Mohawk General Store

I was very excited to hear that Mohawk opened a second location, and in Pasadena. I actually like that its a smaller, more intimate space because it makes for better curation. The employees are super sweet and helpful, too.

So glad they opened a location in my neighborhood. Heading out to Silver Lake can be a drag sometimes and I prefer the parking situation in old town much more. The store is located in the alley by origins/​aka bistro and can definitely be easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. Small but artfully curated with all of my favorite labels. This store is definitely not for everyone — but if you’re into clean lines and a more minimal aesthetic/​approach to clothing and accessories it will be worth your while — trust me.
The selection at MGS is admittedly very cult/​concept but they also carry staples from more popular labels like a.p.c., acne, carven, t by a. wang and isabel marant. I love that they carry local designers (e.g. black crane, building block and raquel allegra). They also carry designers that are pretty difficult to find in person like engineered garments, HOPE, KARA and my most recent favorite baserange. Their beauty/​body care range is also worth checking out for a great selection of unique goods!
They also carry the oh-​so-​elusive mansur gavriel bags and have pretty decent seasonal sales (nabbed a pair of acne jensen boots for 30% off). Overall, I love this store and it’s definitely my go-​to for investment pieces! And no qualms with the staff — they’ve all been lovely and super helpful in addition to answering my many stock questions every time I stop by!

Wonderfully curated. They carry unique and interesting items. Ranging from sunglasses to candles to soap. Mostly excited about this place because Pasadena has been in desperate need for such a well curated space. Additionally, unlike the other reviewers, I experienced fine customer service. Mostly am reviewing bc for this place to have such a low rating is crazy, in my mind.

This is a beautifully curated store. I didn’t even know it was in Old Town. The salesperson was helpful and offered feedback on fitting. I wish they had a better return policy and the fitting rooms weren’t very functional. They looked nice but I prefer functional.

To the general manager or whom it may concern: you have quite possibly the worst staff in retail. Me and my friend came on 2÷26÷14 around 6pm excited about the new store opening in Old Town. We were greeted with a locked door and a post-​it note saying «Will Be Right Back.» We waited about 20 minutes until a woman came to the door and instead of opening up the store she just stood in front of the door texting away on her cell phone. Figuring she was finishing her text it turned into another 3 – 5 minutes of waiting before she let us in. When i say let, there was no greet, no communication whatsoever. As if we were inconveniencing her. She displayed no enthusiasm whatsoever, there was zero communication, and instead was focused on her cell phone. The general vibe we got from her was that we were completely unwelcoming and left a negative experience of what could have possibly been our favorite place in the city. I’m not sure if you guys build your customer base through neglect and apathy, but that was our general experience. To the store manager: your staff is alienating potential customers and leaving a bad taste on their mouths. You need to encourage a friendlier and more welcoming environment and hold them to a higher standard of professionalism. I understand its a small shop on a Wednesday night, but you’re sole staff is single-​handedly ruining your reputation.

A beautiful store filled with beautiful things. I came here on a weekday evening and was the only customer there. The saleslady said that the store opened in September. This store is easy to miss because it’s located in an alleyway (a very fancy alley nonetheless). I think they carry the same items at the Silver Lake location, but I haven’t been to that one so I couldn’t really tell you. They have a nice website too.
Their wares appeal to my minimalist hipster aesthetic. I get annoyed many times over when people will compliment me on something and then ask me if it’s from Old Navy. «No,» I’ll hiss. «It’s from Theory/​Tibi/​Saks.» Something about this store reminds me of Muji in NYC (not to be confused with Muji in Asia which carries yummy snacks too). I think it’s because they sell homegoods and women/men’s apparel. Something for everyone, especially if you’re in the market for a ninety dollar artisanal candle made locally in LA.
