I really do love this store to shop in. I recently bought a couch and loveseat pair, and the price was right! I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the set had been in the store a while, and the owner was obviously trying to move it out, so put a sign on it that had the price that the pieces dropped to every day for 2 weeks. The price at the register rang up differently, and I brought this up, and the worker said«Oh he calculated that wrong». Um. Well. It was dirt cheap, so I did not argue, and overall, we always love the customer service and shopping experience… So, 4 stars today. PS, if you ever consign anything ANYWHERE, always take pictures of your merchandise and make the store give you written documentation of what you are selling. Always.

Let me begin this review by telling you that I waited months to write: until I actually had check in hand for at least a few of the items that I had consigned there out of genuine concern that I would never receive payment for anything I had taken in. Here’s a recap of my experience: Last April(Yes, that“s 8 months ago) I took in a sizable number of items including 20+ pieces of Mikasa crystal(in a pattern currently selling at for between $ 5.00 and $ 30 per stem) and 3 wall mounted glass door display cases currently selling new on Amazon for $ 97.00 each. Knowing that it would take a few months to sell such a large quantity of items; I waited until September to request my check. When I inquired they told me first that I had missed the cutoff date for a check that month by one day and that I was due about $ 50.00. I told them that couldn’t possibly be right The salesperson then began to review with me the items that were credited to my account. Not even ¼ of what I had brought in was listed. At this point even she was surprised because she had remembered specifically some of my items including the display cases and a large metal baker’s rack. It took three calls for them to locate and credit my account with less than ½ of my originally consigned items Had I been less trusting(and forewarned byYelp!) I would have at least photograghed and logged each individual item before I released it to them As it was luckily I had some pictures to prove my case I hope the next person to deal with this business sues them for theft and takes them to court Should someone need additional support in this regard, please feel free to contact me Businesses like Seconds City give legitimate consignment retailers a bad reputation and should be put out of business.

I’ve heard good things about this place but I found the building small and prices too high. I prefer good will for second hand items.

Was glad to discover this place. It’s not huge but has a nice and varied selection. I found many more items of interest than I have in much larger places. Their prices are great. It feels like real thrift store offerings. Too many thrift stores now think that they are antique dealers. That is not the case here.

B+ goods with a D– staff. The staff eats behind the counter while they talk down to you and it smells like they haven’t used any cleaning products in a very long time. For their sake I hope someone cosigns a mop and bucket that they can use.

Pretty cool place. Always has some thing cool to look at. A little pricey but after a certain day if something doesn’t sell, the price goes down 1% each day. Just hope when you go the workers didn’t bring their kids that day. Kinda distracting.

We recently purchased our first house and Seconds City has been a great find to help furnish our home! It is such a great concept that the price reduces 1% for every day it is there — especially when you take into account that their original price is extremely reasonable! As far as thrift stores go for home furnishings, the selection and price are about as good as it gets. I have been stopping in at least once a month to see what new items they have in stock.

I love coming into Seconds City and finding a great deal! I recently bought a really cool dresser with nice clean lines for only $ 40, because it had been in the store for more than 2 months. I couldn’t fit it into my tiny Prius, so they held on to it and let me come back a few days later to pick it up. I believe they also have delivery service for a reasonable fee. I think their consignment policy makes them more of a great place to buy rather than sell — I wonder about the original owners of some of the furniture, and whether they’re royally pissed when their stuff ends up selling for only pennies on the dollar. I guess you would have to accept that possibility before selling… The selection is great!!! I love that I can go in with a specific item in mind(ie, an end table) and generally be able to find a dozen to choose from!

Every time I come here I continue to have a blast. And I’ve become quite the regular, you know. They know who we are when we come in – and that feels good. I’ve talked with the staff many-a-times about items I’m looking for in particular and they’ve offered to keep an eye out and even call us when they see something come in. Seriously? It’s almost like having a personal thrift/vintage shopper. And one that doesn’t jack up the price to unbelievable levels. Oh no. Instead they take it down a percentage or two everyday. Genius. A few priceless items purchased recently: A vintage, gorgeous, huge, intricate gold framed mirror and a an old school victrola with a crank. The mirror? $ 30 or so dollars. I saw similar mirrors at local antique shops for around $ 200. The victrola? $ 40 or so. Seriously. Our musician friends have come over and we’ve literally had to peel them off this thing. What’s even more gorgeous about these items is that the possibilities to reinvent them are endless. Love that. Come here. Sort through some crap, but find the gems that would normally be 3x as much at a vintage shop for a fraction of the price. I’m sold. And frankly, I stop in at least once every 2 weeks to see what’s new.

At the checkout counter there is a sign that reads: Be a wrapper, not a rapper! I thought that was really funny. There are a lot of deals here. If you are into DIY projects, there are some cool finds. Nice furniture pieces for fair prices. It is worth a stroll through and check it out. The staff was extremely helpful and provided valuable guidance. If you are in the market for a table or something like that, come here!

The people who run this place are terrible, and I’m sure if their parents knew how they treated others, they’d be ashamed. They are no better than thieves. My cousin took in several nice items to consign, they sold, but the store refuses to give my cousin her money because it’s under $ 25. This was not stated anywhere in the contract, or she wouldn’t have consigned. Stay away from this shady place!

We have lucked into a few really, really cool pieces of furniture at Second City for unbeatable prices! I have a bit of an obsession with vintage trunks and I’ve picked up several here for prices that are significantly less than what it would cost at an «antique» store. If you see something that you like, but are willing to wait on, you can save 1% each day you are able to hold off(that is, if someone else isn’t lurking doing the same thing!) I always want to stash my favorite items in a dark, back corner so no one else can see them! The only thing is, I wish they would sell the stupid piano because there are always tiny children clanging on the dang thing and it makes me want to get the heck out of there. Maybe it’s their parents bargain hunting technique? They’re like«Now honey, you go over there and play on the piano like an annoying little child and run off all these other customers so I can GETTHEBESTDEALS!»… Maybe not? Seems totally plausible to me. Overall, a really cool place with a few hidden treasures. Just make sure to bring your patience with you.
