Excellent quality food every time. I come here mostly for meneaeesh, either as a sandwich or to-go packs. Great service and their mini cheese boureks are my favorite in all of pasadena. Put it in the toaster oven at 250 degrees when you get home and let the edges get slightly crisp. HEAVEN.

Old school since 1948, actually this location opened in 1987. I’ve passed this bakery many times over the years and decided to stop by to get a few pastries to go. I’m not sure what they are called but the pastries had spinach and mushroom filling on the other. The pastries were okay so I give them 3 stars, I’m not a big fan of Armenian pastries, but 5 stars for the bakery being around for all these decades.

Love the Lahmajune and the sandwiches. Cheap and light. Eat out front at the umbrella covered tables.

A true hidden gem(for us newly moved to the Pasadena area) when we least expected it(waiting out an auto repair)… 8am breakfast with fava beorag and classic ham egg cheese khachapuri bread! Small family run business, super authentic, so patient and welcoming. Can’t wait to be back!

3.5. Bought a bunch of lahmahjuns and boreks. Almost $ 30 worth of delicious stuff. Everything heated up nice and easy in the oven, and most of it tasted fine after being frozen and reheated. Lahmahjuns have become my new pre-run food. So delicious. Not so great for the breath but whatever. Had to come back at night though, as they apparently don’t actually have them ready until 11:30ish each day. Boreks were okay. Not nearly as good as the lahmahjuns. One small gripe… It’s kind of annoying that she asks«no cash?» to everybody who offers a credit card(myself and the three other patrons there), and then seems annoyed when you confirm that you’re paying with a credit card. I’d understand for a tiny purchase, but I’d say $ 30 is a reasonable amount to charge to card.

I love this place. Great place to come after a workout. Love the Fava Bean turnover with the olives, onions, etc. And it’s only $ 3.50. Great place for a quick and delicious snack. Reminds me of Europe where you can snack everywhere without having to settle for junk food.

HELLYEAH. Came here the other day for lunch, we ordered a gyro beorag and a manaiesh zahtar. Both perfect and full of flavor, warm and cozy and delicious. We also got baklava(always amazing) and sahlab, which I was unfamiliar with but loved. Friendly, fast service, reasonable prices, awesome Armenian food! 10⁄10 would recommend.

If you’re a fan of Manaiesh Zatar bread this is the place to get it. They have perfected the dough as it’s nice crisp on the bottom when reheated yet remains light and fluffy on top. The bread is moist, not excessively dry like every other place I’ve tried it from. An absolute favorite! Their lahmajun is also tasty, slightly heavy on tomatoes in the meat filing. Wish it had a touch more garlic flavor but the dough to meat ratio are perfect. Their spicy cheese borek isn’t bad but not my favorite. It tasted as though the filling contained feta cheese which I found to be different. Prefer the spicy boreks at either the other Sasoun bakery or Taron. Nonetheless, I highly recommend the other two items mentioned above. Looks like I’ll be making two separate trips from here on out to get the best of both worlds.

The owner is lovely, and the macrons are excellent. I find texture to be the most critical element of a macron, and The Old Sasoon Bakery nails it. The flavors are spectacular and seasonal too. The pumpkin and chocolate chai are delicious! Looking forward to being in the neighborhood again!

«Oh these aren’t homemade. They were made in a factory… a bomb factory. They’re bombs.» If you eat just one of these Armenian pizzas called lahmajunes, then you’ll know what I mean. They are, seriously, DABOMB!!! I’ll be back to try all other pastries!

Serving up some popular Armenian baked goods, particularly beorags, lahmajunes, and khachapuris. These items are also relatively inexpensive, and can be ordered in several different variations(options are more limited for khachapuris, a boat shaped baked item that’s stuffed with a choice of meats, cheeses, and egg). Prices range from $ 2 to $ 7. For the most part, one beorag or one lahmajune would be suffice to fill you up. Since I love to sample different varieties of food, I just had to get one of each, a soujouk beorag(Armenian sausage) and a zahtar, chile & onion lahmajune. Both had very bold flavors with a nice spicy kick. Lahmajune was a bit thicker than the way I like it, and I tend to prefer varieties that includes bits of ground meat on it as well, but these hit the spot. To cool down the spiciness, I washed them down with a bottle of mint flavored yogurt drink. Service here was quite helpful. They also have a variety of sweet baked goods, as well as the popular baklava. Drinks are basically bottled or canned(water, sodas, yogurt beverage) and hot coffee. There are 3 high tables, each seats 2, with a couple of tables in front of the bakery along the sidewalk. Parking is street parking only.

YESYESYES!!! Everything here is just how I like it, top notch service, fast, cheap, made in house, these ladies work their butts off to make fantastic food at all hours of the day! Walking in, it already smells so good, you see them working in the open kitchen, everything is heated to order or packed up nicely to go. I had tried pretty much everything they make here and LOVE it all! Meats are great, as are veggie items as are desserts, really everything is bursting with flavor, unique and tasty tasty tasty! The prices are insanely cheap, so stock up! Sweet and savory all is SO good here, you really can’t go wrong! Easy street parking, open at 7 am which was a perfect hearty breakfast, local business I love to support will have to be back every time I am in the area from now on, SO worth it!

So I’ve bookmarked this place for ages and totally came today unplanned(the truth is, I somehow just got kidnapped by my colleague who dragged me in, even though pizza is totally out of my diet at this time. The justification for me to eat it is that the crust is sooo thin, so it’s healthier. And it’s got no cheese on top) The pizza is delicious(and cheap — only $ 2) and the salty yogurt drink quenches your thirst. Next time I will try the Soujouk&cheese. The store is located in the residential neighbourhood of Pasadena so it is quiet while you relax and eat. Have I lured you enough yet?

So this is weird… I was in LASVEGAS eating at a small and delicious mom and pop Greek place. The owner asked where we were from and we said Pasadena. He raved about this place and said we must go. We went… Now I will tell you, go to this place! It is small, family owned and super lovely. I had the Armenia Pizza, Baklava, Hummus, and this breakfast thing I cannot pronounce! Enjoy!

Warning: Do not enter the alley beside the building in an attempt to find a parking lot. If you choose to do so, you will find yourself in a small space of a place and after too many minutes of trying to figure out how to turn around you’ll have to completely back out the way you entered. Not, a fun process. Park on the street out front. The offerings at Old Sasoon Bakery hail from Armenia. The pizza dough like bread is shaped in many forms and topped with authentic traditional ingredients. The bread smells and tastes yeasty and fresh. Some of the toppings include zaatar(spice mix) and soujouk(preserved meat). Everything is inexpensively priced. They are open early and have great items for breakfast. Try a borek! It is a split piece of bread filled with a sunny side up egg and sprinkled with cheese.
