this place is awful. the only reason they’re in business is because there isn’t a korean restaurant within half hour of this place. also, they’re not racist. they’re just assholes

this place is closed recently, any one knows the reason? food was good, authentic enough for the area, not having to go to palisades park/fort lee for korean food.

The restaurant is spacious and the layout of seats and tables are good so you don’t sit too close to the next table. The appetizers were ok, mainly vegetables, nothing fancy. I had beef tofu stew which was ok. Sushi was not impressive. We also ordered a dish of spicy squid. Not cheap but spicily delightful. The wait staff was trying to be helpful but a bit rude to refuse us when we ask for more appetizers. It seems that there aren’t many options for food in this neighborhood. So this is the place to eat where it’s ok and when you’re too lazy to drive somewhere else.

Pine Hill is quite close to my office, so I eat here for lunch pretty often. It’s a decent option in the area — not the greatest Korean BBQ ever, but not bad either. The selection of sides is good, and there are always plenty of options. I like to order the bulgogi box or california roll box for lunch — for just $ 10 you get all the sides, edamame, salad, chicken wings, and sushi, in addition to whatever main entrée you order in your box. It’s a great value. Their Korean BBQ is good too, my only complaint is that their meat is quite fatty. The restaurant really doesn’t have anything in the way of atmosphere, but it’s clean and it’s fine and the service is always attentive. Overall, if you’re looking for something different in Paramus, Pine Hill is pretty good.

The food at Pine Hill is really not all that great compared to the Korean restaurants in Fort Lee or Palisades Park. The side dishes are underwhelming, often featuring iceberg lettuce and ham, and the bibimbap isn’t even as good at the one served on Korean Air Economy. And yet I keep coming back, and it’s one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The location is pretty weird. It’s right across from the Pine Hill golf course(and I guess it used to be the official restaurant for it, because there’s golf-themed frosted glass all over the place), and it’s surrounded by trees and greenery so it feels sylvan and rural, even though it’s right on a busy road. It’s definitely not where you’d expect to find a Korean restaurant. Even weirder: the service is helpful and genuinely friendly! The service at every other Korean restaurant I’ve ever been to has been aloof, if not stand-offish, but here they’ll get excited if you seem to enjoy something and they’ll teach you about Korean food if it’s your first time. It’s clean and pleasant and reasonable, especially for lunch, when it’s populated by Korean businessmen efficiently polishing off bibimbap and bulgogi specials. I find myself here often.

I visited Pine Hill for a late lunch on my way back to the airport. Despite it being only 2pm, the Sushi Chef had already left for the day, so my attempt to order sushi was futile. Instead, I ordered an edamame appetizer and shrimp tempura appetizer along with the lunch special of a Bulgogi Box(yes, I was starving). Edamame was fine. Shrimp Tempura was extremely salty. Together, these would have warrented a 3 out of 5 star effort. Next the box shows up. First thing I notice is that the box includes edamame in it. Why would the waitress not have mentioned this when she took my order, I really don’t know. Having said that the edamame in the box were cold and felt like they were sitting in a fridge all day. As for the«main» dish of Bulgogi… I could fit all of the Bulgogi on 2 fork-fulls. Less than 3 oz. of meat. And the meat that was given was not warm, and was tasteless. In addition, the box included 2 pieces of a california roll, some seaweed salad, and some rice. The waitress did not ever come back to check on me, despite me being the only table in the restaurant at the time. In fact, when I looked, she was sitting down in a chair by the door. Overall, this was a bad $ 25 lunch. I would not reccomend this place.

If you don’t want to drive to palisade park, pine hill is a very good choice for people who likes Korea food, The service is super good, the moment you sit down in the table, the green tea and menu is coming and their service always very efficiency. They provide Korea and Japanese food. lunch special is also very good deal, it cost about ten dollars and include those little dish. Super good service plus the delicious dish, that is the best one of Korea restaurant I like to visit in Paramus area.

Food is good… for lunch I would say price vs. portion is very good. However you have to enjoy Korean food to really enjoy this place. If you like all the little items that come inthe small dishes like the kim-chi then you will find the lunch menu is well worth it. Staff is Korean along with cook which makes for more authentic food. Not the best I have ever had but if you ar ein the Paramus area then this is the best you are going to get.

This place I love and the soups are great! The sushi is also good. The Bulgogy was not that good compared to like K town but this place is still not bad.

Decent option without trip to Clifside park. Known for very fast lunch service. Looking at Oriental majority among clientele it must be decent. I liked Korean version of Sushi salad. Bulgogy(BBQ) came cooked and did not good enough for me to try, while i’m a big fan.

I love Korean food and I have frequented the best of the best in Pal Park/Ft Lee/Cliffside. Pine Hill is so great for anyone who lives in western bergen Co because great Korean food is to be had right here in our own back yard! I find the staff kind and helpful. I just love their Kalby! Shabu Shabu always rocks – and I’m always up for a Bento Box at lunch time. Mind you, Pine Hill is not as fancy as some of the places up on the Palisade, but for the price and the convenience, this place is my first choice now whenever I get the taste for some kimchi! And there is plenty ‘o ban chan to satisfy the palette! I can’t wait for my next visit!

Very interesting place. You really have to like Korean BbQ in order to appreciate Pine Hill. The sushi is very good but I was not a fan of the fish dishes.

Ok. Those people who rate this restaurant 4 or 5 stars probably have not been to the better restaurants in the Palisades Park, NJ area. To those people: drive the extra 15 – 20 minutes and experience Korean food there, because this place doesn’t even reach a bogey. Had to put in that golf reference bc it’s close to Paramus Golf. First things first, let me say, I’m a Korean American, so I am totally qualified to review Korean food and service since I’ve experienced it my whole life. Now onto the food. The food is OVERPRICED and of AVERAGE quality. Portions are small and they really skimp on giving you banchan, those side dishes Korean restaurants are known for. I’ve done take out numerous times in which I ordered 3 or more dishes and they just give one order of banchan. Even if I ask for more, they skimp. WHATTHEHECK? They give the same amount of banchan for one order as for three, which makes no sense as the other Korean restaurants in Pal Park don’t do this. I’ll be honest, I’m writing this review because I was ticked off about it. As for their main entrees, I wouldn’t say they are great. They’re ok… many are saltier than they should be, and portions are AGAIN sub-par. Once again, get onto Rt. 4 East, drive the extra 15 min to Pal Park and experience some REAL Korean food. It’s definitely worth it. TRUSTME.

Over priced for food offerings and quality. I had nearly everything on the menu. The sushi is not fresh, and you can definitely tell since it’s lost it’s sheen of moister, that it has been left out too long. The size of fish used for the sushi, is slightly smaller than standard. The quality of sushi fish they use is also below standard, where you barely can see the fat lines of any of the sushi fish. Their Korean BBQ is given in small portions and meats are not fresh. Their soup noodles are highway robbery since they barely give three mouthful of noodles in the bowl. The service is decent if you speak Korean, or if you don’t understand Korean. You see, I speak, and understand Korean, but I’m not Korean. If you speak with them in Korean, they are well pleased. If you don’t let on that you know Korean, they do talk behind your back to their other co-workers, but give you good service while serving you. Their Bento(Lunch Box) offerings are skimpy. Much of the box space is offered to the salad. Hope lettuce fills you. There is ample parking space in their private lot. The free Korean appetizer offerings are typical of any Korean eating establishment, which is what saves this place from a 1 star rating. Best fill yourself on these appetizers if you find yourself here by obligation. Bottom line, there are far better and available Korean establishments in the area. Why bother coming unless you were suckered here?

Its been a couple of months since our last visit but we felt a disconnect since we walked in. New service staff which was slow to attend to our table, the ban-chan didnt look fresh and lastly a language barrier amongst Koreans! PS: Customers should be careful walking out of the Men’s Restroom that there’s a likely chance a Waiter/Waitress is going to collide with you as they walk out of the Kitchen carrying food. I was knocked down on my visit today and was knocked down on my last visit. If anyone has an appetite for Korean BBQ in Bergen County, NJ its best to go to Fort Lee or Palisades Park. The ultimate experience would be to visit KTown in NYC

What an experience… in summary. In a good way! I was visiting a friend coming back home for spring break and he was craving Korean, unfortunately there we no Korean places near my house so I headed towards him. We arrived at the restaurant during peak dinner hours, but we were greeted by the entire staff at the door«An nyoung ha seh yo!!» Felt a little embarrassed, but felt like kings! Haha We looked around and the place was completely empty. Good? Bad? We’ll find out! We sat down and the wait staff quickly had tea on our table. We ordered and literally within a minute the small dishes were on the table and within another few minutes our bbq was out, closely followed by our soon du boo. I didn’t expect it to be that fast, but that made me happy. The wait staff actually cooked out meat for us and as she was doing that she was also refilling our small dishes as the same time. Such great service. I have zero complaints about the food. I thought everything was good and well prepared. Bottom Line: Prices are a tid bit steep, my friends and I ordered 2 orders of bbq and a soon du bu and it came out to $ 80 bucks including tip/tax. A lot, but with the service we got, worth it. Do take into consideration that my fellow Unilocaler’s reviews are almost a year old! This was my first visit here, but possible change in management? Or chef? Check it out! I think this has to be one of the best experienced I have had at an asian restaurant. Service was two thumbs up, food two thumbs up as well, and being Taiwanese, we found out our waitress spoke some Chinese when she had a Korean accent, odd, but AUTHENTICITY much?! Haha I’d give it another try, or go when the place is dead! 7PM Monday night haha. PS I think they have just started delivering and don’t let the exterior fool you. it’s full out asian once you get inside.

I’ve gone here 2 times on the account of it being conveniently located on the way back from church, but I would definitely NOT go out of my way to go here. If you have no other options, then it’ll do, but I’ve definitely had better, and I can’t say either the food or the service is anything to write about. They did give enough banchan(Korean side dishes) that satisfied me. I had the galbi tang and the yook gae jang which were mediocre — not bad, not good. In both cases, I was strongly craving Korean food because it had been awhile, so I was content with what Pine Hill gave me. If you have any experience with Korean food, don’t expect anything great from Pine Hill. It’ll just do. Pricing is a tad bit expensive for the quality of the food, but it’s nothing that should deter you too much from going here if you really want Korean food.
