Great studio. Took my first of many lessons. Teachers are awesome and staff is great. Some of the members are a bit snobbish, and the store inside is super pricey.

Very cool studio and gallery. Suzette, the education director is very kind and was extremely helpful giving me a tour of the facilities and giving me an overview of the classes offered. I would recommend visiting this well thought out studio. it would be fun to take classes here!

Simply the best ceramics studio in the region for membership and classes, and I’ve been to many, many ceramics studios. Clean, well-organized, friendly atmosphere, great selection of glazes, exceptionally reliable firings by the kiln master, excellent shop for purchase of pottery tools and supplies, as well as a gallery showcasing the work of members and artists in the region. I drive 25 miles from home to work here because it’s that good.

If you have ever pondered working in clay, take the step and sign up for a class. I am so appreciative to have found this place. Not only do they have an amazing space but the staff and owners are knowledgable, talented and care about this beautiful and CLEAN place. I have found not only my passion but a wonderful community of talented artists and friends to share it with. The glaze class is amazing ! I plan on taking it a few more times as once is not enough. I am proud to be part of this studio and privileged to witness the talent all around me when I am there. They have 2 annual sales and if you haven’t been to one, do yourself a favor and pick up some unbelievably priced functional ware for gifts or a treat for yourself.

Xiem Clay Center is a wonderful resource for those of us who love to do clay art. Kevin Nguyen has created a studio for would-be ceramicists as well as for those who already know their craft. He and his team(e.g., Suzette, Junzo, Alejandra) keep the center in tip top shape. Suzette overseas the center and is a highly skilled ceramicist herself. The instructors(eg., Titia, Doug, Mary) are knowledgeable and most helpful to the learner. They all go the extra mile to advance students’ progress. The adjacent shop carries a lot of clays and tools as well as examples of members’ work. Altadena/Pasadena is fortunate to be the home of this center. Potters come from all over(e.g., Claremont, Korea Town, Downtown LA., Simi Valley) to enjoy the facilities here.

I love this place!!! They have excellent glaze colors! Oh if only I could afford a membership … I once took a class here with my college and I love this studio because they have everything you need. Now I just build with clay at home and come here to fire without membership. Their site says that«firing without membership is available at 7¢ per cubic inch(including bisque and glaze firing) and full privileges to use our studio glazes.(!!!) There is a $ 20 minimum for outside firings» My current project is to make a couple of big planters and glaze and fire here

What a lovely place to create! everything you need is at your fingertips — classes, supplies, tools, tons of wheels and work tables, beautiful glazes… The atmosphere is very welcoming and the people(students and members) are all great. I have been taking classes since Jan 2012 and now I have finally become a member — can’t wait to make the most of it! Especially great are Kevin, Suzette, Junzo, and Carol — thank you for everything!

This place is AMAZING. After a horrible experience with clay elsewhere, I am amazed a place like this exists. It has renewed my interest in clay. The instructors are awesome. Suzette was extremely helpful in getting me set up for class. Jim Heuston, my instructor for class, is incredibly patient, good with clay, and teaches in a way that is easy to understand. I’ve only been working in there immaculate studio for a few weeks, but it’s easy to see this is a one-of-a-kind place. LOVEIT!
