Terrible food, instant potatoes. At a place I thought was home made. Save your $$ and cook at home. Service was great though

Myself and 6 of my coworkers stopped In for lunch today… We all love good home cooking, southern restaurants and thought we would give it a shot … We were told upon being seated that there were only 2 waitresses for the entire restaurant … I’m assuming she told us this so our expectations wouldn’t be too high…& she was right… I had the chicken fried chicken that tasted like it was microwaved … One of my co workers ordered catfish and couldn’t even eat one filet… The service was obviously slow and on top of the bad food… The waitress was un personable… I love trying new places to eat I’ve never been… But I can confidently say I won’t be trying this one again. I gave 2 stars because at least the rolls were tasty.

My wife and I are always looking for places to stop for breakfast on the weekends and we’d never tried First Dixie Café. Super breakfast menu with all our favorites listed. Breakfast was served and prepared perfectly and service and brisk and very cordial. We will be back to dine again real soon.

Had brunch and was very disappointed. Food was decent, but service was HORRIBLE!!! Waited 15 minutes before our order was taken, server wasn’t friendly, food was decent, never was checked on after received food. Had to wait 20 minutes to get to go container and check. Waited 10 minutes at cash register to pay. It appears the staff like to hide in back kitchen and ignore customers. Very disorganized place. Won’t go back

After passing the First Dixie Café numerous times I figured I would give it a try; bad decision. I guess I should have realized that when I saw 10 people in the restaurant during lunch time. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and fried okra. I received my order in about 15 minutes, which I thought was reasonable. unfortunately, I rarely saw the waitress. I found a meatloaf to be so salty that I needed to order a drink refill, but was unable to find anyone to help me. I finally asked someone passing by for a refill. No one ever came by to give me a bill until I started to walk toward the front counter. I found the entire experience to be unsatisfactory and doubt that I will ever return again.

Service slow and quasi-surly. Nothing came out at the same time, including food on the same order. Second time we’ve eaten there with the same result. Omelet Was very tasty, but fellow dinners didn’t finish theirs because of the taste Was really looking for a new breakfast place in Arlington. This won’t be it.

We wanted a place for a quick lunch while out running errands. We drive by this spot all the time and thought«what the heck, let’s try it!». A regrettable decision. We should have left before we ordered, the flies all over the place were not only gross they were harbingers of what was to come. I ordered a grilled ham and cheese with fries. Just a standard sandwich which in my mind is hard to screw up. But when you use thick, fatty ham steak; plastic cheese food; and globs of margarine to fry the sandwich… well than it’s easy to screw it up I suppose. Adding insult to injury there was a pile of trash at the register when we finally went to pay. A dirty, crushed Styrofoam container and a empty coffee cup with rainwater and mosquitos in it. WTF??? Oh, and they had no pies today. Which in my mind means maybe they don’t make them onsite, since it was a holiday. Perhaps the bakery they use was closed? So…we won’t be back.

Well we tried this place again and nothing has changed. Still very poorly organized and run. We walked in and added our name to a waiting list and sat down to wait. I watched as people walked in and were immediately seated. We were a party of 2. So we got up and asked to be seated again and were right away. Our waitress asked for our drink order and then we never saw her again until she brought us the check before our food came. Thankfully another staff member took our order and brought us our drinks. It took 40 mins for our pancakes and French toast to come and the restaurant wasn’t that crowded. This is just so poorly run and managed. We won’t be back.

HORRIBLE service! We were sat, got our drinks then waited 15 min for our order to be taken. 6 table were occupied and all of them were eating. After our order was taken and our food delivered we never saw another waitress again. Well I did see then, talking to each other in the drink station basically ignoring everyone in the restaurant. If you like luke warm powered eggs, cheap bacon, tuff pancakes and HORRIBLE service go here! Dear Owner, take heed. Your staff is killing your business and your food is awful, and it seems no one cares.

Never again, while the waitress was nice and somewhat attentive the food was totally bland. I had a chopped steak with onions, the steak had zero seasoning on it and onions were burnt. My sides were coleslaw that was a bit of cabbage with lots of cream sauce and again zero seasoning and overcooked greens right out of a can. The waitress said she couldn’t handle the money to pay for this horrible meal and I would have to pay at the front, although when I went to pay I had to wait for several minutes while the person who I assumed was the owner sat in a chair talking on a cell phone as the waitstaff argued. Well you live and learn.

This is my last time coming to this restaurant. Service is horrible. This has been my experience last few visits but today was worse. There were 4 other tables besides mine that were occupied and 3 waitresses standing around the kitchen area either staring at customers, talking to each other or talking on their cell phones instead of providing decent service. They weren’t busy at all so no excuse. No one ever brought me a ticket when I was done. After I waited 10 minutes I went to counter and waited. Finally waitress came over, gave me a receipt to sign and walked off before I signed receipt without saying a word to me.

I may have found my favorite breakfast place in Arlington! Very casual café with a huge menu. Specials for over 55. Small appetite plates, which is always appreciated by us smaller people. How to eat healthy here: get a veggie skillet with extra veggies, NOHASHBROWNS(those carbs will make you FAT!), scrambled egg whites and yes you can enjoy the cheddar cheese on top, because cheese, in limited quantities, is good for you. Get a side of fruit instead of pancakes or bread(again, no carbs or grains). MARKMYWORDS: Some day restaurants are going to catch on and start offering low carb options instead of low calorie or low fat options because science has discovered that it’s the carbs that are causing obesity and diabetes. Something else I like about this restaurant is what I read in their menu. They get their produce from local farms. Wow! Love it.

Stopped in for a solo dinner and in need of comfort food on a crummy rainy day. I was also delaying the inevitable… a trip to Walmart to stock up on everything imaginable! I was greeted and seated right away and ordered coffee, which was again hot and fresh. I couldn’t decide between the chopped steak dinner, the patty melt or the Reuben but luckily, my server steered me towards the Reuben! Yum. One word. Yum! Seriously a very delish and solid sandwich. Dark pumpernickel or rye bread(I don’t even know if they are different or interchangeable words) with an amazing buttery, crispy crunch. May have had a little garlic thrown into the mx, but whatever it was, it worked. Not overpacked …(corned beef, not pastrami, I believe) so you could really appreciate the flavor of the meat. A light layer of sauerkraut, ample melty gooey cheese and the most amazing homemade 1000 island dressing I have had in a LONG time. Fries were typical, but next time I would try a different side… or maybe just a salad, swimming in their delicious dressing! My served told me all of their salad dressings are homemade. I just checked their Facebook page and saw they have dessert! WHAT? Dessert and I missed it? Wow, must go back again. And probably again! Even more impressive was the gent who had replied to my first review came up, introduced himself and remembered me… wow…good service. One tip for the owners… can you please fix your website because all of the deliciousness of your menu is not defined! I had no idea you served alcohol because baileys in my coffee would have made my impending trip to Wally much nicer! Also, on the nitpicky side, I would suggest lowering the lights as it has a bit of a cafeteria feel to it, which I doubt is the ambiance for which you are aiming! I cannot wait to bring my hubby. He is a pescatarian and I saw crab eggs Benedict AND lobster and eggs for options for him! Please tell me those are real! Stop by for some good food and see what you think! See you there!

I hate to give a bad review because I want them to succeed but we have tried over 4 times. Service is not good but usually the good food makes up for it. Not today. Waffle was not totally cooked & meatloaf was tasteless. Had to wait on the syrup to arrive at the table. By this time, the waffle was cold and runny. Asked for pancakes instead. Cutting them required a knife. We never got refills and asked 2 people for our bill. I love their Greek omelet but this was probably our last try.

The food is good BUT… today was my 4th time going to this place and waiting 20 – 30 min for my «to-go» order that I had previously called in. I work nights and call my order in when I get off at 7am, it really sucks to have to wait that long after working all night. Also they forgot my pancakes and I’m trying to call them but nobody is answering. I’ll stick with Rise and Shine.

Second time coming here after church on a Sunday. Food is good, but the service is really slow. Was here last Sunday 7÷20÷2014, and they said they were short a cook. Been an hour so far this visit, and food is still not on the table yet.

My second time to visit. This time with my wife on Sunday at 1:30pm. We were reluctant to stay because the joint was full. But stayed nonetheless. This place does must be in Pantego. The water was is really bad. I mean really bad. Another reviewers wrote that the tea tasted off and I think it’s because of the water. My wife confirmed that her tea also tasted a bit off. OK. Our very eager waitress put the wrong info in the computer. As a result we got our corned beef came out when we were pretty much done with the meal. No problem. My wife’s Greek omelette was very good. The hash browns were not cooked enough for our liking, but they weren’t greasy. Overall, not a bad meal. Service was good. Our waitress was great. I would give it four stars, except the water is terrible.

After a loooonnngggg hour of non-stop swimming, I found myself seeking sustenance. Luckily, there was a restaurant called the First Dixie Café. The service was better than most, and I found myself warming up to the waiter. First Dixie Café is a quantity vs. quality place. The skillet breakfast, while delicious, was pretty small. I recommend getting the burger. It’s really yummy, and filled me up. But don’t get the soup. It’s really watered down, and obviously canned.
