I have used Florida Home Theaters Plus twice. The first time was 18 months ago when I moved into my then new house. Brian and Tim charged for 10 hours(2 person rate) work to do the following: *Unbox and mount a 55in Plasma TV *Install and wall mount a 5.1 Polk Audio /Niles theater speaker system including dropping wire from the attic and cutting the ceiling for the flush mount rear speakers. *Install outdoor speakers — Polk Audio Atrium. *All necessary wiring. Because I didn’t know Brian(and because I don’t trust many people in South Florida), I requested we go to the professional store where I could pay for the speakers for which he needed an advance. Brian went out of pocket and bought the Denon receiver, HDMI cables, surge protector, mount, among other things. Overall I am very happy with the experience the first time. They came in the morning and left at night. 5 stars. The second time was at the end of 2012. Brian charged a total of 8 hours(1 person rate) to do the following: *Unbox and mount a 55in LEDTV on an outside wall. *Install and wall mount two new Martin Logan bookshelf speakers sold to me way below cost. *Wire and Install KEF flush mount ceiling speakers in my Master Bathroom. *Install volume control in the bathroom. *All necessary wiring. The second time was not as smooth. Rather than have Brian buy the necessary items, I did it myself in order to save a few bucks. Like before, I purchased my TV from Costco(great) as well as the wall mount, but this time I found a refurbished receiver on Ebay cheaper than Brian could give me a new one. Unfortunately, the receiver I bought was faulty with a blown zone 2. I had to have a new one sent to me, a process which took several weeks because of the Christmas and New Year holidays. Subsequently one of the bathroom speakers had a blown tweeter which took several weeks for a replacement. Overall, because of the multiple issues, busy schedules due to Super Bowl, etc. to get it all perfect took nearly 2 months. But here is the good news: Brian did not charge me additional labor for the troubleshooting nor did he try to cheat me in any way. Most other installers would smell blood in a situation like I was in(halfway completed installation and faulty equipment). Overall, I will give 4 stars for the second experience. I highly recommend Florida Home Theaters Plus. Brian and Tim have high integrity, which is very important to me when I let people into my house. I think their strength is teamwork as I noticed better results when both were working together versus individually. I recommend you allow Brian to handle things like purchasing the Receiver and Speakers since he is an expert and authorized dealer for many top quality brands. This is a high end installation company so my suggestion is be very clear with what you want, where you want it, so that there is no confusion and the job can go as smooth as possible. I would use them again for my planned theater room extension or if I buy a new house.

I used Florida Home theatre Plus to install my TV and my surround sound. I found them completely unprofessional and they did not do things to code which pose a risk to me and my house. I am writing this review so anyone who has service done by them(or someone else) can check to see how the power cord to the TV or other components were run. 1) They attached the TV cord to an extension cord and ran both behind the wall. This initially concerned me so I asked if that was ok, they said yes they do that on all their installs. It still never sat right with me so I did some research. What I found is that running a power cord or extension cord behind a wall is against code, a fire hazard, and most insurance will not cover damages if a fire is caused due to that. FMTP claims they have all this certification so they either don’t or they do and just ignore the code putting the homeowners at risk. INFO_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ It is against the National Electrical Code to connect extension cord wiring through a hole or opening in a wall, inside a dropped ceiling or under flooring. Misuse of extension cords is the #1 cause of household fires in the US according to the NFPA. Extension cords need ventilation to prevent heat buildup, if inside a wall or enclose space, heat will cause the outer jacket to dry out over time, crack, exposing bare wires, creating a point of electrical shorting of the wires, causing a spark, resulting in a possible dangerous fire. INSURANCEPOLICYUPDATE: If a fire would result, due to improper use of an extension cord as outlined in the NEC, most home/renters insurance companies may not cover damages. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A simple solution I found that is safe and within code is a powerbridge(that’s the name you can look it up) it took me 15 minutes to install and my TV plugs in to the recessed outlet that is hidden behind the TV on the outside of my wall. Very simple, very safe, within code and cheap! 2) Another MAJOR concern that I my wife had issues with is that the fact that one of them kept asking for alcohol during the install. This is completely 100% unprofessional. I paid for a professional install and I expect professionalism in return. They get a 0 out of 10 for professionalism. Other issues without getting into details: * They didn’t hide the wire for the center speaker * There were 5 holes in the wall where everything could have been run with just two * There was a huge hole in the drywall where the one TV support screwed in * There was no covers over the holes in the wall, just the holes * They drilled without measuring and hit a beam in the roof, left a hole and had to re-drill * They replaced my thicker gauge speaker wire with thin speaker wire(I will re-run better wire myself) * They didn’t think ahead as a professional install team and they placed my front speakers a few inches from my TV, so when I picked up a new 70inch I had to remove the speakers from the wall.(I know I didn’t think of it but I am paying them $$ for their expertise) * They took forever I redid everything myself and it looks awesome and is safe
