This is specifically about their billing practices… I have good insurance; it covers most general office visits minus the co-pay, which I pay at time of service. I generally don’t get another bill, just a statement from my insurance company showing what was paid. Recently I started going to a doctor in Orland, who is great, but the office is affiliated with Chico Immediate Care. Evidently their billing is all done through some terrible behemoth centralized third party accounting firm that doesn’t know how to do anything but send bills directly to a forth party collection service so they don’t have to deal with actually doing their job. I recently got a letter on the 10th, that was dated the 4th to pay a bill in full or else. I have never, not once receive another bill, a single phone call or statement regarding this visit, which took place about 6 months ago. Not one. They stated: We have contacted you repeatedly in effort to resolve your past due balance but you have not responded. We expect payment in full within 10 days or legal pursuit of payment will be necessary. Please contact our office to make payment by phone… I remind you that we are already 6 days into the 10 day period when I actually received the letter. Oh, by the way, this a certified letter I had to sign for, which is sent to my house, during the day, when no one is home, because we are at work. The post office closes at, so I had to take time from work to go and get it… I called the number several times over a couple of hours(again, work time). When I finally got an answer and started to explain the situation to the pleasant but obviously indifferent girl who answered the phone, I could hear her eyes glossing over. I shut up and paid my $ 40. My point is that their system appears to be intentionally set up to fail. It’s a complete disaster of communication breakdowns. No one anywhere, between the patient and the doctor care about anything. They don’t care about the doctor’s reputation. They don’t care about the patients care or concerns. They don’t really even care about actually collecting the money. I don’t know what their goal is. It’s almost like its whole point is simply to cause anger, frustration, and confusion for its own sake.

I’ve been to Intermediate care several times. They have Horrible communication. They forgot to set up an appointment for me to see a specialist after a week. I called to find out about the appointment all they could do was apologize for the mistake. Leaving me to sit and wait longer to have my arm checked out. When I went in for the second visit they had me sign paperwork but never mentioned that they had me set for a return visit but never said a word to me. There response was I signed the paper work. There’s very long wait times. I’ve waited as long as three hours to seen. On one visit I had a 15 conversation with the doctor about being allergic to penicillin. She still ended up prescribing me something with penicillin in it. The pharmacist refuse to fill the prescription and had to call the doctor to prescribe me something different. I wish I could use a different provider but it work comp and I don’t have a choice.
