was way off. It’s not a fancy spa but if you want to pay more than twice as much just for dim lights and babbling brook sounds that’s your prerogative. I will be back for more waxing and my husband is going for a haircut next week.

for the price in downtown palo alto/​area, you can’t beat it.
easy to get in with little or no lead time. Friendly enough staff. have always had a pleasant and enjoyable experience. The place isn’t very nice but your not paying for a nice place, so you have to be okay with that. Definitely good value and has been my go to spot for sometime now. head massage with wash is a nice touch!

Mindy who runs Smartlook is great. My whole family goes there. We have been going to Mindy even before she started this Salon. She is excellent! She loves what she does and pays attention to everything. Very very reasonably priced for the location.

I just called this place and they wanted to charge me $ 50 for a lip wax! WTF!!!

Solid men’s haircut. Reasonably priced and a great location in downtown Palo Alto. Also, a nice head massage during the shampooing.

Minndy is the best, she gives great haircuts and is always willing to work around my schedule. I would highly recommend her for a men’s haircut.

I passed this place all the time because I work a block away, and one day I decided to check it out. Unfortunately I didn’t catch the name of the woman at the front desk but she had me in and out of there for waxing in no time at a super reasonable rate. She was extremely friendly and precise. A great find! I would definitely return/​recommend this place.

I got eyelash extensions there. They didn’t look right and they starting falling out within 2 days :/​it was a huge waste of money. Never again.

I have been going to this place for Eyelash extensions and Waxing for almost a year now and Mindy is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST (in both eyelash services and Eyebrow waxing) and the FRIENDLIEST! She charges me very reasonable price so all the services here are nicely done but extremely affordable.
Love her so much and I am really sad that i am leaving the Bay Area.

For threading only– worst threading experience of my life. She told me I had ‘thin skin’ but really she doesn’t know how to thread properly. I have been getting threading for 10 years, and never had so many cuts. She is very slow and inexperienced.
