I love the food here. So sad it’s gone. Come back, Pita Jungle!!!

Based off the food alone, I’d say this was a hit! I came here during my lunch break around 1pm, so I took my food to go. I ordered the Gyro and it came with some delicious mayonnaise, pickles, lettuce, lamb. The lamb meat was so good! I would totally come back to try more items on their menu. The service was a bit slow, but the prices are fair and my tummy was satisfied! I’m super sad that it’s closed now! Why?

Closed?! :(sad day for Pasadena locals. My brother brought me here for some Mediterranean food and I loved it! Large portions, good food, and friendly service. Our dishes came out really fast too, so it was great coming here on an empty stomach! The place was kind of empty during dinner time(probably partly why they closed). My only complaint is that the place kind of smelled like a dirty rag. Aside from that, I hope all the other Pita Jungles are as good as this one!

Appropriately post-humous. Or, post-hummus? Oh well. ;/ This was fun healthy offerings in Mediterranean-Mexi eats at great prices in casual comfortable surroundings. Sat in the back, away from all the street noise of Old Town Pas. Reverse happy hour, so deals from 9:00 p.m. on, in their special menu. Supposedly the pastas here were good too. Dolmades were yummy. Chicken shwarma paco, Chicken paco El Pastor… both pretty good. Blue tortilla nachos were smothered with melted cheeses and large creamy pinto beans. This was a massive plate, piled high. We wanted to eat more, but it was just so much. Nice atmosphere and excellent service. Got the pacos comped because waiter was insistent on the policy of, ‘customer must enjoy the food’. Plus one star for him. He inquired how it was, then I showed him two chicken bones in the El Pastor paco. Well, he asked… Moscow Mule fresh lime, ginger beer, vodka. Gin Fizzy fresh lemon, syrup, gin. Who gets tipsy on two cocktails? I do *ugh*. Besides the hang-over later on, Pita Jungle was a decent start to a memorable night.

Right on the Old Town Pasadena strip on Colorado Blvd is this place right next to one of my favorite coffee spot in Pasadena. They get you in quickly and the service is very good! Their menu is filled with a choice of healthy dishes to very high flavorful, not so healthy, choices. My wife is a soy free dairy free sugar free gluten free vegan and I eat anything with meat. We both found dishes we enjoyed. I tried their gyro, which is amazing! Fresh pita filled with fresh beed or lamb with fresh vegetables with a side of potatoes. Amazing! Another dish I recommend is the portobello burger. Amazingly delish! Their humus is incredibly flavorful. Try their humus with chicken as a starter, you will not regret that! Their salads are very impressive! Check this place out and enjoy!

I was passing by and needed a quick place that had light dishes for lunch during the weekday. The menu seemed appealing after looking at menus along Colorado. Pita Jungle is a sit down restaurant with open front patio seating serving a modern take on Mediterranean. Menu is fairly extensive with starters, salads, pitas, burgers, pizzas, featured specials, desserts and smoothies. I opted for the mahi mahi with pita chips. The mahi mahi was perfectly cooked over a cilantro jalapeño hummus surrounded by 4 pits chips. Mahi was very tasty as was the hummus but was lacking quantity. For the price, I would of went somewhere else. The least they could do is fill up the plate with pita chips and hummus. There was barely any fish. Aside from that, service was just okay. Don’t think I’d come back with better places in the area.

Coming from Sacramento where we have Pita Pit, I was totally not expecting this hip, little sit-down restaurant. But I loved it. Another thing to love? Our server that looked like James van der Beek. He was playful but also very helpful. I ordered the Philly Steak gyro and it was TASTY but I feel like I could have shared it with another person. All of the people I was with seemed to really enjoy their food. Service was top notch and they accommodated our large group very easily. If I’m ever in Pasadena again, I’d most likely come back. If only to joke around with Not Dawson.

How did I not know that this existed? We were walking around Old Town and stumbled upon Pita Jungle. We weren’t expecting much but boy were we surprised. We both ordered delicious sandwiches which were filled to the max with fresh veggies and chicken. The sauce was delicious and the every bite seemed more flavorful than the last. Service was excellent. We both ate for under 20.00 and left with half of a sandwich to take home.

Originally visited their Newport Beach location and loved it! So when I found out they had a location in Pasadena I died. I came here for lunch with my mom on a Sunday afternoon and didn’t have to wait to be seated. Opted to sit outside and enjoy the warm but gloomy day. Our waiter was friendly and spunky which I loved. We ordered the 3 hummus plate for an appetizer and the Mediterranean Chicken Salad as an entrée. Both items were delicious! Would of gave them 5 stars if they weren’t out of everything I wanted in the beverage department. No mojitos, no sangria, no happy me. Lol Still going to pay this place more visits. It’s a must!

Located in Old Town Pasadena. I’ve ate here a couple of times. When I tell my co-workers I feel like eating something healthy, this is one of the places they recommend going to. The restaurant is spacious, plenty of seating and there is a bar. :Food: I ordered the Mahi Mahi with Pita chips. The Mahi Mahi came with hummus, four pita chips, and it was surrounded with cilantros, jalapeños, pico de gallo, pine nuts, peas, sprouts, and lemon. The pita chips was sprinkled with paprika and it was crunchy; it tasted good with the hummus. Mahi Mahi was gamey and chewy but it still had a good flavor. Another time I ate here I got the Greek Salad. It had mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, olives, feta cheese, and served with lemon vinaigrette dressing. :M’s Notes: ~Street Parking and parking garage around the area ~Inside and outside seating ~Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 2pm-6pm ~Reverse Happy Hour: Monday-Friday 9pm to close ~Catering available

This ones a toughie for me. I love 1 dish here and that is the mahi mahi with jalapeño cilantro hummus. On a recent visit, I ordered this bad boy to go as I had to get back to a meeting at work. Upon opening the container I find that the fish is tiny as fuck. Could not have been more than 3 oz. of fish… for $ 14(with tax). This fish also had a weird texture, kind of slimy. I’m hoping I just got a bum meal or something because I’m not very tempted to go back considering parking is such a bitch around here. The rest of the stuff there is just Ok. There are better options in old town.

Came here with a friend of mine last week after wandering around Old Town Pasadena looking for a place that was unique and we decided to have dinner here. The restaurant was not too crowded when we got there, but quite crowded once we left. The food is very good here. We both had dishes that had Mahi Mahi on them. I had the special and my friend had a sandwich. The fish was great and the food that came on the plate with it was also very good. It was a nice sized portion of food as well, I didn’t leave hungry. The staff was friendly and the establishment was very clean. Overall, I would certainly recommend stopping by here for a lunch or dinner. The food is good and reasonably priced. I’ll definitely be back if I am in Old Town and have a craving for some good Greek food =)

This isn’t a café? Ok, fine. The chicken shawarma isn’t off a spit? Ok, fine. No crayons for my little one? Ok, fine. Pickles in my GYRO!!! Oh, hell no! I love, love pickles but dill pickles in a gyro is something I don’t see anywhere else and it just doesn’t work. Pickles are not fine in my gyro but I ate it anyways. I did give it a try and sorry, nope. RE: Your shawarma isn’t a shawarma. And pickles don’t belong in a gyro. It’s not a matter of taste, it’s wrong. Pickles turn it into a deli sandwich. This isn’t something creative or a fusion twist, it really does taste bad with the pickles. This is how you guys make it. I am reviewing your«chef’s food» and not how I want to make my gyro. It makes the sandwich very salty.

I had a friend take me here for lunch and I’ve been back several times, usually for lunch. Parking: Its in old town, so use the garages Décor: I’ve sat inside and outside. I like sitting outside, but there’s only a few tables and its too sunny at certain times of day. As for inside, its too dark. I think they need to brighten the décor. Service: Usually pretty good, but there are times they have seemed distracted. Drinks: My husband likes their sangria, but I wasn’t impressed, so I’ll order a glass of wine. Food: Hummus Trio-I’ve tried this with standard hummus, roasted bell pepper hummus and cilantro jalapeño hummus. I love the cilantro jalapeño hummus I discovered the Mediterranean Roasted Chicken(Shawarma) and LOVED it. Loved it so much, I knew my husband would like it and I brought him. Now, he wants to go here all the time. In fact, you’ll know you’re near him because he’ll eat it in seconds. Haha! So the reason for 4 stars, is I love their Cilantro Jalapeño Hummus and Shawarma.

My friend and I were looking for a healthy place to eat after our candlelight yoga class at YogaHop right across the street. FOOD(3.5−4÷5): Gyro($ 7.99): served with a hefty portion of gyro meat and topped with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. My friend thought it was good and would get it again. I tried some of the gyro meat and thought it was good.(4⁄5) Side of Garlic Potatoes($ 2.89): super garlicky! If you love garlic, you’ll love this. Potatoes were cooked perfectly. I would get this again.(4⁄5) Pesto Lavosh Turkey Wrap($ 10.69): this is what I got. First of all, it is a huge portion! I saved half for lunch the next day. Full of turkey, pesto, onions, sun-dried tomatoes, and served with a fresh side salad. I liked it and thought it was pretty good: about a 3.5÷5. SERVICE(5⁄5): Good and attentive, no complaints. Our waiter also took the time to explain the menu and offer his recommendations. AMBIANCE&FACILITIES(5⁄5): It’s a nice and modern looking interior, which had dimmed/darker lighting when we went for dinner on a weekday. They also have a bar and outdoor seating. As for the restrooms, they were clean. PARKING(2−3÷5): There is street parking or the various parking garages around Old Town Pasadena. We parked in the parking garage on Green, just south of the restaurant. It’s free for the first 90 minutes. The party next to us was having the hummus and salads, which looked delicious and fresh. I definitely will be back to try more of the food!

Pita Jungle is good if you’re looking for the lighter side of Mediterranean cuisine because of their vegetarian options and lighter flavors. The roasted garlic potatoes are a must do — very notable. The chicken shawarma is definitely enough for one person. Although tasty, I prefer Zankou and Gaby’s Express’ stronger charred elements. The strawberry kiwi tea was not flavorful enough for me(I didn’t taste strawberry or kiwi flavors) so I would avoid that. All in all, a decent spot among the many meaty restaurants in Pasadena.

This was the first time at this location; I used to go to the one in Scottsdale, Az., and I always had a good meal. The macro plate and the 1,000 beans vegetarian dish was my favorite. However, I didn’t like a few things about this location: first, some of the beans in the macro plate weren’t cooked. They quickly substituted the spicy potatoes, and I appreciated that, but the dish wasn’t as tasty without the usually delicious beans. Second, they charge you for extra bread with the appetizer. We were 4 people, and 1 piece of bread was not enough to share. How else were we supposed to eat the baba ghanouj? On the plus side, Pita Jungle serves generous entrees, and the service is polite and speedy.

Cilantro hummus = delicious. Falafel can be overly salty at times, but otherwise it’s got a good texture. Gyro is very greasy. Texture is sort of like a sponge that’s been pressed super thin and soaked with salt and oil. Salad = good. I love that there are a lot of pickles in it. Chicken shawarma = good. Large portion enough to share. Easy, quick, tasty food when you’re craving hummus and pita.

First impression — it’s freezing in here! Service: our waiter was nice when around, but only refilled my tea once, and ignored an empty water glass during an entire meal. When asked about an iced coffee option, he was honest and said the coffee tasted terrible iced with milk added, but brewed it for us anyways, and brought it after appetizers appeared. Food: The dolmades are embarrassing. If I had paid full price for them instead of happy hour price, I’d have sent them back. They lack dill, mint, and broth(if you’re going for a vegetarian option, then use vegetarian stock!). They were so bland. The shrimp with ajo sauce was mainly overwhelmed by lemon/acidity. The shrimp was cooked thoroughly, so that’s good. The Greek salad was the winner here. The chicken was seasoned well thank goodness. The feta slightly resembled Bleu cheese, but was still delectable. The dressing was the right balance. Décor: It’s hip and casual, it reminded me a lot of Umami strangely enough. Overall it’s a cute«Mediterranean» option in the area if you’re starving.

My fiancé, friend and I came here during my birthday for a quick bite. Food and service was good, definitely a place to revisit for a simple bite. Let’s talk dishes. Gyro sandwich tasted good but they use pre-sliced(probably frozen) packaged meat, not my favorite but worked. What I think was amazing is their salads. My fiancé ordered grilled salmon salad and it tasted real good. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the salad was full of rich flavor. My favorite was the olives in it! My favorite also ordered a salad with hummus and that tasted good although I don’t remember the name. The portions are big at this place and they are open late so it makes it real friendly place to go. My disappointment is the bathroom, needs to be better maintained. I also want to note that after mentioning it’s my birthday, the waiter forgot to bring out desert but to be honest we forgot to remind him.
