Buccaneer Hotel

My husband and I went to this place for dinner last night. The view is nice, but the food, it turns out, is not.
There was only 1 server working, so I know she was having a hard time keeping up with everything. But, she was very unresponsive to problems we were having. We both ordered martinis and they were awful! So when she came back with our appetizer, we told her. She asked if we wanted to order something else. My husband did. She delivered the wrong drink, but he drank it anyway. We ordered BLTs. The menu said it was extra to add cheese, so we didn’t order that. They put it on anyway. We didn’t realize this until after we had paid. They also charged us for the awful drinks and charged us $ 1 each for water!!! We never got the water, either! The bar was very busy, so we did not go back to ask for a manager, but we will never eat there again. And the BLTs weren’t very good, either.

When we entered our room it reeked of some chemical smell. We assumed they put new carpet in recently but the smell seemed carcinogenic. Yuck. The location was great. They were having a fishing tournament so it was pretty busy.
They have their own bar & grill with live music which was cool. We walked in & waited to be seated (or even acknowledged). A teenage guy walked up & told us he’d «let them know» we were waiting. He came back a few minutes later to tell us to sit wherever we’d like. There was a nice outdoors area overlooking the water. We searched for a table that wasn’t littered with beer cans & after we gave up we decided to sit inside. We found a seat close to the bar where the staff could see us (Just in case, since they didn’t seem too observant). While we sat waiting, we noticed the table was sticky, wet, and still had rolled up straw wrappers on it. We gave up & left without ever being acknowledged. There were three girls working who walked to & fro giggling.
When we made it back to our room the band was so loud we could here them while trying to sleep. We agreed that we’d need 10 margaritas (each) to be able to tolerate another night.
2.5 stars mostly because the price $ 119 was better than most other craptastic hotels in the area.

Pretty good food. View is unbeatable for Panama City. I live just about a mile and a half from there and the atmosphere is very casual. Looks like a dive from the outside but no better view in town so far to me.
