Wow, what a find and so peaceful even though there are two busy streets(Lincoln and Tatum) that border this park. I didn’t realize that cacti made a sound barrier or maybe it was the way the park was designed. Whatever. It works. The sidewalks are quite bright, so bring your sunglasses to enjoy your time here, particularly in the summer(you could fry an egg on the sidewalk, you know, AZ heat and all). And, if you have forgotten what the Arizona flag looks like, it is flying just beneath the U.S. flag. The more than life-size Barry Goldwater statues are quite impressive, and lots of flora to enjoy. You will also probably have the whole place to yourself, we did. Depending on which way you approach this park when driving, it can be a little tricky finding the entrance but don’t do anything too stupid because there are traffic cameras everywhere around here!

This is a very well maintained, though somewhat small park, which clearly had a great deal of thought that went into the cactus and other plant selections. It is peaceful and very beautiful The late Senator worshiped just down the road at Christ Church of the Ascension and lived nearby. Viewed through a strictly non-political lens, Barry Goldwater was every bit a frontiersman. His hundreds of photos taken from the turn of the last Century, celebrate Arizona as anything I know. His wilderness trips into the Grand Canyon, Sedona areas and much more, make him every bit a Renaissance man. Enjoy this small piece of green space, set aside for a multi-dimensional Arizonian. original.

This is a really cool if super tiny park nestled in what I consider the heart of Paradise Valley — right on the corner of Lincoln and Tatum. This place isn’t really easy to find — there’s only one entrance, basically you have to be going north on Tatum from Lincoln and it’s on your right. I give it five stars even though it’s really tiny because it has great landscaping, terrific views, and a cool concept. Every time I’ve been here there’s no one else there, plus it’s just barely secluded enough from the street that it almost feels like a fortress of solitude. I’m really excited about taking my little niece here for a photo shoot sometime — the landscaping and mountain views should make it a winning backdrop.
